  • If you want to win more tennis matches you need a reliable backhand. In this video, I will show you how to get massive topspin on your tennis backhand. You will get better net clearance and avoid the most unnecessary error in tennis: missing in the net. You will also gain more depth on your shots and put more pressure on your opponent that way!

    I’m french and i ve just discovered your chanel because i was checking some reviews about vcore 98 which is my new racket. I have OHBH so it s cool to see a coach who has one. All your videos are so good and detailed. I’m 4.5 and everything you say is usefull and understandable for everybody, beginners and very good players. I don’t speak english perfectly but i learn more watching your videos than watching some french coach videos 😅 Thanks

    Humour and instruction. Great combination. Keep it up. Dropping the racquet is a great tip for adding spin and can also add power.

    Great tips! I definitely have a more forward swing than low to high. It almost looks exactly like you demonstrated at 2:57. LOL. Time to get to work! Thanks coach!
    I think you might be right about the topspin capability of the one hand being higher. I actually saw a reddit post on the RPM and groundstroke speed of mens players at Indian Wells 2023 and the one handers had a higher RPM than the two handers on average.

    Thanks Meike for the video. I need some more clarity on point of contact and the role of wrist in single handed backhand. If can highlight in next videos or give me a tip here that is really appreciated.

    • @MeikeBabelTennis
      @MeikeBabelTennis  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Contact point should be out in front between hip and shoulder. The wrist stays pretty locked. It’s the swing path (steeper) that creates the spin.

    Do you recommend a semi western or eastern for backhand? I played with both and I feel with a semi I’m less likely to hit it out but with an eastern I feel the grip change and preparation is much more convenient.

    • @MeikeBabelTennis

      I always teach the Eastern bc with a Western most players have real issues.

      Another great video. My kryptonite is still the high ball to the baseline on my one handed backhand

  • @marktace1
    @marktace1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I agree on the 2 hander but in general the top 1 hand backhands, Wawrinka, Federer, Musetti…tend to have little or no racquet drop on their backhands and generate topspin with their hand going from low to high without dipping the head of the racquet. There are occasional shots where there’ll be a racquet drop but it is rare.

    • @LoveTennis-AllCourts
      @LoveTennis-AllCourts 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are you sure there is "no racquet drop on their backhands"? All backhands are not the same but each one has a racquet drop while the degree may vary depending on how they are shaping it.

    • @marktace1
      @marktace1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LoveTennis-AllCourts I said “little or no” yet you quoted it without the little or part. I also noted that on occasion the racquet head will dip, but if you review video you’ll see that on the vast majority of 1hbh at the elite level there is little or no dipping the head of the racquet. Watch a few videos.
