Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the 13th century mystic poet, was truly one of the most passionate and profound poets in history. Now, today his presence still remains strong, due in part to how his words seem to drip of the divine, and startle a profound remembrance that links all back to the Soul-Essence.

When I die
When my coffin
is being taken out
You must never think
I am missing this world
Don’t shed any tears
Don’t lament or
Feel sorry
I’m not falling
into a monster’s abyss
When you see
My corpse is being carried
Don’t cry for my leaving
I’m not leaving
I’m arriving at eternal love
When you leave me
in the grave
Don’t say goodbye
Remember a grave is
only a curtain
for the paradise behind
You’ll only see me
Descending into a grave
Now watch me rise
How can there be an end
When the sun sets or
the moon goes down
It looks like the end
It seems like a sunset
But in reality it is a dawn
When the grave locks you up
that is when your soul is freed
Have you ever seen
a seed fallen to earth
not rise with a new life
Why should you doubt the rise
of a seed named human
Have you ever seen
a bucket lowered into a well
coming back empty
Why lament for a soul
When it can come back
like Joseph from the well
When for the last time
you close your mouth
Your words and soul
will belong to the world of
no place no time.

Another translation of this poem:
This poem is so beautiful. I lost my son 4 years ago and I feel his presence all the time. His body is gone but his beautiful soul and spirit linger on. ❤️

When I die
4 days ago my brother died and I could not stop crying ,then I remembered Rumi . Since them I have listened a few times and it has given my comfort.
This poem suddenly appeared this morning. My father passed a few hours later. 99 years old.
How can anyone describe death so beautifully 💕
Now I understood why Rumi is the all-time greatest poet in the world.
My father passed in 1999 He still visits me in my dreams ( I STILL REMEMBER HIS VOICE ) ❤️ They never really leave you .... COMPLETELY 🙏
Before 2 years i lost my 20 years son,my only child but i always feel his presence. He help us always whenever we are in problem. Thanks a lot God for such divine child🙏🙏
I am able to read this poem in original Persian and I must admit that this translation is as good as it can get. The translator did a superb job conveying the essence of the poem.
I know that when I die there will no one cry or pray for me. I am all alone here and afterwards. My only wish is to get eternal soul peace which will connect to God.
When you cry at someone’s passing, you are crying for yourself.
Death is a reward and not a punishment.
I wanted to change the world when I was clever, today I am wise to change myself-Rumi ❤️❤️
The grave is just a curtain to paradise, how amazing is that?!
My soul-mate died years ago and is with me, still. Rumi's words are so exquisite and timeless.
