UPDATE: To answer John's question about VTX power on a switch for Crossfire: No. You can change Smartaudio from within the TBS LUA script, but there is no way to assign a switch allowing manipulation of VTX via LUA to my knowledge at this point.
23:42.. That exact same jamming (wouldn't allow me to scroll to a switch choice) happened to me this week while programming a new plane into the TX16S. The only way I got it to work was by inserting a new Special Function between 2 good ones. Then it worked properly. I don't use Screenshot.
Thanks for the lesson - I always learn new things from this channel. I hoped this lesson gives some solution to the dilemma I currently have. I am trying to override one global function in my odd model but it seems so far not possible in open/edgeTx. Say I defined a global function for sw-a to play a track ‘throttle hold’. For my odd model I want to play a track ‘stabilization off’ for sw-a. I couldn’t figure out how to accomplish it in openTX. It appears not possible to have a special function in a model override the global function. The radio first plays ‘throttle hold’ followed by ‘stabilization off’. In modern programming languages a locally defined variable takes precedence over the global variable but openTx seems not following this convention.
Hi bro. Thanks for sharing all the lessons, very clear and useful. In the meantime, in which video I can learn how to assign 1 of those potentiometers to camera angle. I am from drone community where adjusting the camera angle is crucial in flying. In DJI, we can adjust the camera angle while flying using the scroll wheel on its RC.
One other difference between Global Functions and Special Functions is that Special functions can be entered through Companion while Global Functions cannot. Also, the subset of switches available to Global Functions does not include the transmitter Trim Switches (ie Trim 5/6). I was thinking of using them to do a timer reset.
Global functions can be entered in Companion. They're under radio settings, not model settings. Global functions also include all trim switches. I just verified on EdgeTX 2.6RC2.
@@RCVideoReviews My bad, still new to this OpenTX concept. I did find it in companion under radio settings. However, I had also tried it using the menus on the radio (TX16S) and could not find the trimmer switches as an option.
Hi and thank you for the video. I watched your video on updating the open tx. I updated and had the option to override the throttle channel. Then I thought I forget to do a process and updated open tx again and this time I don't have the override function any more.. can you guide me on how or what to do to get this function back on my RM tx16s. Or tell me what version of open tx to go back to. Thanks James
Override is not a version specific option, it's been and will be available in OpenTx for a very long time. On your radio, press the system button and scroll to the version tab. At the bottom of that screen you'll see a line labeled OPTS: What do you see on that line?
I have a question for you. On my global functions where you select the switch, that column isn’t there. But the weird part is I have selected stuff there before. I was watching your video and trying to select the switch for adjusting the brightness like you did in your video and it wouldn’t let me select the switch in that column. Weird!

You can set vtx power, band and channel on a switch thru betaflight
@@deadstickfpv8115 I know. I mentioned that in the video. It's very easy.
What are logical switches on the tx16s, I’m sorry this is all new to me, but I’m trying to learn

I've only had it happen when I select screenshot as the function then activate it. There's got to be something causing a delay.

Clear explanations of global and special function and again a great job done. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Btw, my Radiomaster is Boxer. If you could teach me to assign the camera angle to a knob based on the Boxer I have that will be great.
Доброй!! Ночи! ))Good !! Nights!
Thanks for checking-in. Glad you liked it.
If I use rxbatt as input for special functions what does it do?

I don’t have anymore OpenTX radios. I said above I verified the trim switches on EdgeTX 2.6RC2.

You bet!
Great Video!
Question, If I set a switch to play music is there a way to stop it if I want to hear other switches before the song ends?
I don't know. You'd have to experiment a little.
Nice one mate great info don 🤠🇬🇧👍👍👍
No problem 👍

What are your build options?
@@RCVideoReviews I’m not sure what you mean.
It’s a radiomaster tx16s max that I just got a week ago. I’m not sure what version opentx it’s on.
