    The "Reds" referred to the communist. In the Fallout world, the "Reds" were the Chinese communist who America were fighting during the Resource War. The Reds also referred to the Russia, or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic as they were known at that time. The show never said it but the crashed satellite the doctor died next to in episode 2 said CCCP on it. CCCP is Russian for USSR or the Soviet Union. Fun Fact: In episode 1 the dads referred Cooper as a Pinko. Pinko means communist sympathizer.

    So, the Fallout universe puts a big focus on political propaganda, specifically against "communism", hence the reference to "the Reds". It's not really meant to be the show taking a sort of political stance, but to reflect the culture that the characters in the universe lived in before the Great War. The tension between "The Reds" is what led to the Great War in the first place.

    A bit more clarification on usage of the term "Red/Reds." In the Fallout universe, "Reds" does generally mean the Chinese. but was mostly used to refer to the USSR from the 50's up thru the Soviet dissolution in 1991. The Red scare in the US basically began when the USSR began testing atomic bombs in the late 40's and really took off when they began testing hydrogen bombs in the 50's. I remember having "Duck and cover" drills in elementary school in the 60's and early 70's.

    He's lucky he didn't buy the ranch in bakersfield. What was left of it was necropolis in fallout 1. Though I guess he ended up as a ghoul anyway so maybe it wouldn't have mattered. The boy and his dog comment was a reference to one of the inspirations for fallout 1
    'What are the bad vaults'
    .....Most of them. There were a handful of vaults that were actually intended to be exactly as they were stated to be and were intended for high up VIPs, politicians, members of the enclave and the best and brightest. Other than that most vaults were designed to run some kind of unethical experiment on the residents without their knowledge. Some more horrifying than others. Vault tec did stuff even nazi doctors in the camps would have called horrifyingly unethical and insane. Though there were a few 'normal' vaults that were used as control vaults as part of the experiments. In short, if you play the games you'll come across many of those vaults and find out what happened in them

    • @toomanyaccounts
      @toomanyaccounts 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      a number of vaults were incomplete or didn't get their supplies or were just run badly such as no population controls. So even a number of the normal vaults failed.
      Some vaults like 4 had a designated pre war operation. One vault was about crop research to produce blight resistant crops or other useful crops. If vault tech had been smart they could easily have repurposed the vaults or multifunctional so they would be in operation and generating revenue and potential profit. plus for natural disasters the vaults could also be used as supply/relief centers since they wouldn't be damaged by the disaster.
