Looking to step into the full suspension world and not break the bank. Excellent bike so far, rolling over what the trails can throw at it so far. Way more comfortable and confident. Great video! Thanks for the in-depth review! Ordered my 2021 Stance 29 2 three months ago here in San Diego, CA and I’m praying it comes in soon 🙏🏽 AND with that Crest fork!
I got my 27.5 a couple of months ago, sounds bizarre but the Giant Crest works the same if not better than my Marzocchi Bomber Z2 (520$). Very impressed.
I walked into my local bike shop and they had just gotten this bike in, the 29 version. I really lucked out because it’s so hard to get anything these days, absolutely love the bike. Thanks for the great review, I learned a lot more about the bike. Also, dropper post is worth every penny and I totally agree about the grips.
Went to look for an affordable full suspension bike today at my local bike shop. The guy at the counter said it'd be months until any new mtbs became available. He then noticed a number of bikes still in their boxes. One of them was a Giant Stance 27.5 small frame. Somehow no one had it claimed, so I got it. Hitting the trails Friday morning. I have a dropper post on order.
Thanks for this. I just grabbed a 2021 Stance for my better half. I was glad to find out that the 2021 was a better choice over the 2022. Looks like in 2022 they put a lesser 10-speed drivetrain with an 11-46 cassette in order to make way for an included dropper post (and keep the bike price the same). The 2021 as you reviewed comes with a 12-speed 10-51, something my wife greatly welcomes. We simply added a dropper ourselves. A better value overall.

@@mcgarvy7 no worries bro! I'm an ol' school 46 yr old mtb guy where back in early 90's we had a much different drivetrain system! Previous bike I jammed was a 00' Specialized Rockhopper Comp, ht for a many yrs here in Az, Trailheads. Totally Loving my 1st FS Bike with the Giant Stance 1.
Awesome video great explanations. I'm currently riding a 20 year old Cannondale HT with a Headshok and need to upgrade. Currently do more in town riding but want to get back out on the trails. I am 6'2 210lbs would this be a good option for my riding or should I stick with a HT for now? Also how important is HTA for someone my height? Does the XL have a different angle on it?
Bike Bros - thank you for making the video. I rode this bike in the 29er version. I ride an XL frame and am a clydesdale at 300lbs. I'd like to be lighter, hence the bike. The local shop wanted to steer towards going up to the trance. Basically the stance rode great, I loved it. But I had a little bit of porpoising while test riding. am I too big for the suspension? Can I get it dialed in psi wise? Will I regret not having a lockout on both forks?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Your ride experience of porpoising may be from the shock not being set up at the correct pressure (too much sag). This may be related to your weight combined with the model of shock. If both are available to try, I would test ride both and make sure someone sets up air pressure for appropriate amount of sag. This could be a case where having a lockout or "soft lockout" like on a 3 position Fox shock may be beneficial. Also: pedalling position and smoothness of pedal stroke can affect things - almost all full suspension bikes will bob when pedalling out of the saddle and some people's pedalling technique can have bigger surges in power rather then smooth delivery of power which affects the suspension's feel of efficiency.
Us too. We've seen 3 (of the many we've sold) that had a clunk (fixed by Giant) but otherwise I think they're a good, lighter option to the offerings from Rockshox and Suntour typical on similar priced bikes.
It is wild that you are making videos like that. Are you a super high volume dealer? One local bike shop told me Giant cancelled every full suspension bike from their order. Another took me two tries to get on a list. No one has bikes on the floor, and it fees like the dealer feels they are doing me the favour by them selling me a bike.
Hi Devin, we aren't a huge dealer but bigger than most I've seen in my travels to other regions. I'm making these videos as a bit of a public service because many people will be shopping for bikes, and having to commit to them without ever throwing a leg over or seeing the bike in person. Stock we're receiving now is a result of orders placed a few months ago. Virtually all bikes from all manufacturers are sold out for next season, so unless a shop already has an order in their suppliers system at this point (probably would have had to be in their system at least 2 months ago), the bike will not be available. I'm sorry to hear about experiences with your local shops though I will say, this has been such a stressful year that many shop employees are just exhausted and their attitudes may be suffering. I hope you're able to track down a bike and happy trails ahead!
Thanks for the review. I was going for a hard tail as a beginner but the one I like was sold out and happen to find the last giant stance in the store. I have to say that I’m really happy about the bike and have been riding it even on the snow. What kind and brand of dropper post would you recommend?
Hi, thanks for watching! We like the Giant and OneUp droppers. Giant is one of the best priced posts and OneUp gives some flexibility with the amount of drop being adjustable.
Hello dear sir. I got this bike in XL size with the 27.5 wheels from my local bike shop in Oregon. I have noticed on my frame, that the part where the the top tube and the lower tube connect to the head tube, there is a clear gap in between the top and bottom tube and there is no welding. (If you go to 6:05 in your video you will see which part I mean). Is that normal on the XL frame? Thank you in advance.

Hi Paul, In Canada for the 2021 season, there are no different levels of Stance (like a Stance 1 or 2), just different wheels sizes. They're both the equivalent of the Stance 2. I notice that in USA there are 2 levels of Stance 29. Your 2021 Stance 1 was a great bike for sure - we never got that version in Canada.
Are you used to riding an older mountain bike from over 10 or 15 years ago? Geometries have changed to be more casual (not stretched) when seated but with proper technique make the bikes better at high speeds and descending... at 5'4 I think small is correct. You need to give it time to get used to the feel.
