It must be a dreamjob working in such a great guitar store and check all these beautiful guitars. And I can imagine the sweet smell of precious woods. Thank you for sharing this a bit with us.
Wonderful, spectacular instrument and so beautifully played. You really draw the sound out of the instrument with artistic sensitivity! Too many players just play the same way on every guitar, sort of imposing their will on it. But there is an art to deeply listening to the instrument and adjusting one's touch to bring out the best qualities of the instrument and clearly you have that gift.
Shame they, the makers, dont give 2 shits about regular guys. You think I could ever afford a 5-10K guitar? Fuck this shit. I love the guitars, hate the makers.
@wobbly nostrils Just go to any guitar manufacturers official site and the prices are there and also in the stores. I don't actually hate guitar makers. I just hate how distant they are to regular guys when the make plywood guitars sounding like ass for 400$ and more... But the really good guitars are 2000$ and up. I don't have that money... Ever in my country! I will never be able to buy a Martin d18 in my life! But... I can enjoy the shit plywood Martin dcpa and similar.... For a 1000$....id rather buy a Yamaha ll or Fender CD.... But you can never be satisfied with those in terms of sound.
@wobbly nostrils Listen, currently I own a Takamine TAN15C. It's made in 2011 but was made since 2003-2012 I think. Back then it costed like 1400-2000$ depending on the country you bought it in. I got it for 500$ second hand in super kind condition. All solid wood like Martin d28 and sounds amazing. Pros use it too especially for the tube preamp installed. It's a pro guitar. When I got it it smelled like spruce woods! And it still does. Hand picked woods and handcrafted. So my advice never buy a new guitar, there are sites like Reverb.uk, where you can buy any guitar for half price or less. You think I just got 500$ lying around? Nope. Had to shit save on everything for 4 months like crazy.
@wobbly nostrils actually, if the top is solid wood and the back and sides plywood, it's still OK. The top is responsible for resonating and vibrating. Ever touched a top of an acoustic right after you strum the strings? Your fingers clearly feel the vibrations. The vibrations are good and if the top wood is solid and of good quality, the tone will be better. Some guitar even at 1500$ are semi-solid. I don't like that much, I want to pay good money for all solid wood. But in the end the tone matters. Takamine are really easy to distinguish from other guitars because of the headstock. I don't like the huge thick one on the cheap models. The TAN15C (cedar) and tan16c (spruce) have nice slick thin headstock with golden takamine sign and good amber tuners. I don't really care for guitars that boast huge loads of abalone purfling all around the body and neck. I like traditional low profile design. Takamine calls it understated beauty and they managed to make a guitar that costed 1600$ but was equivalent to 2500$ and more.
Btw I used to own a really cheap Montana dread which I got for 50$. That was like 10 years ago. I lived it. It had dents, scratches and looked like from a trash can, but it was really nice. I thought the sound was amazing. Then I got to try some 1000$ guitars and immediately switching back I realized that just because a guitar makes sound, that doesn't mean it's the same for every other. For just home strumming a cheap one will do but even laymen want good things and once you hear the Martin's and Taylor's you just can't settle for plywood anyone.
What an absolute stunning top and in redwood no less. Very unusual to see that kind of figure in redwood. I like the fact you didn’t overly dress this up as this top is the star. It has a beautiful balanced tone which I expect will get better with age.
Very nice guitar and Matt's playing is wonderful. I do found the guitar sounds a bit bright but that maybe due to the recording but wow! the bottom end and the overall balance not to mention note to note separation is wonderful. And the looks - that is just marvelous!
That's the most beautiful top I think I've seen in Redwood. Amazing beauty. The tone has a plumpness to it that I imagine comes from the Cocobolo body and sides, with warmth from the Redwood. I'll bet this one sells fast!
Just listened this H&M OM Custom demo. Whiles loved the look, the sound isn't (yet) opened and airy; slightly stuffy or damped. It needs to be opened up with given given it a good year of heavy playing. By then I am sure it will be great.
Trees often have/had character much like people do. That top, in particular, is of a very special depth of character that is very similar to Matt’s. It really suits the depths and dynamics of his musical vision very well. Thanks, as always, for all the beautiful demos!
Wow, another exquisite demonstration of a Redwood top guitar and a beautiful fingerstyle tune to show its incredible tone! Matt I'm curious if you purchased one of your previous demonstrations or custom built your own Redwood top guitar?
Ok I know Is one of a kind , Cost? Yes there was a day I pay for this With a Martin Om at 3000 ancf most Huss Dalton over 4000 , 10 grand is not out of the question
Beautiful guitar. Not over decorated, the wood is fabulous and so the sound.
This is how a man on a fixed budget begins to contemplate a life of crime to finance a hunk of waterlogged wood.
@Matt·Dylan ive dropped 3 times that. Some trees just speak to your soul
Will Mac Totally agreee my friend... perhaps tonight’s lotto will bear fruit and... well you get the rest :)

Matt, you are magic. Just wonderful artistry in your playing. Awesome guitar!!
WOW! Looks and sound - can't beat that combination!
And, a sinker redwood/cocobolo OM is on my bucket list...
Mother of pearl Brand inlay was a perfect touch for this beautiful creation
Wow !! That's insanely crystalline tones ❣❣ 💓
Beautiful guitar - a real earthy sound quality and stunning cosmetically!
The awesome beauty and sound from trees. Truly the Spirit of the trees and you Matt! Thank You Kindly! DaveyJO in Pa.

I just found out huss and dalton is located in staunton, virginia. I live about 20 mins away in harrisonburg and had no clue!
I like the mellow tone. Was wondering how Redwood with Koa body would compare?
Wow !

Ok I know Is one of a kind , Cost? Yes there was a day I pay for this With a Martin Om at 3000 ancf most Huss Dalton over 4000 , 10 grand is not out of the question
Here's the deal; I'll buy that guitar for full price as long as you throw in a guitar strap made from your beard at no additional cost.
Should I ask the price.
A pick guard on it is a sinn
I'll give you 200 bucks for it!!
That wouldn't even get you a tuner
Georgia O’Keefe inspired back, obviously...
no need for a concert; just play it for a few seconds in a few tunings.
Good sound but bad finish in the front, seems like its homemade .
Give you $1000 bucks for it........
beard a little long. lol
Man I bet that thing Djents so hard
