I'm thankful for this video existing. With the way GW is going, I'm looking elsewhere and Infinity is one of them. Community may be tiny compared to GW's, but I'm willing to pick up starter box and play some demo games at my local game store and get something going.
If there's no starter pack with factions I'm interested, or could entice a 40k player to try, how feasible would it be to make my own box set with Code: One rules in mind? I'm thinking Tunguska Jurisdictional Command + something PanO + some scenery.
Pan O came in Kaldstrøm and probably has its own action pack by now. To be honest you could get started with almost any faction. You won’t have profiles for anything outside the core 6 for now but you could play as one of those factions with whatever models you like until you’re familiar with the game and can play N4 profiles.
Take the jump. I have never looked back - games are fast paced, as a player you are always engaged in the narrative, it's way cheaper and the models actually look good. The rules are complex, though, so find someone friendly to flatten out the learning curve. I love that anything can take out anything else - clutch wins happen often.

I was looking for beginner wargames that play relatively quickly to play with my wife, Infinity came up with Code One and their starter sets, so I went ahead and ordered Crimson Stone and this came as an extremely unpleasant surprise.
Most tabletop Wargames require models to be assembled and painted by their new owner. For many it’s most of what they enjoy about the hobby! You could get them assembled and painted by a commission painter if you really don’t want to do it yourself.

So many videos made ostensibly for Infinity beginners go off on tangential discussions about what you ought to do or will do to get into the game (N4, terrain, accessories, etc.), what N4 is and requires, how inadequate any starter boxes or Code One are. Even if that's not their aim, it really does put off potential players because there's a long discussion about what this game is supposed to be but there's no emphasis or focus on the actual gameplay, the mechanics. Here's what you do on the tabletop. Your video is 16:29 minutes of circular talk, lacking focus of what a newbie needs to know. Must be a characteristic of the meta.
Very possibly, I’m also quite a waffle person at times too. I certainly don’t think code one is bad, in fact it’s by far the best way to get into the game. Same with the code one boxes. I don’t think any other game has two players starter sets that are as good as these. I’ve covered gameplay and mechanics in other videos but do you think combining the kit you need to get started and a discussion on core mechanics would be beneficial to new players?
Check out my crimson stone tutorials. I try and focus on the game mechanics without any divergence. Although I am using crimson stone missions, I add a few extra simple rules that are useful to know if N4. Basically, I use crimson stone to explain N4. Let me know what you think.
Have played infinity 3 times now and the game still irks me. The rules are poorly written (my friends and I are constantly having to re-read the rules and interpret intention - likely because they're translated), the army list builder is AWFUL, and there's a few jarring rules like armour saves which aren't consistent with the rest of the game's design. Add to this that it is extremely hard to figure out what to buy and for whom... even with Code One it's not a great experience for new players. My friends and I have played TONS of different wargames, I have at least 30 in my collection and infinity is one of the hardest games we've found to pick up and play. It's a real shame because the models are awesome the lore is excellent. Compare this with their other products like Aristeia! or the upcoming Warcrow (which looks awesome), Infinity is way, way more complex and much harder to learn how to play.
Have you played N4? They streamlined the gameplay massively and it sounds like N5 (coming out in October) will rewrite the armour saves to be in line with other rolls.
Thanks for letting me know. I have noticed a heap more appearing even in the videos I watch. Is it the ones at the beginning or during that are most annoying?
@@the_infinitygamer I don't mind ads at the beginning or end, you are putting a lot of work into this and I want to support the channel. Ads in the middle can work if it's a single block in the middle but (and maybe my fault for not paying attention here) I think this had blocks at the beginning and end and then a couple in the middle just after the start and just before the end. If ads at the start are not enough, my personal preference would be one block around the middle, ideally (and I don't know how easy or hard this is) at some point where it makes sense, so not mid-segment and definitely not mid-sentence. Just my 2c, keep up the good work and sorry if I came off abrupt.

How active is the competitive community for this game in the states?
Pretty active. Look for Infinity Global Community (IGC) on Facebook for groups or use the Warcor map.
Let me know what you think.
cool
Welp, I guess it's time to redo this video :)
Hahaha you’re very right
Merci !
THANK YOU!! I really appreciate this 🥰
I would Love to play this game, but in my country the minis are like,100000 reais
You could buy a Rolex for that sort of money 😂
Are you Kiwi?!
I’m British but live in New Zealand 😃
@@the_infinitygamer that would be great to see if possible. I’ve been playing code one.
There is an Arabic army yet no one in the Middle East plays the game?
I think there might be some Middle Eastern gaming groups. IGC Facebook group will know!
The price of anything collectible is prohibitive for countries outside of G7
We try and manage here in NZ!
Anyone else jumping ship from 40K?
You are one of a few comments across my videos saying the same 😃
Interesting! Anyway, this is a great intro!
@@Bifstak yes. Years ago when infinity was N2. Early 2000s. Was a good jump.
Good video but quite heavy on the ads...
Not at all! It’s a balancing act trying to work out what’s acceptable for viewers so they watch future videos without worrying that they’ll be bombarded. Also a balance to try and earn enough to keep justifying the time. Thanks so much for the feedback 😀
Great video, as usual from my favorite content creator on Infinity... Even if I'm not the target of this video, because this year I have collected two full tables, 5 sectorials force [O-12 as main, after many of your showcase vids] and a full-range of accessories 😅
😂😂😂 definitely not a newcomer but you’re a great example of how to do the hobby properly! I really appreciate your kind words Rob, just the positivity I need!
Step 1: find a table
Or don’t if TTS is your thing 😜
Infinity is more expensive to play than warhammer
Because the models are more attractive so you buy more of them?
