I think the shapeshifter is exactly what I've been lacking in my DBD. Been looking to upgrade and if the ShapeShifter provides more off center stability and a little more power and pop with the same feel, I'm all in. Fingers Crossed for the giveaway.
As a music guy, really appreciate that chorus provides the frequency of their paddles. But also, it looks stellar, like that paddle just looks like it was designed to win.
I’ve been wanting to try a paddle with the 18k surface. Not many on the market with that surface. Favorite paddles currently are the Neonic Flow and Spartus Apollo.
I hear nothing but good things about this paddle. I thought it was interesting that you compared it to the double black diamond, which is one of my. Favorite paddles of all time. The J2K is my go to paddle also, but I have to put it away in hot weather (100 degrees) when everyone is using Franklin balls. I just got my Fat Boy, so I’ll be testing that one out this week. Thank you for doing another very helpful review!
Wow. I've been loving the J2K and can't put it down. Excited about this giveaway opportunity. My favorite thing about the J2K is how I take overheads with it, so it's intriguing to hear that the Shapeshifter is better for overheads! Thanks for another awesome review!
This paddle is great, I tried it once IRL but have not been able to get one yet - last batch sold out in about 11 seconds. Think max control, great spin and power with a perfect pop - would love to get my hands on one - thanks for the awesome reviews - keep up the good work!
You nailed it on the review. I switched from the DBD to the Shapeshifter and agree it’s an upgraded DBD in all aspects. The stability and control is much better and the jarring feedback from off-center shots that the DBD has is eliminated with this paddle. And the put away power that the fiberglass layer provides makes overheads and hard vollies a real weapon. I plan to pick up a second shapeshifter for my wife on this next launch.
Someone already mentioned this, but as a music lover, I do think it’s cool that they provide the note/frequency of the paddle. Interested in trying the Shapeshifter.
@@BenjaminAndersonPickleball I definitely recommend it. 100% made in the US, premium materials, intentional/thoughtful specs/design aspects. Price is 250 flat bc no sales tax. What’s not to love?
@@capcharlston I might have to get me one in the next few months. I've never used an edgeless paddle before, but it looks like one of the best on the market.
@@BenjaminAndersonPickleball good call, king. Last bit of glazing from me: The edge material is sturdier than anything else I’ve seen by a significant margin. The perimeter goes all the way down to the handle so it’s the most solid/“whole” feeling paddle I’ve experienced coming from some well made, “premium” paddles like Selkirk Project 006, Proton Series 1.
Tried a few different paddles in my short pickleball career 😂……so far the Thrive Azul is my favorite. Gives me the power I like without having an elongated shape. Coincidentally, I was considering the Shapeshifter when I got the Azul but it was out of stock at the time. Thanks for another great review 💪🏼
Thanks for the review! Looks like a great all around paddle with more pop and power than my old Ruby. Would love to try it! My current paddle is the Hurricane Pro 16mm.
This is one that has definitely been on the radar! Curious how it compares to the Hurache-X Control + as they seem to have similar layers. Been waiting for the orange as well!
I've used my friend's Paddletek and thought it was extremely fun to play with. It was a bit too difficult to control though. This Shapeshifter sounds like a dream paddle.
Let’s go! Great review. This has been my dream paddle for a while. Thanks for doing the giveaway! Love the all-court premium material vibe this gives off with the added power and control.
Was using a DBD which is still very enjoyable so this paddle is of interest. John Kew did a review on it as well. Currently using and liking J2K and Sweet Spot Max
Great review. I started out witht he double black diamond and have recently been all about the Hurache-X Control+ (CFC). I've been hearing about this one for a while from Jon Kew & Eddie. Hearing more on it now from you and others, really makes me feel like I might really like this paddle for my style of play. Very tempting, especially with the 2 new colorways!!!
DBD has been my main for months but I’m excited to see how this type of carbon fiber plays in the soft game and if the layer of fiberglass can deliver some additional power and pop. If this can provide the control of the DBD with the power of the BD, then this is a home run.
I love hybrid paddles and currently main a J2K. I dont kniw that ill ever switch, but im interested to see what the added power feels like in a hybrid shape. I'm also intrigued by the 18K carbon fiber
Great review, as usual! Currently loving my 11SIX24 MAC16, but have been seeing really good stuff about the Shapeshifter, so very interested in trying it.
I plan to order the ShapeShifter tomorrow! Love the review. I have Ruby and Volair M2F and like your comments that the ShapeShifter has more pop and power on over heads. Just what doctor ordered!!! Plan on going w Orange color.
Feels like some of these smaller paddle companies are crushing it out there. Good looking paddle and great performance? Sign me up. Heard John Kew likes this one too! DBD is my go to!
Got into the sport last year so I’ve only owned the Vatic pro prism flash. Got rated a 4.4 and am looking for a more powerful paddle. These reviews are really helpful since I do like the hybrid shape a lot
Maining the Selkirk amped pro at this time , been interested in the shapeshifter as it’s also fiberglass but softer sounds like more control and bigger sweet spot
@@AllDriveNoDropPickleballthe amped pro feels like an all around paddle leaning towards more power than control. It’s notably more power than the luxx I was using before and slightly less pop than the Ruby which is nice for control. The aerodynamic throat lets me add more weight without feeling too sluggish. My main complaint with it is the sweet spot isn’t great which is why I was considering the shapeshifter next
Jacob, great review! I still haven't played with a hybrid. I'm still playing with the Apollo I used your code for and an Engage Pursuit Pro MX. They are completely different and i enjoy the Engage most but im winning more with the Apollo. I am looking at this shapeshifter and the J2k as maybe a middle ground?. This one wins for appearance and the J2k for price.
I never hit the DBD, but I know it's a very solid paddle from what I've heard, so if this Shapeshifter is better across the board, then how could you go wrong? I'm just gonna call my shot right now: I'm winning this giveaway💯🤝
I'm back to my Volair Mach 1 Forza after the Joola Gen 3 delisting. I think the Shapeshifter could be an ideal next paddle for me. I'd be interested in your thoughts on how the Shapeshifter compares to the Mach 1 Forza. I'm currently playing with the Mach 1 Forza with quite a bit of lead on the sides, some on the throat, and a 1/2 oz lead plate in the butt cap.
I'm actually testing another 18K face paddle right now (Chinese origin) and the grip is no joke! I believe in the weave (added point for a very pleasing aesthetics). Wonder why other companies haven't jumped on this train.
@@AllDriveNoDropPickleball from the interviews I did get the impression the company spared no expense in the development of the paddle, lots of different details went into it.
I find the combination of 18k carbon fiber and fiberglass interesting, would love to try the Shapeshifter out especially since you said it has more overhead power than the J2k!
great review. 'Pickleball Tech Dude' has a great interview with the owner. i was back and forth for a while, between like 6 paddles, about sidegrading my DbD- bc lets be honest- its the paddles fault, lol. i didn't want to get something basically the same (like the J2K) or something that required compromise- like the hurrace with better pop but a stiffer face. im gonna order in august but glad i waited for the orange color and no ribbed grip. The DbD is an amazing paddle but this checks all the boxes- sweetspot a tad bigger, more pop while retaining the connection to the ball and a bit more spin at the net. so many good paddles with the kev/hybrids out there its pretty amazing chorus found this combo of materials/shape before anyone else did.
I’ve heard so many good things about this paddle. Definitely want to give it a try. Need to sell some other paddles first so my wife doesn’t divorce me. 😂 Right now I’m using the Ruby and Pickles Ball Apes PLE when I prefer over the S model since it has a little more reach.
im interested in the power that the shapeshifter has over the j2k since i was reading reviews about how the j2k was going to be a good all court / power paddle, but during my playtest i felt like it was a bit soft.
I've always heard good things about this and always been interested. Thanks for the review. I like the 3D design and extra put-away power you speak of. Do I get to choose the edge guard color if I win? That would be tight.
