Just wanted to say I really appreciate that you make your lives and shorts amidst the inevitable "chaos" of a child filled home. The part about your kids breaking the candles not throwing you off, you just do what you can faithfully in the circunstances of life. It is easy on online spaces to perceive Orthodox Christianity as high-church, mystical, and other-worldly (and in part it is very much those things and more), but I do yearn to see more of what day to day life is like for an Orthodox Christian. To see how the fullness of the faith weaves into the challenging messiness of our family and work life. Thank you for your ministry.
Most prayer books also have a myriad of topical or situational prayers which can be added as needed - prayers for the sick, departed, suffer, traveling, pregnant etc - you may also add prayers during certain times of the year like lend - of a feast day
As a protestant considering orthodoxy, could you explain praying for the deceased? As I understand it, orthodoxy does not believe in purgatory, so what does praying for them do?
You pray for the departed because you don't know what they may had done. If they repented. So with your supplications to God to raise them to see the Light of His Face, you do an act of love for your departed. ☦️☦️☦️
Just want to say, I'm loving your content. As someone beginning his journey to orthodoxy, your videos have answered a lot of my questions. And I do have another for you or anyone else with knowledge of this subject. Is the morning prayer solitary, or can my wife be with me?
Yes I pray the Trisagion Prayers, Heavenly King, The Lords Prayer, and the General Intercessory prayer (which is 237 people for me). The rest of the day my prayer rule is lacking.
I would like to know how is an icon different than a graven image? My grandma has a painting of Jesus. And I’ve seen a problem with putting a mural of Noah’s ark in my children’s nursery. Is it like that? I wouldn’t be praying A Noah’s ark mural but how dose praying to an icon work differently? Thanks!
I had abandoned the lord for years. I was raised catholic for a majority of my young life. My greek roots sparked curiosity in the one true church. How do I reclaim my faith and join the orthodox church?
I bought a very nice prayer book from my local church, the assumption of the theotokos in Denver, and it came from the greek orthodox archdiocese of america whom you can buy it from directly online
Then we can end with what? It is truly… neat? Mead? Red meat? Truly yeast? Like, Risen? Im catholic, just started inquiring to orthodoxy so apologies if the phrase he said is a common thing.

Let me see what I can do
@@TheoriaI'm also curious about this subject, keep up the good work! God bless!
One reason we pray for the dead is because we love them, and we don't stop loving them after they pass into the afterlife.

Wonderful routine. Some Gospel a day keeps the baddies at bay. Christ is risen, truly he is risen!
Whoa. I stumbled upon this video and my mother recently purchased that icon of Jesus and it happens to be lying right next to me.
I'm a catecumin and would otherwise have no idea what it's supposed to look like. Thank you!
Should we bow and prostrate while praying? And at what parts of the prayer
Where do I find the prayers book?
like when I was a kid there is just something right about breaking candle. I might be a menace
Where does using a psalter fit in? I’m confused by the need for a psalter vs prayer book. Thanks.
I'm a Catholic, but am looking heavily into Orthodoxy, and I've been wondering, do all prayers have to be read from a book?
Great question! No they don’t :) the goal is sustainability in a daily routine. Do what you can! And keep it up!
@@Theoria Oh ok! Thank you for replying, and God Bless!
Do you read them from the book or do you have to memorise them all?

Find your local Greek Orthodox Church and get to know the Priest.
Who is the icon next to Jesus ?
Where can I buy one

Just curious I’m becoming a orthodox Christian but wouldn’t having icons break the second commandment correct me if I’m wrong

Yes

Praying for the government is peak reddit
Bible says no idols/icons and no graven images
Icons and idols/graven images are not the same.
Please pray and ask God to guide you on those pictures you have up. Be alert and be sure to don’t fall into worshipping idols. Good bless❤️
Thanks but we’ll rather pray God to guide you! May He show you the Truth

No, the Quran is filled with lies and half-truths.

Which idols? This is God.
The bible condemns idols like those pictures why use them for prayer?
They’re not idols
Why do u have a picture of God, idolatry
