    I have that same Viking flowerite vase for sale. No frog. Original mold made the Beaumont glass company in the 1900s.

    • @oldcuriosityshop265
      @oldcuriosityshop265  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      YEAH!!!!!!! Patty you are the ONLY one to figure out that the mold seems to have FIRST come from Beaumont glass years before Viking. Bully for you!!!!!!!! Now tell us how you knew that or figured it out. Also Beaumont offered that very same bowl (same mold as later used by Viking) as a candy dish with a lid and not just as a flower bowl with frog. It is very possible that the New Martinsville company got their hands on some old Beaumont molds which were later reissued by Viking. Anyway it is fascinating for sure. So glad you cracked the mystery!!!!

      @@pattyswhatsmineisyoursvint6169 Yes indeed I have read that same article and thank you for sharing it. Also my books on 1920's and 30's glass gave several examples of the Beaumont glass which is exactly like the Viking reissue of 30 years later. It's a very similar situation such as the glass sold by Anchor Hocking which was actually a continuation of molds first used by Lancaster Glass several years before. Thanks Patty! I'd say you win the green bowl but you already have one!

    Fenton didn't use punty rods making their glass, so their glassware didn't have pontil marks. They used snap rings. They did make a very few "off-hand" pieces, in the 1920's, with punty rods, and those are rare ones to find. If a piece of Fenton has a star or a flame on it, (and not necessarily just on the bottom), that was a "second", and some of those are quite collectible.
    I had to laugh when you said, "The more you think you know the more you find out you don't know." How very true that is! Identifying some of the glassware can make you feel like your brain has been ricocheted round an 18-sided room🤪😂😂
    The uranium glass isn't a big thing for me, but I did like that creamer you had in the group.
    Great video! Thanks!!!

    Scott, the most confusing company is the L G Wright Glass Company out of New Martinsville, West Virginia started in 1937. They never produced one single piece of glass. They owned old and recreated Victorian glass molds from Northwood, Dugan, and Diamond. They also used Fenton and other companies to press their pieces. This went on until 1999. There are glass books filled with Wright pieces. These are usually time consuming identifications to figure out. You wanted a challenge, Didn’t You? Your cranberry pitcher could be just one of those Wright pieces. Now, there’s a monkey wrench thrown into those cogs. Good Luck. Informative as always.
