To sum this up, you do NOT show: - how you connect it to the fuse box (actually connecting, (not) bypassing ignition, etc.) - how you mount the antenna (using some custom bracket) - how you pass it through the firewall (using some existing customizations)
One UHF brand I have had huge success with is icom (not oricom) I got the icom 410pro I previously had the older icom 400pro and it never missed a beat. Those radios are built like a tank.
@@procheckautomotivemechanic4551 yeah look at the end of the day it depends on budgets, The reason why I like ICOM is one it's fully supported here in Australia and made in Japan. A lot of heavy industries or mining use their radios. A mate however made the mistake of getting a oricom UHF and found it was so hit & miss with the quantity. As for antenna I use GME love them. And their is nothing wrong with uniden.
@@procheckautomotivemechanic4551 yes they are super strong. I accidentally ran over mine, apart from a few minor scratches it worked well. I had it for many years no issues whatsoever.
@@handymandev03 everything uniden is garbage. We use them in heavy machinery and the utes and had nothing but problems with them. Moved to gme and haven’t had a single issue
Hey Mate, just having an issue trying to run my cable through the firewall on my N80 I’ve tried the right side next to the wires as the cable doesn’t want to go into the nipple.. any would be appreciated!
Hey guys, I have the same bracket but the 3M does not hold. Credit to hear electric who resent primer and tape out but it hasn’t solver the problem. Do you have the same issue or any suggestions?
Hey Laura Funny you should say that! It actually fell off the other day. I contacted gear electric and they are sending me a primer and instructions on how to fit it, but sounds like it won’t fix the issue. I will be looking for another option so stay tuned
I have same bracket, been to tip of Cape York & back to Vic & plenty of High Country trips over 12 months. Corrugations north of the Jardine were insane. Mine has never moved! I did leave it to set properly for a few days before hanging the microphone off it & was pedantic with prepping the area as per instructions. Good luck, great bit of kit 👍

i loved it when roothy "accidently" backed over one in their early dvd's and it didn't budge or break,. A much better build than my old GME

Bead locked rims are actually illegal on the road in Qld apparently, but each to their own 😉
