This is one of those blends I don’t understand how so many people hate. I agree with you guys on the taste description. I’m beginning to think people that say this blend ain’t sweet enough is because they are going from burleys with sweet toppings to this and can’t taste the natural delicious sweet in haunted bookshop. Definitely one of my all day smokes especially in cooler weather
This channel should have more subscribers/viewers. I know tobacco pipes are pretty niche and not as popular on TH-cam, but of all of the pipe youtube channels, this is one of my favorite. The review notes are always great and pretty spot on from my own experiences as well.
I recommend Haunted Bookshop as a great pipe tobacco for new pipe smokers because the flavors are excellent and fairly easy to identify, and the smoking mechanics of this blend are just beyond compare, it could not be easier to smoke. It packs easily, it does come dry but because of that, you can pack it right out of the tin and it will take a light easily and stay lit well, and it smokes dry (like literally this is the only tobacco I can consistently smoke down to ash at the bottom of the bowl with minimal goop/condensation). On top of all that, it just REFUSES to bite your tongue, and believe me, I have tried to provoke it. Now for those same reasons, it's not a great teacher in the way that a straight virginia is. You won't learn the nuances of dry time, packing, and cadence from Haunted Bookshop. But for shear ease of smoking and for encouraging and developing a love for the flavor of good pipe tobacco, I don't think I've found a better blend.

Terrific video and review!! I had always wanted to try Haunted Bookshop because of Matches860. I’ve stayed away from it because I wasn’t particularly a burley smoker. I decided one day to try some Mac Baren HH burley flake that I had in my cellar and really enjoyed it! Then I cracked a jar of Mac Baren’s Navy flake and really enjoy that one too! I figured my palate had changed. I had only tried the Navy flake once when I first got it and didn’t like it at all! I Jared it and forgot about it. I came back to it years later and now I love it! This gave me the confidence to finally try Haunted Bookshop. I have always wanted to smoke some in my Savinelli 673 on a Friday while watching a Matches860 video. Well, that finally happened today! At first try of Haunted Bookshop (last week) I didn’t like it! It seemed to spicy, strong and harsh. I started mixing it with some Orlik golden sliced and sometimes Latakia blends. I found it to be very tasty! Today I tried it all on its own and wow!! It knocked my socks off!! It’s definitely one of my favorites now and it’s going to be in my weekly or daily rotation👍👍
I love this blend. I smell plum in the tin. To me its similar to University flake with less plum and more burley. A- for me. Love the videos gentlemen.

Brand-new pipe smoker here. This is my first winter smoking a pipe. I didn’t even start till January So I am not even a whole month in. Haunted Bookshop was one of the first blends I picked up and I absolutely love it. I 100 percent think that Haunted Bookshop is the coolest name for a tobacco blend. It’s always going to have a great mystique for me.
Great to hear so many compliments to mine too favorite C&D HBS. I am basically a Non Aros smoker and among them I place this as undoubtedly No. 1. I wonder why it took so much time for you to taste and pass your judgement which again I feel could have been five out of five. Thanks and happy to know what I prefer also happens to be the favorite of seasoned Pipe Smokers like you.

Got 4 oz. Of bulk and really enjoy it. Almost has a hint of cigar flavor to it… maybe that’s the burley? Also, this is a nice change of pace if you want to try something different. ..like your vids 🤙

I always grab haunted bookshop when i want a quick and nutty smoke. The small amount of perique is just right, so that if you smoke it quick it doesn't bite bad at all. The nicotine punch is also nice for if your in a rush. People who don't like cigarettes will not like this blend, a bit in its own way its very much different than a cigarette. All in all haunted bookshop is what I "thought" pipe tobacco would be like almost, it tastes very traditional I guess, even though I can't say I've had a burley quite like haunted bookshop.
Finally got around to trying Haunted Bookshop yesterday as I joined many who were remembering the passing of Matches860 a year ago. I was a little wary of its strength and the funky and musty tin note didn't bolster my confidence, but I found it to be more enjoyable than expected. The vitamin N stood up and shook my hand, but didn't knock me down so I'm looking forward to trying more Burley centric blends.
I am smoking Haunted Bookshop as I type. It's very nice. Not sure if I like it as much as my Stokkebye Oriental Supreme. I kind of like the Oriental tobacco more than Periques. But very interesting and good.
I just tried this recently and loved it enough to fill up a jar. It tastes like a great dark, spicy burley with a VA/per going on in the background. The pluses of VA/per flavor without thinness of body and tendency to bite, plus that extra "something" of the wonderfully flavorful burley. It is a more strong on the nicotine but nothing incredible. Just enough to feel it.
On that Burley morning pipe blend would you recommend that if I’m an aro smoker looking for a daily smoke 💨? I’m into mocha, coffee, chocolate, sweet, vanilla and nicotine etc etc lol I’m sure you know what I’ll like better than I will actually lol. Also lol wonder about how you guys feel on “Bijou”?
Burley Morning is a delicious all day every day smoke, but some would say that it leans more to the aromatic side, also, but it is very tasty to me! Never tried Bijou....I’ll have to add that to my list.
New to piping. Every time I try a new tobacco I check to see if you men have a review on it, and I’ll smoke along with you. It helps me try to recognize flavors and get a better understanding of what I’m smoking. When I get into something new I acquire so many components of the hobby right off the bat it would look like I’ve been into the hobby for years. It’s a bit of problem. 😂. That being said, of all the tobacco I’ve smoked, this is THE BEST. This is what I hoped the pipe experience would be. Thanks for your help! Any suggestions for my next purchase?

I am still new to pipe smoking and tried it today for my first burley. It's really good, and I do not like mushrooms..my brain gives me a picture of bread along with a light earthy, musty taste.

I recently picked up this blend and I’m loving it. Great in the AM with a black, dark roast coffee. If you also want a delicious burley tobacco - get some Solani Aged Burley Flake. It’s hard to find stateside - I get mine from a German shop, but oh man it’s sooooo good.

This is my favorite burley by far. I don’t get why it’s labeled a winter smoke, maybe just the name. This ages well so I suggest jarring some. Great review gentleman. Another burley I smoke is Big n Burley by C&D. It will put some lead in your pencil.

I’ve really been enjoying Manil Tobac Le Petit Robin. It’s a Semois Burley and very different from other Butleys.
I've been looking for a blend to really being me out of aromatics. I'm gonna give this a try.

Just a pedestal that we use to set our shot glasses on. Our mic is closer to us right in front of the ash tray...Shure MV88. We like it.
