    I like your "Buy us a coffee" instead of a "beer". I envy your just starting out sailing adventure....'cause I'm an old duffer wanting a do-over. That is a nice home and she will keep you safe as long as you strive to keep her seaworthy. You two are a lovable couple so please keep safe and take very good care of each other.....

    Two easy fixes for you to think about. If you want your non tailing winches to self tail just get a length of plastic fuel hose of a diameter that is a snug fit under the winches top lip, Cut a length that will wrap around the circumference of the winch at the top of the drum and fix it just below the top lip. (I used bungy cord threaded through the tube - I've seen others use sealent adhesive). Once thee hose ifs in place your winch will self tail if you fully load the drum with turns.
    Re stopping stuff from falling out of the open shelves -. I made up two screens (one for each side). I used a mesh cloth, but u can use what ever you want. Cut the cloth so it is big enough to cover all the open areas. I cut two lengths of white plastic piping of preferred diameter (like you get in B+Q plumbing) and attached the cloth top and bottom. I got screw in hooks of a size that would take the pipe. Screw these in opening facing down on the bottom ones, up on the top ones. when your going to sea, you can clip the screens in place and wind them tight around the pole. That way the screen stops anything falling out.

    With that boat you could get to the Med through the French canals. Either from the north or maybe (don't quote me on this) through the Canal du Midi.

      @@WildlingSailing I can appreciate that - I'm no fan of the stern thruster in the usual context but the prospect of chugging through bucolic rural France has its appeal. It's an option, anyway. You seem to have jumped in the deep end, sink or swim, and seem to be swimming just fine anyway.

    Hi guys! Just watched the boat tour and I'm amazed about how spacious your boat is. My boat is just one foot smaller than yours, but it seems the layout inside yours gives room for a lot more than in my boat. My boat has two benches in the saloon, but I want to redo the layout on the port side, building a dinette like yours there. Asking you a favor: Could you please take some measures of your dinette for me? Need the total length from one end to the other, lengthwise, plus size of table and the "chairs". It would be a great help to know before I start planning and working on this project.

    Nice one - a proper Tardis of a boat. I recognise the Summer pontoon at Dale. I guess you could go straight across and round Land's End. But a trip to Lundy (via Saundersfoot or Tenby) would be well worth it - but I guess a bit out of the way.
    And don't forget to tighten up that belt before you go ;)

    • @WildlingSailing

    @grahamsmith8122 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No sink! What do you use for a bum wash! Yes, samson post at the front, very strong and ideal for towing with! You'll need to make something to cover those lockers as all that stuff will be on the floor as soon as the boat starts to heal. I have a list of things I need to do before I head out to sea, including stowing stuff low down, securing stuff (guitars), make a flask of tea (or coffee?), bottles of water and snacks stowed in cockpit, passage plan gone through with crew, radio check, check torch works, life jackets in reach from cockpit, double check weather ...etc etc. You can keep adding to it until it becomes automatic. Oh, and don't bother shutting off the diesel supply to the engine, you might need it! oops to late. Turn the gas off. Keep up the good work, nice stitching on the vid.

      @WildlingSailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No ....... keep sleeping across the boat that way you can always choose the windward side to have your pillow depending on which tack you are sailing . If you are sleeping in a fwd vee berth with your head aft on the lee bunk your head will be lower than your feet . A very uncomfortable position to sleep .
