I've ran Mosquito Pass numerous times since I started four wheelin' over 40 years ago and it is my favorite pass. I love Leadville and that entire area. I also suggest visiting all the old, small townsites and mines concentrated in the rather small area on the Leadville side of the pass. I love watching you and Shanna on your little escapades. 😁

I haven’t been up there since the 1980’s. The last time I had my girlfriend and her daughter and I would always go from Alma to Leadville. I had a 1974 F-100 4x4 with a 428 punched and built. The last time over I cracked the rear axle where the tube goes into the pumpkin. Found a shop in Leadville and they welded it enough to keep it from leaking. I found a piece of quartz with what looked like gold in it. I asked a miner in Clear Creek Canyon and he wasn’t sure if it was gold but he offered to buy it. 😁 Are any of the towers still up for the tramway? I camped on one of the grassy areas in a switchback and watched an Australian bring his rental car up until the snow drifts stopped him. He informed me that all rental cars are 4 wheel drive. 😁

I have been into gold mining for many years and learning the history while you are driving around making your videos. I visited many old mines and wondered when they were being worked if it was a independent or corporate owned and the history behind it. Even old civil war battle fields just the history of America, a few years ago I learned about the great dust bowl and the hard times they went through.

Some of those mountains and valleys are pretty desolate. Still kind of pretty but just rocks and scrub brush for the most part. If there are wild flowers It might be real pretty in the spring after some rains. I lived in an A frame for a few years. basically a 1 bedroom upstairs and it was so steep going up and down the stairs it felt almost like a ladder. Main gripe I had was the wasted space on slanted walls on the sides.
