  • NEW Kobalt XTR 24-Volt Max Brushless Cordless Impact Driver (Model #KXID 1424A-03) is is put through full tool testing. The #VeryCoolGang drove various length screws and fasteners in common building materials including wood and steel. Using the milwaukee tools FUEL gen3 impact driver (2853-20) as a comparison tool we also drilled holes in wood and concrete using paddle bits and hole saws. It was a very tough #ToolTest which came down to drilling into concrete with masony bits, but THIS TOOL DOES THE IMPOSSIBLE!

    The point is you don’t have to break the bank to achieve similar tasks. The Kobalt, under normal use, would be an effective tool at most, if not all, job sites. I invested in the complete XTR kit and the impact wrench recently and am completely happy. It felt like if I got Milwaukee or similar, it would be to impress others and I don’t care what others think. If I get my job done for less money but at my quality standard, I’m happy. (And customers could care less what brand tools someone uses)

    • @ajfam871
      @ajfam871 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree. I have business and use Ryobi for the fact that I can get more tools & batteries for the Sam amount of money compared to other brands and I’m not racing to get screws in on job sites. And when tools get damaged or stolen it hurts less and cost less to replace them. That said for home use I like to have a different brand to not mix up my personal tools with work tools and I will take care of my tools better than employees.

      Went in for flex 2 tool combo as i was not spending almost $700 for the 5 tool combo. Then i found the kobalt XTR 5 tool combo in a really sweet rolling case for $350. That was a no brainer, i love spontaneous purchases and later find out just how good a value it really was. Even if it doesnt really beat big red the performance is equal to it. And just the 1/4 impact kit is $299. For $50 even $100 (at full price) you get 4 other tools that of the same quality and performance. The roller box alone is worth $100. It is a pelican style and similar quality.

      If you use it like an impact driver instead of a drill, the collet works fine. Hell, if you use paddle bits the way they're supposed to be used, the collet works fine. I don't know anyone who plunges a paddle bit through in one go, doesn't clear the chips, and then tries to pull it out as fast as possible. That's not a real world scenario.

But if its replaced, it will be a used or refurbished one, probably worse shape than the one you have. Way cheaper and faster for me to order parts like a switch and do it myself.

    So is no one going to mention the fact that the kobalt was using the ultimate output battery with the 21700 cells and the Milwaukee was running xc battery with 18650 cells? A fair test would be with the HO battery on the Milwaukee.

    I have also had Ryobi stuff since I'm a painter and don't use my power tools everyday , but I have the older set and was thinking about upgrading I have the kobalt big bag of assorted hand tools and it is very high quality I like it alot Wich lead me to research more kobalt . Now I'm thinking about getting kobalt power tools . For the price point versatility and availability who thinks it is better the Ryobi

    I'm starting to think that all companies will eventually have to redesign their collet at the rate of speed these impacts are driving. Because even the new kobalt impact fails. If you think about it, the surge is impacting a bit slower therefore not creating as much vibration on the collet and it doesn't seem to fail.. just my 2 cents, whether it's worth it or not.

    Maybe Milwaukee should make a bigger impact driver to compete with the bulky xtr? Imagine what they could do with all that extra space

    • @GuyFromJupiter
      @GuyFromJupiter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol they would be breaking every bit you threw in it. That's probably why they just went small instead of increasing performance above what it already is.

    • @browsebywire4096

      I've thought this same thing. If they made an impact that was the same width, but like an inch longer, with beefier motor/and or impact head, holy cow, that thing would be swinging 3000 inch/lbs. That'd be solidly in the wrench territory.

    Love milwaukee but the gen 3 drills seem to have problems combi drills have power cuts when pulling the trigger and the impacts have collet issues ffs .had 2 gen 3 drills sent one back for power cutting out and was fixed and recently purchased another gen 3 and has the same issue so in the middle of sending that back to be fixed

    Impact drill bits of all types were only made to sell something new. And using them is a terrible idea. Clearly! These collets aren't designed for pulling pressure ,only pushing. Use your drill for drilling and the impact driver for driving. BOOM. Pros!?
