Your video took me back, when I was a kid my dad had an early VW camper and that would over heat, I remember it being a real hot day and having the heater on full blast to take the heat away from the engine. 😂 Another great watch guys. xx
Thanks so much Simon!! Glad it could take you down memory lane 🤗🤗 The sun was baking our legs and then the heater was on it was cooking.🤣🤣 Thanks so much for watching❤️
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Never even noticed that! Good job I didn't break out my break dancing... everybody would unsubscribe 🤣🤣 We are on a ledge I think it's to warn people lol
When I was running my business restoring VW, my neighbour had a business repairing radiators. He had many trade customers, mechanics who would bring him radiators to flush or re-core. Because over time the small tubes can fill up with small bits of debris that can block or restrict coolant flow, which makes proper cooling in high temperatures harder. If the radiator is the original one, this will be likely. Also being a diesel with a cast iron block small rust particles and debris come from the engine block more than the alloy water cooled engine vw t25. And the stronger concentration of anti freeze / coolant will help. Also worth checking... the small zigzag cooling strips between the radiator tubes can become blocked or damaged and won't let air flow through. My dad had a T25 water cooled petrol, his had an electric fan, I'm unsure if yours will but if it has make sure your fan switch and fan is working. I hope this helps :)
Thanks!! You had a business restoring old Vws? Where was that based? I must have a look at the rad when I get back. The fan is working. I've it wired on a switch as well so I can turn it on whenever I need it
I see u get your diesel in "bon rea" they r always mega good prices, as you can still pay up to 20c litre higher in other nearby stations . Although Spain has a cool way also of giving ye back some of tax at checkout. Great footage again.
Cool video, hot engine 🙃 That reminded me when i was trying to attempt a monastery high in the mountains with a ‘87 jetta 1.6TD with four ppl and a trailer with camping gear. Maaan, at some point it was struggling even in 1st gear 😮 and because i’m lucky, it blew the fuse for the cooling fan. 😂 got to love them old VW’s
Great video guys! We are heading up towards Costa Brava as it’s too hot in Granada. Currently 24 degrees at 2200hrs! You guys need a diesel heater! Put it on your list. Will you go to Bardenas Reales? It’s stunning and has a circular 30km route through.
Thanks guys!! You will love Costa Brava!! Tamariu, Sa Tuna, Begur they're all beautiful 😍 Right now it's 11°C and it's perfect :) I'm fine with out a heater but Ane has Spanish blood and not use to it 🤣🤣 We did the Bardenas Reales last year, we want to visit an abandoned village in Yesa and maybe film a video sleeping alone in an abandoned village 👀👀
Shame on you both trying to make poor old Fergus climb those nasty steep hills. Like my good self hes a gentleman of a certain age now and we cant be going up mountains at our time of life!!🤣🤣
We definitely push Fergus to its limits!! I like to think that secretly he loves travelling with us and going on all these adventures, but he is a bit dramatic and likes breaking down every now and then for a little attention. 😂😂

When the temperature rises.
you can turn on the heater and turn on your blower.
it cools better.
Yeah I had the heater on full blast 🤣🤣 but that hill was torture... the 1.6 is not fit for them.
But definitely makes a help having the heater on
It's such a pity that your holiday is most about your van and it's problems in stead of enjoying the travels.... hope all the best for you.
We don't call them problems they're just character building 🤣🤣 we still have a blast tho :) thanks for watching
Thanks.

Always a fab video from you guys ❤
Thank you 💙
Fergus certainly has soul and character In abundance 🚙✅
That is for sure!! Mind of his own 🤣🤣
I only watch this to see how you overcome the mechanical challenges!
That we have many of! Lucky this time was only a loose jubilee clip and a swap of the inline fuel filter :)

Wow that jetty had a lot of extra weight!! Imagine a 1.6 non turbo in a van 🤣🤣🤣
Love these old Volkswagens 🤣🤣
Wonderful video again Shane and Ane, great new shots with the camera x
Thanks Roly!! Glad you liked it :) and the toolbox made an appearance 😉🤣😅
@@ShaneandAneVanLife good night, god bless you two xx
@@RolyHough Thanks Roly❤️

When you was restoring the van did you replace the radiator, also what coolent/anti freeze mix do you have?
No never replaced the radiator. The cooling system works but that hill was just insane it was so steep and so long. I'm not sure on the mix
