Unfortunately he passed last year and we would always joke about him dying before he’s saw the Ms play in October. Well Dad the Ms finally made it. And I’ll be watching them for you. There was no curse on this team. Mariners sucked for 21 years because of bad trades, mediocre talent, top prospects that turned out to be busts, bottom tier pitching and bad GM's.

Maybe my best friend and your grandfather are somewhere enjoying the Mariners together. I had a very very good friend who passed away 4 years ago. He and I grew up with and loved the Mariners. We went to games together each year, and since he passed I haven't been to a game. I don't know what that says about me but I haven't had much desire to go in person without him there.
My grandpa was a tour guide for 20 years at the mariners. He past away suddenly from cancer last year. He would be so proud except he hated the new ballpark sponsor. All the pink made him angry lol

Unbelievable 😭 I still remember my first Mariners game in 2001 when I was six years old. Left field bleachers, Freddy Garcia on the mound and Ichiro led off with a home run to right field. I was hooked. Been dying for playoff baseball since. Moved across the country last year so had to stay up late watching the game in my Mariners pajamas, wifey woke up after Cal’s home run and looked at me and said it looked like I was in a trance 😂 can’t explain the feelings right now!! Just watched this happen live! Ball flew right toward us on the 3rd deck then dropped to the 2nd! That was AWESOME! Storybook worthy!! That's gonna be playing on replay in my head for days! Go Mariners!!!
I was at the game, in right field, underneath the home run to win it. The game was as tense as could be. When that ball crossed the fence, we were in utter disbelief and chaos ensued. The afterparty lasted almost 2 hours in the stands and I will never forget this. I caught the home run on video and many more shots and videos afterwards. Scott’s speech to us fans was incredibly moving, this win could not have meant more to ANY team or fan base in sports history

31 years, I've been a fan of this team. The Ms are 27-2 with my family in the stands. I've lived through the pain. I love this team. Let's pick it up for 2024! I'll be at 3 games this year. (None of my family live within 1000 miles of Seattle.) I watched this live on the east coast, and got zero sleep that night.

I was a sophomore in HS last time this team made the playoffs. Living with my uncle Mark at the time, a big Mariners fan, who has since passed. Now my kids just started playing this past spring and fell in love with the sport and the M’s. Rick Rizzs was our soundtrack driving around this summer. How can you not love baseball.

As a Brewers fan, I remember CC Sabathia and Ryan Braun securing the wild card against the Cubs in 2007 to get them into the playoffs for the first time since 1982. In a strange way, I think fans of winning franchises never truly appreciate their teams' accomplishments. Of course winning the World Series is what you dream of, but World Series or not, these fans will always remember the exhilaration and joy of watching meaningful baseball. That memory alone will mean more to these fans. Congrats to the Mariners and their fans, I know the feeling.

For you haters out there, so what if the Mariners eventually lose their divisional round series or ALCS or whatever? Or if they can't reach World Series ever since? So be it. Let those smaller teams have their moments. From a Filipino guy who has never been to America, who learned to love this team, just from a no-choice situation watching sports via cable-tv on a Japanese network focusing on Ichiro, the finishing of a playoff drought is a God-send for me. I learned to love Seattle eventually, how it was disheartening to lose the Supersonics just before KD broke out, how it was enjoyable watching Browner, Thomas, Chancellor and Sherman hurt people legally (L.O.B!) on their way to a Seahawks Superbowl victory. Those things can't compare to a Mariners playoff berth. And this is on a different formula - I remember them being so dominant in both close games (Sasaki closing day after day) and lopsided games (Bret Boone batflip) only to be deflated by the Yankees. At least this team is a pitching-centric underdog of a team that has low expectations to win it all. They're on the other end of the spectrum. Just play your hearts out, guys. Let the naysayers SEA US RISE!

I remember the final game of the ‘95 season when the Seattle Mariners lost and they had that One Game Playoff with the Angels!!!! I was at Tickets Master in Everett as soon as that game was done and I bought a half dozen tickets just beyond the third base on the lower level of the Kingdome and I’ll never forget the game when Edgar Martinez got the hit that drove in Ken Griffey Jr all the way from First Base!!!! Great Game Great Memory
I was at the one game playoff in '95 also. I was on first base side, right above the bullpen area. That was awesome and this was kinda similar a real pitchers battle. What a clutch homer at the end!!! Amazing
I was thinking about the end of the '95 game; a lot of people were running onto the field & after watching about 10 mins. I eventually jumped down from my seat onto the field and upon making it too second base I grabbed a handful of dirt from each side of the base and shoved it in the pockets of my jeans. I brought the dirt & sunflower shells home too Eastern Washington. I had that dirt in 2 sandwich bags until a house fire sometime around 2006, one of my most prize possessions!!!

I was a kid during the Johnson/Griffey Jr./Martinez era and they defined a big part my childhood. It's super meaningful to see them bounce back yet again to build something worthy of their pride and celebration. I hope this continues all through the Series but even if it was just this night, it's still amazing.

I've been reliving 1995 since 1995, lol I graduated high school that year and vividly remember how magical that season was and what every game of that Yankee series was like. Yeah, we had 2001 as well but '95 was different. I'll tell you what, this year feels different. I mean bottom of the 9th in a tie game at home with 2 outs and a full count and Cal hits a walk-off HR to clinch a playoff spot!!?? Just amazing.
I smile. Really happy for these guys. I weep. It's a long time to back to playoff since Ichiro's debut. I sigh. I wish Otani should have the chance to the playoff, too.
I was at the last playoff series against the yankees. I was 13 years old.... Being a mariners fan has always been a part of my life, through the pain the drought the years and years, and here we are. We did it. I'll admit I didn't believe it and I'm still pinching myself. What a win. What a season. This team is special. I'm so happy for all of us who never gave up.
I was born a few years after 2001. I hadn't seen the Mariners play in or make the playoffs at all, in my lifetime. My parents did, back in '01. 9/30/22 was the most packed I'd ever seen at T-Mobile Park / Safeco Field. Brought my friend who'd never seen a game of American Baseball in person. And to top it all off, we won and made it to the playoffs. My parents cried... maybe just a little bit. But oh good lord, the roar of the crowd. I watched that ball sail across the field and boom, into the stands. I don't think I'd ever seen a city erupt in pure joy as I did on that day. Cal Raleigh jerseys were SOLD OUT. As I rewatched from the TV's point of view, I saw many of the viewers behind home plate were recording, watching with their hands folded and clasped as if they were... praying. And as Raleigh hit that ball and it sailed off, the fans watched... and waited... seeing that it would drive deep into right field. It took probably 0.7 seconds for every fan in T-Mobile park to realize where that ball was going, and where the Mariners would go on that evening under the stadium lights. I read from a source Ichiro prayed to a shrine at some point during or before the game that we would break our horrible curse. His prayers were answered as were every Seattle Mariners baseball fan's prayers. "A lot of anxious folks out here at the ballpark, 3-2 to Cal, the pitch from Acevedo..." *The rest would be history.*
At the beginning of this baseball season I chose a team from every division in baseball to root for. I picked the Mariners because I knew this team had it in them to defeat the superstition and take destiny into their own hands. My faith, OUR faith, was not misplaced. There is a dynasty in the making.
Im a Buffalo Bills fan and I know exactly how exciting it is to see a long playoff drought come to an end. I remember exactly where I was when Andy Dalton threw the Bills into the post season, it was unbelievable! What better way to break the drought than with a walk off? I love it! Definitely been this long since my mom first worked her first job in 2001 when the mariners last time went to the playoffs. I'm happy they ended the drought. My mom still works at her job to this day.

As an Orioles fan, I'm disappointed our team missed the playoffs in spite of an amazing season, but proud of how our young guys played well. Look for an impressive next year. However, congrats Seattle on ending your drought after so long. Best of luck in the playoffs.

I was at the game, in right field, underneath the home run to win it. The game was as tense as could be. When that ball crossed the fence, we were in utter disbelief and chaos ensued. The afterparty lasted almost 2 hours in the stands and I will never forget this. I caught the home run on video and many more shots and videos afterwards. Scott’s speech to us fans was incredibly moving, this win could not have meant more to ANY team or fan base in sports history

I was a sophomore in HS last time this team made the playoffs. Living with my uncle Mark at the time, a big Mariners fan, who has since passed. Now my kids just started playing this past spring and fell in love with the sport and the M’s. Rick Rizzs was our soundtrack driving around this summer.

As a Brewers fan, I remember CC Sabathia and Ryan Braun securing the wild card against the Cubs in 2007 to get them into the playoffs for the first time since 1982. In a strange way, I think fans of winning franchises never truly appreciate their teams' accomplishments. Of course winning the World Series is what you dream of, but World Series or not, these fans will always remember the exhilaration and joy of watching meaningful baseball. That memory alone will mean more to these fans. Congrats to the Mariners and their fans, I know the feeling.

For you haters out there, so what if the Mariners eventually lose their divisional round series or ALCS or whatever? Or if they can't reach World Series ever since? So be it. Let those smaller teams have their moments.
From a Filipino guy who has never been to America, who learned to love this team, just from a no-choice situation watching sports via cable-tv on a Japanese network focusing on Ichiro, the finishing of a playoff drought is a God-send for me.
I learned to love Seattle eventually, how it was disheartening to lose the Supersonics just before KD broke out, how it was enjoyable watching Browner, Thomas, Chancellor and Sherman hurt people legally (L.O.B!) on their way to a Seahawks Superbowl victory. Those things can't compare to a Mariners playoff berth.
And this is on a different formula - I remember them being so dominant in both close games (Sasaki closing day after day) and lopsided games (Bret Boone batflip) only to be deflated by the Yankees. At least this team is a pitching-centric underdog of a team that has low expectations to win it all. They're on the other end of the spectrum.
Just play your hearts out, guys. Let the naysayers SEA US RISE!

I remember the final game of the ‘95 season when the Seattle Mariners lost and they had that One Game Playoff with the Angels!!!! I was at Tickets Master in Everett as soon as that game was done and I bought a half dozen tickets just beyond the third base on the lower level of the Kingdome and I’ll never forget the game when Edgar Martinez got the hit that drove in Ken Griffey Jr all the way from First Base!!!!

I was at the one game playoff in '95 also. I was on first base side, right above the bullpen area. That was awesome and this was kinda similar a real pitchers battle. What a clutch homer at the end!!! Amazing
I was thinking about the end of the '95 game; a lot of people were running onto the field & after watching about 10 mins. I eventually jumped down from my seat onto the field and upon making it too second base I grabbed
a handful of dirt from each side of the base and shoved it in the pockets of my jeans. I brought the dirt & sunflower shells home too Eastern Washington. I had that dirt in 2 sandwich bags until a house fire sometime around 2006, one of my most prize possessions!!!

I'll admit i've been more football (college and NFL) and had given up on the mariners, but last nights game is the first time I watched the entire game all season and I know we had the 116 wins in 2001, but this just brought me back to the vibes of 95! (hopefully better since we lost after that lol)

I went to high school with Cal Raleigh. I played basketball with this man. This is truly unbelievable. I’m so proud.
I was a kid during the Johnson/Griffey Jr./Martinez era and they defined a big part my childhood. It's super meaningful to see them bounce back yet again to build something worthy of their pride and celebration. I hope this continues all through the Series but even if it was just this night, it's still amazing.

I've been reliving 1995 since 1995, lol I graduated high school that year and vividly remember how magical that season was and what every game of that Yankee series was like. Yeah, we had 2001 as well but '95 was different. I'll tell you what, this year feels different. I mean bottom of the 9th in a tie game at home with 2 outs and a full count and Cal hits a walk-off HR to clinch a playoff spot!!?? Just amazing.

We did it. I'll admit I didn't believe it and I'm still pinching myself. What a win. What a season. This team is special. I'm so happy for all of us who never gave up.

I was born a few years after 2001. I hadn't seen the Mariners play in or make the playoffs at all, in my lifetime. My parents did, back in '01. 9/30/22 was the most packed I'd ever seen at T-Mobile Park / Safeco Field. Brought my friend who'd never seen a game of American Baseball in person. And to top it all off, we won and made it to the playoffs. My parents cried... maybe just a little bit. But oh good lord, the roar of the crowd. I watched that ball sail across the field and boom, into the stands. I don't think I'd ever seen a city erupt in pure joy as I did on that day. Cal Raleigh jerseys were SOLD OUT. As I rewatched from the TV's point of view, I saw many of the viewers behind home plate were recording, watching with their hands folded and clasped as if they were... praying. And as Raleigh hit that ball and it sailed off, the fans watched... and waited... seeing that it would drive deep into right field. It took probably 0.7 seconds for every fan in T-Mobile park to realize where that ball was going, and where the Mariners would go on that evening under the stadium lights.
I read from a source Ichiro prayed to a shrine at some point during or before the game that we would break our horrible curse. His prayers were answered as were every Seattle Mariners baseball fan's prayers.

Definitely been this long since my mom first worked her first job in 2001 when the mariners last time went to the playoffs. I'm happy they ended the drought. My mom still works at her job to this day.
