I love seeing smart young couples like this who take on building their own home, and do it with such style and incorporate their own ideas. Colby is right - tiny houses are really important, and it's crazy how in so many places they are talking about the housing crisis, but not allowing for tiny house communities to be built! Nice design and love the window area. The different tones of the wood are cool. Seeing your cats was a treat, especially the one climbing into the loft.
The bump out on the front end is very different than what we see in tiny homes. I would use the dramatic height to leave it open in the living room to give the impression of a huge space. I find their loft a really nice height and since it is long , it makes the loft very spacious. I find the space for the stove a bit awkward even if I admire the effort to make it look original, the color of the stove is interesting, love it. But the way the stove is placed it restrict the bathroom space too much for my liking. I love how they used and re used material for the kitchen. The little chairs go well in the space. I would put shelves in the garage door at the back to use the vertical space but they might not have to do that. since theiy have other sheds to store their stuff.They put most of their money into solar; good choice. If they get a EV, like a used Nissan Leaf, they won't have to buy gaz!! They have a beautiful property and owning the land is the best option.
I love their wood stove, and just that whole room it's in, aw heck the whole house that room is in 😆. Great build. I'm coming more and more to love and appreciate the entire DIY tiny, how they're put together as materials are brought in. They are all one of a kind 💕

The thumbs up is for the channel on this one. I personally wasn't very impressed with the house. But, I'm an old woman who lived through the 60's and 70's, and choose not to relive them. I'm so glad they are happy though, and contributing to the tiny house movement. I really enjoy watching the personalities of the people reflect in their builds and decor choices. :)

Hey J, we looked for months for a town that has no zoning, and then we called the town administrator and told them our plan to make sure we understood everything correctly and they gave us the OK. So the big tip I found is No Zoning is a must!
@@LivingElsewhere I agree one hundred percent! My husband and I are general contractors and we deal with zoning issues all the time. So many places are changing their zoning laws to stop people from moving mobile homes in so it makes it almost impossible to build a tiny home. Its frustrating.
It looks like a dream. You really brought the earth and it's beauty into your home. With all the wood it now screams "moss please!!" 😃 (seriously, some moss would be the cherry on the cake) I'm sure forest people like faeries and gnomes like your house too ❤️

Hey Laura, we bought the land, still owe the bank for the loan, but it's much less than our rent was a few towns over. The trick was saving up for the deposit!

28x8.5 with two 8x8 lofts should be about 390 square feet, so unless you have a 32x12 mobile it's not. You're just disorganised? Now if you include decking, or shed maybe 12x10? That's a 42x12 or 36x14. 52x14 I think was our previous mobile home? That's 2 bed 1 bath in 728 square feet.
I think this pandemic has taught people the importance of multiple streams of income, unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security rather having different investments is the real deal

When you have a loft with that much head room you know you have a good build. This is a practical and yet a beautiful build!!

The huge front porch is very nice and makes up for the tiny interior.

Atlanta has a horrible housing crunch, but they're mulling the idea of tiny homes in backyards if you have the space.

What is the size of your woodstove?
So it's a "Vermont Castings Intrepid II." I'm not 1005 sure of the size, but it fits about 17" logs max, it's a little smaller than most big stoves.
