You're welcome! I love the seat. Will do a full review after the break-in period and a couple thousand miles like I did on the Indian. There is no seat I'd rather have on my bikes!
Very nice review, that's a beautiful looking seat, must be comfortable like a dream! Also, since you live in Vermont, i almost can't believe you drive a Subaru, that's very uncommon hahahhaha! Have a good one my friend.
You're welcome! To be honest, I ripped the stock seat off so quickly I think I rode it 2 or 3 times and it was over a year ago. I really don't remember how it changed my forward/back position, sorry.
@@MOTOBLADE Actually I just bought one myself, for my '09 XL1200L. I found that the stock seat made me slide forward, which was annoying since I am somewhat tall and the Sportster isn't the biggest bike. I found that the Explorer doesn't cause me to slide forward, so I feel like I have more room.
30" inseam, 225lbs. Fits me great. I don't think I'd want anything smaller for a seat. Granted it's a "small" bike compared to the Indian Chieftain touring I have. But the seat is just about perfect. If anything, I would have wanted it even bigger, but the frame of the bike wouldn't really allow that I guess. I've put about 1500 miles on it at the end of last season and it was amazing. Once you get through the break in period, it's the most comfortable all-day seat, in my opinion. I have a road sofa from saddlemen on the Chieftain and it's the best investment I've ever made. This seat on the iron is no different.
have you tried the saddlemen step up seat by any chance? & if so how would you compare it to this one..? I have one now and it's brutal. considering purchasing this one but not sure if it's any better. I can barely last 45 mins before I have to pull over lol.
I have not tried it. I can tell you I ride this one for 8 hour days. I stop every 100 miles to fill my tank anyway, so the most I do with no break is about 90 minutes. Very comfy, no issues. 2 things to consider: 1. Have you completed the 500 mile break in period saddlemen recommends? It makes a difference. 2. It could be the riding position. I switched to taller bars and forward controls and the pressure going into my hips and butt was immediately gone. Went from a forward lean to an upright/reclined position. Sometimes it's the position more than the seat. Wish I could guide you more there, but I've just never tried the step-up. The explorer seat and road sofa on my other bike are both very comfy for me.
@@MOTOBLADE Thanks for the reply dude. I've put over 500 miles on it for sure and I do have shoulder height bars and forward controls as mine is a 1200 custom.. I might just have to order the explorer and pray its better lol.
It is VERY comfortable. I have put just over 700 miles on it so far in the month I've had it. It's been up Mt. Washington and all around the white mountains, green mountains, and around town. First couple hundred miles weren't great. But once you hit that sweet spot around the 500 mile break in period, it is incredible. Don't ever want to go back to riding without it now!
I have saved your comment to refer to later - I intended to do a review video of this seat and it never happened that season. It's in the queue to film, this was just a quick install/first look video. Now that I have a lot of miles on it I'm going to do the review and I will cover what you asked above - thank you for request! Helps me to know what you guys want to see and what others are not covering.
Thanks for the review Motoblade- we sincerely appreciate it!

Thanks for the video. Really helped. Saddlemen's included instructions were lacking.
Just ordered mine for a 16 fatboy lo. Can't wait! Really don't care for the stock seat.
You will enjoy it! Mine is so comfy every time I swing a leg over the bike.
Looks great man. I love my saddlemen seat. Best seats you can possibly get for your bike!
Yes they are! I will never have another bike without a Saddlemen seat!
Thanks for the kind words VT- we appreciate ya'
@@MOTOBLADE Happy to have you in the Saddlemen Family!
Are there any mods or features on the Iron 1275 you guys want me to highlight in an upcoming video? Let me know in the comments!
Great review,thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!

If you live in Vermont and don't have a Subaru, are you even a Vermonter 🤣
great video!
Thank you!
I like the matching backrest. Good looking seat. How much was it?
Around $680 with the backrest. Less without the backrest, more if you get the heated option. Hope that helps!
Thanks for making this. Would you say you sit more forward on the Explorer than on the stock seat?

I see you have the Iron and a touring bike.
I am 6' tall, 230 pounds and a 32" inseam.
How do you compare? How do you fit?
Beautiful seat.

Sit on the bike...can't see where it hits your back. No one who does these vids actually sits on the bike! Very frustrating.
