Shaun, great video and I have followed you for some time now, I have always looked after my lawn but your tutorials have taken it to another level this year. My lawn by the way is 30 years old and it looks A1 so cheers. Thanks for doing what you do 👏👏👏
Brilliant video, thanks Shaun, starting to buy more products for the lawn. Your Emerald green and turfsolv have made a huge difference to my lawn this year, I'm hoping my lawn will be so much healthier next year. So glad I found your channel. Thanks again 😊
Great effort! One thing your videos can benefit from is adding on the "week later results" !!! I know it will take a lot more effort to put a video together but this will bring your content to the next level! Best of luck
Another great video, Shaun. I was going to renovate and overseed again this month but the lawn is looking so good, with no thatch accumulation, so I'll renovate next Spring. Still no reply from Moto-Tek about the verticutter cassette for the Stihl. Business must be very good for him.
Great video Shaun. I’m using Turfsolv for first time. First application down and planning two more over next month. Also going to try to do the nitrogen blitz with weekly treatments on ammonia sulphate until temps fall to 10 degrees and below. Last treatment hopefully before Xmas to see what lawn looks like in Spring.
Like your video but query your statement that the soil is contaminated dog wee. It’s most likely your dog(s) wee is quite concentrated and of an alkaline ph, and that along with the salts in the wee is what kills the grass initially, but that gets diluted and neutralised over time. The other ingredients of dog wee do no harm at all to grass nor the soil. Try to have your dog(s) drink more water, that would lessen the effects of the wee on your lawn.
Hi Shaun, wondered if you would mind telling me if I'm going in the right direction with lawn Reno's. Hoping Ive got the understanding of the process correct. Once I've don't the Initial renovation, next visit follow up, checking how things are going and reseeding as necessary. 6-8 weeks later then dealing with weeds etc which are usually quite bad by then , then 6 weeks afterwards give any extra seeding to areas where weeds and moss have been killed, and then just having patience to hopefully see the lawn thrive 🤞 have I understood this process roughly right. Trying to build my confidence and increase my knowledge. Thanks as always for sharing your wisdom and experience with such enthusiasm. All the best Nigel
Hi Nigel thats not bad really.. usually when yiouyve renovated you've taken out most of the moss anyway, and the seeding at the time allows for new seeds to fill in any bare spots.. so yes Reno with scarify/aerate/seed/topdress.. then often thats enough.. as long as watered religiously and no birds or heavy rain/strong winds, should be a nice even coverage (you could use a fleece to help..). then yes do a check up when needed.. the weeds can be tackled a minimum of 6 weeks after renovating as long as its thriving.. but just be aware it'll take longer to kill them as temperatures drop.. mid October ive usually stopped weedspraying unless things are still mild and things are still growing.. see how it goes, you can always seed any areas where weeds were (but often isn't needed), but prob end up being spring for that last seed (as it'll be too close anyway to the weedspraying, and won't give enough time for the seeds to come through)
@@LawnRight thanks Shaun, I really appreciate your time in replying to me , and good to have a little reassurance I’m ok the right lines . All the best and thanks again
Love ya lawn in summer , going to try thus winter to prep it properly, what grass seed n were do ya get it , and what time of year is best for overseed, best place to get ya dressed top soil , I live just up the road in leeds . Any advice will be appreciated cheers pal
Any seed is fine even general amenity.. I use hurrells seeds and mines a creeping csi rye grass from them. Any multi purpose compost is fine if dry n crumbly.. Home bargains growmoor in purple bags or visit lawnright.co.uk/compost
Id prob do that next april then start in may otherwise it'll be dead all winter and could even get more moss forming over winter.. But it may just need a good scarify instead of killing it all off
Great video as always. I’ve just bought the A1 autumn/winter fertiliser and was just going to use that, but now seeing this video I’m thinking perhaps I also use the iron sulphate and seaweed as well? Can you overdo it even with sticking to the right measurements for each product? Thanks
Hi you'll be fine to add the iron in as well.. Just be careful it doesn't goon hard surfaces.. I always leave a square at the corner of the lawn.. When finished spraying I stand in the square, wipe my feet and step off the lawn the a final spray in that square means i haven't transferred any iron to the paths

Hi Sean, the link you provided to the liquid gypsum in the description looks to be a different brand with quite wildly different dilution rates (5-20 litres/hectare or 4 litres/100m^2 from a watering can) to the one you've used. Was that intentional? Thanks
Hello! I have a leatherjacket problem as well as a heavy clay soil. Would you recommend treating the leatherjackets with nematodes at the same time as aeration, or waiting a week or two? Thank you!
Thanks Shaun. Great content as usual. 👍🏼 I’ve been looking at one of those wheeled fert distributors for use as a top dresser. How do you think it will perform if set to the smallest aperture, and filled with dry sand or a sand/soil mix? (I’m getting a bit old and lazy to be flicking out 1/2 tonne of sand with a shovel!)
Thanks for the another good video Shaun. I've just carried out my autumn lawn renovation, is it ok to use autumn & winter fertiliser (10/5/10) together with seaweed or should I use a spring & summer one but could be cutting it fine this time of year?
Great video. I’m in a bit of quandary, I did a full renovation in early April (scarify, overseed and top dress) and it’s come through well. some meadow grass has appeared in a clump (i live in a rural area) in 3 square metre area of 120 square metre lawn.thinking of doing a light scarify and take out the meadow grass and overseed/topdress. What do you think just address the key problem or do all the garden, would it put more pressure on the grass so soon after the last renovation in the spring ?
Hi if you mean scarify to remove the meadow grass, it won't, sadly.. Itll scarify it and then it'll just bounce back. Regular verticutting will help thin and weaken it over many months, or or fats results dig it out, then fresh soil and seeds.
@@LawnRight thanks Shaun for the prompt reply. Soinds like the best solution is digging it out soil and seed. it’s on my eye line as I look out the kitchen window so annoying! Will let you know how it goes.

We have our own baseline on lawn sizes but I always need to see the lawns first to assess if anything else needs doing, levelling etc. Try and base it on how long it would take.. Thats should be a days work at most, so a days income, plus small profit, and materials cost is where you need to be thinking - and of course, a solo operator may not charge as much as a large franchise
