There are no fire ant at the high altitude where these dark Pheidoles are found... But I hv footages of fire ant face off with similar type of army ants. Will update in future.
I don't think so....Though they look a bit similar but the altitudes of the place where these two ants were detected is several hundred feet apart. I don't think similar species of ants can tolerate this difference of temperature, unless of course my assumption is wrong!
These are same dark army ants that can even destroy huge super colony of yellow crazy ants
