  • My attempt to demonstrate how Strelok Pro works with the WeatherMeter on a home-made "Franken-wind vane mount." I did this in my back yard. I used a 1,000 yard distance to demonstrate the effect of even a light wind. The wind was inconsistent (and mostly calm). So, I cut out the dead calm periods.

    Really good thanks. It's good to see the difference between what you need to do to get the information running (the info from the weather meter), what Strelok tells you after that and then what you need to do to make the shot. Fundamentally then it's dial for elevation and hold for windage providing your zero is accurate and entered properly in Strelok (for your load).

      All part of the fun! Your mileage may vary. ;-)
      Alternatively, lick your finger, stick it in the air, and read the wind through the grass, trees, flags, etc.

    So I'm assuming with Strelok, you want to take the wind reading while the wind meter is pointing in the direction of the wind, not the target, correct? Of course this is after calibrating it while it is pointed at the target. So if I don't have a wind vane, the correct way would be to just point this unit into the wind and then get the reading for my scope??

    Here's how I made the wind vane for the WeatherMeter!

    Where did you get the stand and more specifically the piece that the weatherflow fits into to move with the wind? I don’t see it on their Website

    I could not be able to get this right into Strelok. I have the same set up as yours and I used iphone for real time reading. When I zero in my target as the manual instruct, I press the “target azimuth” once but when I point the device into the wind, the red arrow did not move at all but the wind speed and horizontal value changes along with wind. I wonder if there is anything wrong with the connection or something?

      Hello! Thanks for watching. The "Calibrate" button only appears once the WeatherMeter has connected to the Strelok app via Bluetooth.

    My understanding was that with that particular model of weathermeter, wind direction can only be measured via the phone compass or entered manually. The blue one can read wind direction?

    • @Racer88
      @Racer88  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Direction is measured by the weathermeter. But, you "calibrate" from the Strelok app on the phone, which is to set the direction of the target.

      Racer88 Hello. Can you post video, how you set the wind direction on STRELOK Pro with weathermeter. I am not able to set it. It shows only speed in Strelok. But not direction

  • @sethortiz6717

    So the wind direction is from the big side of the red arrow blowing toward the center of the circle right?

      Yes.

    Hmmmm...as an air quality monitoring tech of 35 years that vane is not responding as smoothly as it should with that level of wind, it seems pretty jerky to me...However I suspect its simply one of the less expensive vanes they offer and not a PSD level unit (sensitivity standard for air quality monitoring). Pretty inventive, and good job on not adding torque to the bearing by putting the meter out on the front of the vane as I've seen some guys doing...

    • @Racer88
      @Racer88  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! The wind was REALLY inconsistent (very light, too) and swirling around. But, yeah.... I wouldn't try to pretend this was an "air quality monitoring"-worthy set-up. :-)
