See the TPS community is tops! People like Matt McGrath donating his super chat to another viewer may seem like a small thing, but it's huge! Things like that contribute along with the gracious hosts and BV to make this a space a warm and positive place to be. It's such a nice break to get away from all of the negativity. Without channels TPS, Produce Like a Pro, 5 Watt world & Uncle Larry, and some others - YT would be a much bleaker place. Thanks to the regulars in the chats, you folks are the best!
31:13 This is why VCQ is so perfect for watching while I tune up and run scales! It’s just some of my favorite dudes talking about guitars and stuff without the distraction of actual playing when I’m warming up.
I'm so behind on episodes and never get to tune in to VQA anymore, but thank you, Gents, for answering my drop-in Q. I don't put the tea cup on the couch shoulder because I know it will spill. So, I agree with Dan and I will avoid trying to make easy my amp to cab experimenting.
When you do head to Nashville, you most likely will change planes in Atlanta, GA. So you might as well plan a stop to see Rhett and/or Rick. If you do that, you can plan to see me 😆 Hear me out! I work at a high voltage testing lab that is part of GA Tech called NEETRAC. One of our labs is about 100x50ft and 50ft tall. Just a big warehouse building with a 2.5 story lightning generator and other 60's scifi looking things. The natural reverb in there is amazing. Would make a great backdrop for interview/hang/guitar jam! Dylan Adams is a few hours south, maybe Rhett could get him to come up too! Audio could be tricky, but maybe Rhett/Rick could help with that since they are local 😊At some point we can unplug all the gear and fire up some electricity. Good news is, its right near the airport and not downtown. So, afterwards, hop on a quick flight up to Nashville. You can't blame for trying right?! Cheers!
Thank you Dan & Mick for all you offer us each week ! Always inspiring and motivating. The audio level in this episode is far better than it has been the past few weeks. Before this one I've had to crank the level on my Roku TV. This one is spot - on ! You both seem to be in great spirits. Dan - it looks as if your head is healing nicely. With Gratitude - John
Mick when you were talking about simplicity in your board ect the dry bell vibe machine v-2 demo nails it have a look for real I think it's what you are referring to. Thanks for all tps does !
Great show, as always! It's been a top week for me - just in time for my birthday, I managed to snag a birth year tele from Mike at ATB (1971) and it's bloody marvelous. I also put together a small UAD-based board; UA max split into a D&M drive, feeding my UAD Dream 65, then out into my new Ox Stomp. Simple, quiet and outstanding sound quality. A perfect recording rig, and my Quad Cortex is likely heading to a new home because I can get just about everything I need out of those 4 pedals. Happy days!
Clarity with humbuckers… yes to everything D&M mention, but also consider using a 0.015u cap in instances where you feel your guitars tone is veiled. Like something is holding the tone back. 0.015u caps are now popping up as an option on boutique luthier wiring looms , specifically for helping to keep the neck pickup more open sounding. Obviously mileage varies from guitar to guitar, but I’ve had some fantastic results with this approach and rolling off the neck tone with gain to get some of the quackiest and best woman tone. One of the cheapest mods available and yet it can yield magical results on some guitars for those of us that like rolling tone down without the muffle and great woman tone.
As it was with the H90 journey (try, try, try, give up and go back to simple), so we have also converged on tubes. Last week I dug out my Jackson Newcastle 30 to run in stereo with a 6L6 TR Vintage Deluxe (I know, slumming it) and, in the process of innocently searching out two replacement 12AX7s for the Tubesteader Magnezium OD pedal, wound up ordering two different sets of matched quad EL84s to try in the Jackson. Edit: EL86!! I also tripped and fell into the speaker rabbit hole as part of rewiring a 2x12 cab to run said stereo rig (entirely the fault of the Walrus Meraki delay and Poly Verbs, er, reverbs, which are so good in stereo that they have pivoted me away from wet/dry), and now have an EVM12L and a Celestion Gold in the cab, plus a couple of other speakers on the way to try. Best tone i’ve ever had, mind. At 108 db it’s bloody incredible.
Overdrive that cleans up nicely with decreased guitar volume: The venerable Carpe Diem. It’s my almost-always-on device, and it’s EQ is very responsive.
Question for Dan: any chance we'll ever see a Gigrig/Robert Keeley collaboration on a G3 Atom with built in Keeley Multi-Effects? I would love to have a true analog dry through signal path, with some delay/reverb/envelope/tremolo to get my board a bit smaller, with all the same attention to my analog pedals as the Gigrig does. Best of all worlds imo. I'm sure you're sick of product ideas, but had to mention it. Thanks both of you for all the work you put into the show!
Great show LEG END'S, you guys are getting older and older guitars , fast forward a couple of years it will be the TPS show with everyone playing gut strung Acoustics with special guests Don Quixote & Sancho Panza. When you're younger you want the latest kit & the older you get you just want the really good kit . Andertons did an extensive deep dive on picks , I must admit I've tried all the usual ones. Fortunately I never completely lost my mind & paid £70.00 for pick made from " THE STONE OF TRUTH" that Merlin has to guide you to ( BUT ONLY IF YOUR THE ONE " because there can only be one !!! . Thanks again" HOWAY THE LADS " I wish Mick would get his Geordie pals on the show Sid the Sexist etc. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.
Mick, it does have side jacks and it's bigger than the smallest tuner, but Korg does a tuner where you press the surrounds of the display. No extra space for a footswitch needed, the entire face of the pedal is a footswitch
Add a nice slice of "quality-bad-for-you" scottish lorne sausage (NOT HALL'S) with the beens on top. Best beens on toast. BTW. Your wife is correct about seeded bread. Especially with butter and honey. Sesame, pumpkin etc. they all add a lovely nuttyness. Cool stream guys!
Great discussion on picks. On the acoustic guitar i tend to like lighter picks for strumming and harder ones for muted/percussive stuff. But fpr electric it has to be the small jazz 3 and it has to be red. Bought them because of Ian D'Sa from Billy Talent and never looked back
Hi guys i can tell you that my les Paul wasn’t great sounding but after i contacted Monty’s i told him what i was looking for and he delivered in spades my guitar tech could not believe the difference they made the guitar is a 2009 50th anniversary les Paul that came with a set of burst buckers that just didn’t sound the way i wanted them to but now it is a proper Les Paul that i will cherish til i can’t play anymore.
@WoolyFox was right - the Korg Pitchblack XS is exactly what Dan and Mick described - a tuner whose little square display face is the on/off switch. Side jacks, but still, pretty small.
The smallest pedalboard tuner I’ve found is the Swiff Audio C10 or C20. Bad news: Side jacks and top power. Good news: 41mm square base. The display is the footswitch. My Boss BCB-30 grab and go board now has a tuner in it, velcro struck in a corner 😎
Hey Mick, on the tuner issue, Rock Stock Nano sold on Amazon is super tiny. You step on the screen for on off. Might be a solution for you. Cheers, Brian.
In regard to never playing a 7-string guitar, they don't have to be for the down tuned chuggy metal. They are classified as extended range, so maybe just think of them in that manner?
Mick, FYI for the Peterson Strobostomp Mini to be at its slimmest, use USB C power option. I have a Cioks DC7 which has USB out, so you get the power and the jacks at the top. Otherwise you need to use a normal power input that goes into the side.
Going small eh? I'm trying the to do the same, but Pedaltrain does not make a Nano 50cm long board... and they should add strap-points on the back of the soft cases to be able to hang them off the guitar gigbags..
Can you make a video with the boss ce1 chorus ensemble and the electric misstress in parallel and other modulations pedals or phaser and chorus in parallel? I cant find it on TH-cam 😊
I want a tuner with the input on the side and output in the top, essy to plug into and it can be much narrower because you don't have to stack the input and output
Guys - FYI - Mary Spender just dropped a video interviewing Tim Pierce. He gives a great overview of the pedal board he will use playing on the Grammy Awards! 👍
Hi........i dont need a response from are 2 hosts..........but im sure the community will answer.........Whats in Micks 2 cabs on show.........thank you.......😮

Quick query to the Leg Ends and to the community. Got a TC Electronic SCF gold Chorus Flanger. Sits as the first modulation pedal on my board. Running in the front not through an effect loop. Fine with all my drive pedals except the EHX Soul Food which tips it into overload. Help!
Yep! There’s an input gain control there somewhere that you can turn down….. but don’t worry too much unless it’s audibly distorting and you don’t like it. Some of the fun can be in pushing that pedal a little bit, but let your ears be the judge!
You need to crowdsource funds for a timelinist - if youre going to continue to punish the southern counties like Australia with your wilful disregard re: live show times, and frankly Daniel has no excuse to not raise this core issue having been home recently :)
Mick, thank you for your take on covered humbuckers! Covered humbuckers on a strat drive me crazy. Looks absolutely terrible to me. Makes me angry every time I see it.
To be fair, I did get the idea of passing my SuperChat to someone in the normal chat from the person who did that last week. But the epic bean rant was amazing and certainly not something anyone saw coming. 😆
"Maybe we should invent it..." Guys... Guys! Dan owns a company where they make guitar pedal stuff, including a built-in tuner! You have the technology! Throw together a couple of enclosures and see what works best. Get on it!

I’m so jealous of the cat who got Blue. 😢. I hope he gets a treasure trove of joy from it.

Yahoo! Got my That Pedal Show t-shirt in the mail today! I'm even going to keep the wrapping tissue too because it's cool!
12:35 Yes! Here in the States we have Dirty Logic Steely Dan Tribute Band. That is the take away. Unbelievable skill level!!! 13 musicians!

would really love to see questions/sections timestamped on these in the future!!

I have to agree with your high opinions about the AC15C1 and French salted butter...
I own an original 61 since 82. I absolutely love it. Don't use the tremolo much.
I'm an electric guitar player, but I would love to see an episode on acoustic guitar effects!
Yes!!! Youre coming up north. Get in. Will see you at the Cavern lads!!

I love TPS comments and questions! Best part of Mondays.

Just missed it coming from judo training and saw the Anderton's bit with Dan! It was lovely! Just wanted to say to Dan: cheers mate!

USA Maryland here… grew up eating Beans on toast. 54 yrs old raised by Grandparents on small farm.

Sorry I missed this live. Watching now.
Baked beans definitely a British thing. Mass market cassolette! Haricot beans in tomato sauce. US beans tend to be black eye beans fried with bacon
Hi. Re: small tuners for pedalboards. Just noticed Pedaltrain doing one with leads for sockets. Hope this helps
Just ordered one... And a Peterson. Let's see what works! Might even get a video out of it.
@@ThatPedalShow would love to see - that Korg Pitchblack has piqued my piquey bits!
MICK! if you’re into Erica, have you checked out Ella Feingold who used to play with her? (She may still) Would be amazing to see her on the show.
Nice!
“Jimmy Page never had a pedal tuner, did he?!”… outstanding! Haha 😂😂

Beans on toast is a favourite in Canada!
Can’t believe you’re coming to Witney 🙌

Warwick rock board ....love mine .
Was just about to ask if you could get the Gibson Falcon 5 on the show & moments later you mentioned it!😊
Looking forward to hearing your opinions 👍🏻
Beans and cornbread is more of a thing in the southern part of the us
Hey Mick! I grew up in New England and have Irish and English roots, we definitely ate beans on toast a lot growing up.
Walrus | Canvas TUNER Pedal
Has top jacks
Agreed
Come on, an interview with Reeves Gabrels would be soooo good.
Can you make a video with the boss ce1 chorus ensemble and the electric misstress in parallel and other modulations pedals or phaser and chorus in parallel? I cant find it on TH-cam 😊
Nice. Yeah we can do that!
I want a tuner with the input on the side and output in the top, essy to plug into and it can be much narrower because you don't have to stack the input and output
Billy here from Baltimore..You guys should demo review the Bogner Burnley
Pedaltrain do a tiny tuner which sits between the pedals on your board (but you can't work it with your foot)
Guys - FYI - Mary Spender just dropped a video interviewing Tim Pierce. He gives a great overview of the pedal board he will use playing on the Grammy Awards! 👍
Nice!

Interesting you guys were talking about playing with fingers and getting the best tone. Just listen to Derek Trucks as evidence for that argument!
Sorry Mick, you have to reduce the bean juice to thicken the consistency. It's the law. Otherwise it's bean soup. 😂
You need to crowdsource funds for a timelinist - if youre going to continue to punish the southern counties like Australia with your wilful disregard re: live show times, and frankly Daniel has no excuse to not raise this core issue having been home recently :)
I use different picks for acoustic and electric. John petrucci picks for electric and prs .88 green picks for acoustic. Does anyone else do this?
Mick, thank you for your take on covered humbuckers! Covered humbuckers on a strat drive me crazy. Looks absolutely terrible to me. Makes me angry every time I see it.
Hard to recognize Dan without a tele in his hands. The sg fits him well.
British Heinz baked beans are completely and utterly different to US Heinz beans which are full of huge amounts of sugar, and randomly - pork sausages
…and enough sodium to start a salt mine
To be fair, I did get the idea of passing my SuperChat to someone in the normal chat from the person who did that last week. But the epic bean rant was amazing and certainly not something anyone saw coming. 😆
