Hi I loved your documentary The Girl, the Ghost and the Gravestone. I personally believe in the paranormal but tried to remain sceptical watching your documentary. After watching it I’m convinced there telling the truth. The mum and dad could easily make it a hoax but trying to convince the children to join in would probably work at the beginning but not there entire life. Also the previous tenant who said strange things happened when he lived there makes me a believer. I really enjoyed your documentary, keep up the great work and look forward to your future work
I suspect the previous occupant of Penyffordd Farm, who Sian met in the pub, was behind it all. When they dug up the gravestone in the garden he lifted it with ease so wouldn't have had any trouble moving the wooden owl. He might have still had a key to the place so could sneak in an out. In the 1980s and 1990s the protest group Meibion Glyndwr was active in North Wales. They were unhappy with houses in the area being bought as second homes/holiday homes by non Welsh people which pushed property prices up so much that locals were unable to afford them. I'm not saying he was a member of MG, however there was a lot of bad feeling towards non Welsh people moving into the area at the time so I'm wondering if he was trying to scare them off?
I do supect he was the one who moved the owl, but only as a practical joke becuase of all the attention the house was getting. They are most likely a family of attention seekers. I really enjoyed watching this series, but I think most of us knew by the end it was a just a good hoax that all luckily fell into place for each of the perpetrators.
I doubt it, he lived there as a boy, I can't see how he would have has a set of keys like 50 years later that still fit the locks. Or that he could be in and out so fast.
That’s assuming the owl was actually moved when they said. Memory is funny like that and you can easily misremember things. For example someone took an old empty flowerpot from the balcony of the house I lived on and threw it through the windscreen of a police car parked nearby. The police came to my door and asked if I’d seen or heard anything or if I had a plant pot on my balcony. I honestly didn’t hear anything and was sure we’d moved the large flowerpot long before. It’s something I’d see every day but for some reason I didn’t notice that it hadn’t been moved to the rear of the house along with another. I would have sworn blind that I was being truthful. I also noticed the daughters sometimes said they felt something rather than they were sure they saw the thing. The mixture of Virgin Mary, young pregnant girl and then a monk just seems strange. Would the young girl even have been literate enough to write her name or any other words? It seems doubtful given the time period and the fact she was a rural female.

Apparently “the mum doesn’t speak a word of welsh” but later on in the series in a home made vid you can hear her say to the investigator “that’s welsh for child, that’s welsh for disabled”….
The writing was either slighly calligraphed or not clear and this is never going to be recognisable as the same person's typical handwriting. This was obviously something they had thought of.

Lol half the ghost stories i come across feature a monk or nun, the Stoksbridge Bypass, Borely Rectory, The Gallway Poltergeist, Newby Church, is it because their robes look a bit scary?
That and shadows or shapes that aren’t clear are more easily described as wearing robes or a cowl? I know when I’ve had a bad fever I’ve thought I have seen a figure or shadow that I’d describe as perhaps being in a loose robe and hood because it was just roughly human shaped.

I am watching this what I don't understand is why didn't they call the police when they found the skeleton? Surely you want it checked out even if they think it's old doesn't make sense. Can give a proper burial if it's the young child.

Getting a strong sense that either the sister on the boat was a mad fantasist from the vybz her other sister gave at the end or the adopted brother was acting in appropriately and the mum dismissed it and made up a mad ghost story to cover it all up. Maybe I'm thinking too deep but deffo something seemed up with the two sisters at the end
I think this is nonsense, when her daughter and her husband move in (why would you if you think it's haunted) and he's showing pictures of the moving wooden owl you can see the gravestone leaning against the wall? Wasn't that supposed to be lost in the garden ever since the daughters wedding? The mother and daughter are responsible I think, just my opinion of course.
From what I heard the stone was just moved from where it originally was (on the garden path) in the late 90s for a wedding party, it was placed somewhere more discrete, then in 2010 or 2011 when they were selling the house the mother said she then had the stone buried altogether to avoid upsetting potential buyers, so that's consistent with the evidence. I'm not saying it's all true only that the headstone didn't become lost until 2012 according to the account so it seems consistent. She mentioned in a 2014 online posting that the Stone was moved inside after it kept falling over outside.

@bobvater9323 One other important thing to consider is throughout the documentary nobody in the family claims to have been terrified by the ghost of the girl from the gravestone, if so then bringing it inside wouldn't be a contradiction? Both the daughters featured who slept there both said they woke up terrified by having the monk standing in their bedroom at night, the way it was described did sound very very scary....The son also said "the monk's not happy" when the chair flew over when the academic was visiting. The only time the girl Jane actually makes an appearance in an account in the documentary was when she was meant to have been seen playing with the family cat at about 9:00 in the morning on the patio which doesn't sound scary or threatening at all but rather quite sweet. The mother said she even wanted to go out and greet the girl but found she'd gone by the time she'd made it out. Again I'm not saying any of it's true but I don’t think that detail is necessarily so significant. In the 2009 BBC article I read it sounds like the family kind of got used to the alleged haunting too in the end. The title of the article is 'Ghost became one of the family.' It only mentions the alleged monk. In a post she also said that the stone used to lean against the house but that it fell over 3 times in one day and they brought it inside because they didn't want it to get damaged.

When she asked him how, his reaction was a bit sketchy too “just dug over there a bit, then dug over here, and yeah”… ok mate… just a weird place, attracts weird people I suppose 🤷🏻♂️
Scouse is a mixture of Irish ,Welsh and Lancashire,I thought it was a great show, I've watched it about 3x.i think she genuine and Swedish looking, I like her better than Stacey Dooley, she doesn't listen to the people, she talks over them,I believe the girl ghost is there
Agreed, but how can you even dare to make that comparison? Stacey Dooley is the most unintelligent person to ever be on television. Even if we compare her to American TV presenters. Sian is the complete other end of the spectrum.
I am a firm believer that things no matter how trivial they may seem happen for a reason. I do believe Rosemary was telling the truth, I know it's easy for people who weren't there to poo-hoo stories such as this. I believe that there is more to life than just what you see.
I enjoyed this series and I love a good ghost story, however I do believe this was all made up by the family. The headstone looked fake and the lettering on it did not look over 200 years old.
@@45ounceit's hard to say, in that original video from the early 2000s it looked real to me. Tomb stones have been dug up from ancient Rome 2000 years ago that are still in excellent condition, you can see some at Cirencester museum for example.
