It not that DJ Wagner is overrated, he wasn't the point guard in highschool. Go back and do some homework,he played off the ball and Coach Calipari put him on the 1 guard spot which is not his natural spot.He basically was learning the point guard spot. And he didn't pick it up as fast as they thought. Thats why he was thinking before he would shoot. He's still learning that position but he will be aight, I just hate that it went down like this.😢

Dj still avg 10pts a game on a team the stats were share across the board and as he had bad games he had good games and he not a reclass reed is a yr older like alot of other freshmans

Feels like Malik Newman all over again
DJ is talented, but he needs to learn how to create contact when driving to the basket. Considering that is his strength is driving to the basket, he should have already had this in his bag. He has to improve his jump shot and playmaking abilities. He is a score first guard, he rarely looks for the extra pass, and he should come back to college next year because he will improve significantly and could actually raise his draft stock. Him and Edwards both had trouble finishing the basket all year. They played scared it seemed and never let loose and just played basketball. I agree though Cal messed up, Rob Dillingham should have been the primary guard on this team and starting. Had Cal done that this teams would have reached their potential.

Didnt show much first season. Maybe, he will improve in second season. But, the NBA cares more about size and athleticism. Maybe, they will still draft him high. Jump shot is horrible at this point.

Dillingham got the short end of the stick and was a blast to watch.
I caught a couple times where I read dillingham lips while he was on the bench where he said fuck that mother fucker talking about Cal, and he straight set on the bench after Cal said he was sick. Yeah sick of being cheated out of the minutes he earned to baby an inferior player.

The best part is his injury wasn't even real it was used as an excuse, Calipari does this with a lot of his players placing their draft position ahead of team winning. I knew the game was over when Wagner took over.
The thing is these guys are still developing, he may go pro and average 25 a game. LOOK AT DEVIN BOOKER HE didn't even start at ky..Imagine if these kids stayed 3 or 4 years developing their game...

That kid that's killing it for the thunder didn't start at Kentucky either...The point guard he came off the bench I think just shows you alot of players just have to be in the right situation on the right team and be given an opportunity it's not lack of talent...Dj Wagner is an NBA player everyone knows he has the talent

Dj & Justin should of been coming off the bench allowing them to pick up in the flow of the game instead of trying to keep up with Rob & Reed which they couldnt which made them look bad dj had plenty of good & decent games for a freshman and he only a freshman cal has to stop pushing these players out thats not ready Dj first year playing pg in his life he looked uncomfortable but was trying and Edwards need to be more aggressive they will both be fine
Northern Kentucky players look like NBA talent if they all stay where they going to do the with the new recruits
He’ll still be drafted in the first round or early second just because the NBA drafts off of potential, and name recognition to some extent

DJ just needs to get stronger! I still think he’ll be great if he comes back to kentucky. I just don’t see why Cal didn’t at least try Dilly and Reed a few times just to see.. Wagner led assist 6 times. Rob has led 9 times, and Reed has led 13 times. Wagner has led in points 1 game, Rob 7 times, Reed 6 times, and Reeves 14 times.

if the goal is just to get drafted then yeah he should go but he’d probably be similar to bj boston. he and justin edwards are two dudes who could really benefit from another year. the amount of missed layups between the two of them was mind boggling
His grandfather is "Milt Wagner" a legend in his own right at U of L . Mister history teacher guru . DJ is a lock down defender , was injured part of the season and so what if Cal promised him a guaranteed starting spot , which is bullshit . His legendary bloodline is deserving of it. His dad Dajuan was John Wall but only got one contract because he had some health issues that almost killed him and cut his career short . If Cal started DJ just to get him some exposure in hopes of him getting paid , what his dad should have made in the NBA but was robbed of the chance . I say hats off to Cal , thats a loyal motherfucker . I love Dj , he a good person , was raised right , and he did UK a fine job this season . It was an honor for us to be represented by such a great kid . what would you have done , talked your way into the lineup ?

DJ came to Kentucky because promises made to his father and grandfather. There were better players out there for Kentucky.
His grandfather was a worthless assistant for Payne so there was no promises to the grandpa just some cash for son and dad

Monday morning quarterback. DJ was thought to be a top five prospect. Didn't turn out to be that great. Neither did Edwards. Both Dillingham and Sheppard were rated lower but were better players. It happens a lot.

I watched every single game and Wagner was very disappointing. In fact, I wondered why he was playing so much.
