I miss J-Town! SF has the second largest tho. Wish explored outside of the mall!

oh wow the owner of "on the bridge" has lost so much weight i didn't recognize him at first. you have to try the different loco moco and definitely the curry rices. it's a shame izumiya apparently closed. it's the only place to get good okonomiyaki.

It costs three times more for Japanese food in Sam Francisco than in Japan itself!

This is so sad. Japantown is a sad empty shell of its former self. Heartbreaking. Covid killed San Francisco or rather the idiots who run the city Govt killed everything that was great about SF. Tourism is dead-I don’t blame them- restaurants are dead so many have already shuttered their doors. Japanese people are dying out in SF and not being replaced. It’s gone

Don’t be so negative. Japantown still attracts lots of people..packed on weekends. Plenty of restaurants, bakeries, a few shops, fantastic Japanese bookstore and a few Japanese grocery stores. Yes, there are some leasing issues that may impact some of the places, but new places opening as well…we have to hope for the best. Right now the peace plaza itself is being redone, so lots of construction. Can’t wait until it’s done. If you visit, you’ll be able to cover it in 2-3 hours (it’s not that big) including lunch.

Little Tokyo has more Japanese people but Japantown (at least by the official designations of them) is a larger area

The Japanese neighborhood in Los Angeles should be called Japantown instead of Little Tokyo
