Is it just me or anyone else found hes voice calming? Idk every time i hear his voice on the show or anywhere else i found it calming and nice... He had a very nice voice. I love it.
@@sibionic And so what then? I was speaking in general, i am not familiar with him "only from this video" think, man xd ive seen him in other videos/films. I was speaking of him, not the quality of the video. Duh...
I'm so pleased he decided to play it straight down the middle as it suited him remarkably well.. My personal favourite Doctor... absolutely marvellous.. I preferred Jon to a lot of the other actors who played the Doctor.
Me too...and Tom Baker to a lesser extent. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 70's and these were the Dr Who's of my childhood....but I still think that they were objectively the best Doctors in the series. 😊
Jon Pertwee did acted in many films and radio but is fondly remembered for Dr. Who because his great character now comes to the fore. He's my favourite with Tom Baker close behind. Jon always comes across as light-hearted, humerous and very interesting. A real lovely guy!
UranusRemixer Yes first thing I thought when I spotted this. listening to him he sounds like his normal self, apart from looking like he should have taken a break.
He looks a bit fatigued here but in other interviews from 1996 he looks fine...probably should have taken a break from touring. Seemed like a lovely man
He also did a bit part in an episode of The Goodies, and gave his usual star performance. Also a hilarious performance. I didn't much care for the Worzel Gummidge series but I did watch bits of it and Jon gave his usual "all" to the part. But I still like his Doctor Who best.
No his greatest part was the Doctor. I loved WG but for me there's no comparison. Jon Pertwee's Doctor was my hero (as was his successor, being lucky enough to be a child when they crossed over). I loved his vain, moral, charming, dashing, frequently indignant dandy. Our planet was under his protection and we knew it.
Whenever I hear the words "Doctor Who" this will always be the face my mind sees,he was the best, and Tom Baker was very good too,I stopped watching after Tom quit.....I hope I still have a lovely thick head of hair like Jon has here when I`m 77 too;so far so good at 59!!.
Same. Pertwee is the Doctor you would be happy to see if he opened the doors of the tardis. Pertwee had a credibility and severity that made you believe in the character. He also had a rebellious nature and questioned authority figures such as government bureaucrats. Gave the impression of somebody with knowledge and experience. More physical in his performance.
Loved this guy remember when he done whodunnit on itv He was so charming just so natural. Really think he was a little typecast as he was to me the doctor. Such a shame with all the tv shows he didn’t get the chance to prove he was more than doctor who. Worzel etc. amazing man sadly missed
They respected each other as actors but weren't great friends. Tom used to wind Jon up with how much he was (supposedly) earning from advertising voiceovers.
The best Time Lord ever, second was Tom Baker, I will never forget Jon Pertwee. Thanks for the escape from this world time after time. Daleks best Idea ever, the Peter Cushion Dalek films wonderful
I wonder what him and Bill Pertwee would have made of the jimmy savile scandal cause I swear Jon was on jim'll fix it at one point and I think it was him or Colin Baker who called savile an unpleasant man
So would I, but it did happen in comic book form. The Eleventh Doctor teamed up with the Enterprise D crew against an alliance of the Borg and the Cybermen.
Same, he always seemed more believable as somebody who went around the galaxy solving problems. I thought Pertwee was the guy you would be relieved to see had joined the team. I like the severity and authority. I think the interactions with the Brigadier and government bureaucrats are very memorable.

@@sibionic Even.
@@flyeralan it's the worst sound recording of any interview I think I've heard.

Sounds like a dalek
He looks so healthy here like he could go on for another 20 years. So sad he died not long after.
Jon could of easily went till the late 2000s if he was still alive , he’s such a legend
He could've reasonably been alive for an appearance in the 50th anniversary
Compared to Tom Baker who has turned to skin and bones yes
Yes but he is 90 in January.@@petratyraanderson
@@geoffjoffy oh I know still though it's crazy
For a comedic character actor he took everyone by surprise by playing probably the most serious incarnation of the Doctor.
Bro he plays a funny version of the doctor absolutely

What gentleman from what people have said
Sad that he was gone shortly after.

1919-1996 forever Sir Jon Pertwee
Not aged since 1970 R.I.P Doctor.
Only his hair had turned completely white by 1973
Jon was my Dr Who. I was a Trekkie and a Whovie and proud of it.
He looks a bit fatigued here but in other interviews from 1996 he looks fine...probably should have taken a break from touring. Seemed like a lovely man
....Jon and tom, my favorite doctors! Used to watch with my dad. ...good times then.
.
Jon was such an interesting man. He could read the a bill and it would be interesting. Ha ha. Thanks.
He looks really well here. It's a shame when all people talk about to him is Doctor Who all the time when his greatest creation was Worzel Gummidge
He also did a bit part in an episode of The Goodies, and gave his usual star performance. Also a hilarious performance.
I didn't much care for the Worzel Gummidge series but I did watch bits of it and Jon gave his usual "all" to the part.

Ian King I loved worzel gummidge 🤔💕
Try listening to radio 4 extra, The Navy Lark.
Ha! That's your opinion.

It was just him being himself and that's what matters
This was recorded on tin cans and comes to you from within an apartment building radiator
Just found this. Brilliant!
Seemed to have been loved guy
So cool.
Not seen this before. Very nice interview, though he did look tired.
Love him.
Pity nobody ever asked him what he thought when he was told Tom Baker was the next Doctor, or how he got on with him.
They respected each other as actors but weren't great friends. Tom used to wind Jon up with how much he was (supposedly) earning from advertising voiceovers.
He was a great Dr Who.
He is.. the Doctor!
Jon Pertwee. Good gut. Good Doctor.
Sad that the audio is so bad
It’s better than nothing, at least you can understand it.
Good ol chap

Poor Jon really looks unwell here :( R.I.P Jon
How so
Jon looks great here at 76.
i want more :D
i grew up John was my doctor and i got to work on it see user pic x
I believe this interview is from a few days after April 18th 1993 when Jon was at a Doctor Who, Star Trek and Babylon 5 convention called I-Con XII.
Confused why she said 30th anniversary in 1996?
I wonder what him and Bill Pertwee would have made of the jimmy savile scandal cause I swear Jon was on jim'll fix it at one point and I think it was him or Colin Baker who called savile an unpleasant man
the sound...!!
I like Jon Pertwee
Bloody good postie.,What does it matter so long as u tears en up
Jon was my Doctor.
that was an abrupt ending. is there a part 2?
What’s with the audio being so distorted?
For me he was a scarecrow and Tom was the Dr.
Him and Tom had some bad blood between them
Yes. I was too young to remember him as the doctor. Tom Baker was my doctor. But I remember Worzel Gummidge well.
Shame there isn’t a way to clean the audio
Looks well to me on good form.
Third Doctor is Best Doctor. 🙂
That audio tho 😮
At the end of the day, Pertwee and Baker were the best of all the Doctors, full stop.
"Jon"
I would love to see a real Dr Who Star Trek crossover.
🤮 star trek
So would I, but it did happen in comic book form. The Eleventh Doctor teamed up with the Enterprise D crew against an alliance of the Borg and the Cybermen.
This is not how I pictured Tim Treloar looking!
I want to cut this interview with every answer being replaced by his famous line from the Zanussi advert. 🤣🤣🤣
0:12 ...if only.
0:10 ironic
Hey Jan Pewtrid whadaguy
Why's His Voice Like That?
His ancestry was French. Hence the big nose. He was a huguenote.
