Hahaha. Thanks for sharing this clip! This was me as the trolley driver when I worked at Idlewild between 2010 and 2013. This was definitely a difficult job and I remember trying to be enthusiastic as one said I lacked, but after doing it everyday, every 15 minutes for 8 hours a day, it got a little boring to repeat time and time again. It took some motivation to get back on the trolley for minimum wage. Still a very special video to remind myself of past experiences. Now I am going for my Master's and I have 2 kids of my own. #cameltoe
Let's have some make-believe now. We'll get the trolley... Now, let's pretend that so many new people are coming to the Neighborhood of Make-Believing today, and King Friday has a special message he wants those people to give to all the friends and neighbors. What do you think that special message will be? Well let's just think more about that, as the trolley carries our new friends to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
I just watched an ep of Mister Rogers with the trolley, and after it came into the house it stopped and then reversed a bit. Since recently getting my father's old Lionel O27 trains back in working condition, I think it's actually the technical nature of the reversing transformer operating the trolley. When you stop the forward motion, the next motion will be reverse. Then stop again and the next motion will be forward. So they had to stop the trolley and make it reverse slightly so that when they were ready to have it move it again, it would move in the forward direction.
The Trolley was the only way that we the viewers could get to the Land of Make Believe, but how did some of the human characters like Speedy Delivery and Officer Clemmons and Handy Man Joe NEgri get there when the Trolley was not scaled for humans and neither was any of the puppet characters like X the Owl or King Friday or Lady Elaine Fairchild...? And How did Mister Rogers always know what was going on in the Land of Make Believe?
Believe it or not, I just found out this ride existed a few days ago. Daniel is soooo cute on this ride! By the way, how come the sound goes out at various points? Technical difficulties? I'm guessing the unexpected surprise appearance was the dear outside of Corney's factory?
Did Mr Rogers actually take part in the creation of the ride? (Sounds as he and the others recorded the voices for some of the characters from the actual show), if so, really cool! And the animatronics look really well made of the characters too! :) Too bad it had to be replaced with that cheap Daniel Tiger Bootleg, kinda getting sick of seeing it everywhere while the original show of Mr. Rogers is starting to be kinda not popular or on TV as much anymore and forgotten by the new generation because of it. Kids know this new “Daniel Tiger”, but do they actually know the original Daniel “Striped Tiger from the original show voiced by Fred or even who he even is? Sadly, probably not. 😔 It’s a shame how such a cheap bootleg cartoon of the REAL thing plays 24/7 while the original plays once or barely even at all anymore. Kids need to see Mr. Rogers and the REAL characters from the original show like this instead of those bootlegged ones from that cartoon that are cheap that don’t even look like the original characters. That show will NEVER top the original. :) I’m glad I grew up with the real thing, THIS is how I remember the characters. :)
The park designers have set the stage beautifully; now the trolly hostess must do her part to make this a magical trip through the Land of Make Believe. Her lack of enthusiasm kills the fun, like rain on a beach vacation. Does she not realize what a special day this is for the kids and their parents? Why is there no joy in her voice? Why is she indifferent when the trolly rolls up and all these beloved characters talk to her?
They are never going to get ride of this ride! it's too important! it's true, it is an old ride. But old is good. That means that people love it! I think that I was never smiling or excited ever about going to idlewild because well. It's kinda weird to say how should I explain oh yes. scary looking creatures walking around. And that's what always stops me from going to amusment parks like this. And I've only been at idlewild like 3 times. And I can remember never being happy at idlewild at all. But if they do get rid of this ride. Than no one who visits idlewild will probably never be happy when they find out that the ride has been replaced for something totally unessesary to have instead. So that is not true about this ride being taken from the park. it just can't go! end of discusion!
what a lovely ride, and neat place, thanks for sharing!

I thought you did a good job...not sure what that one comment was talking about. How often did you see wildlife there?
fullermrff almost every day. There were deer that walked through one summer. It was a fawn with two little ones.
Tayler Hansen
Is this place still up and running?
Yes, they changed it to Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.
It's actually quite a drastic change. Now it feels kinda bubblegum rock and happy smiles, a bit outside Mr. Rogers and his calm ideas.
What a lovely ride and neat place! Thanks for sharing!
I didn't even knew this place existed. Thanks for posting.
Wow!! I love King Friday!! This is fabulous!! Oh, I hope once in my life I can go and see this super groovy Land Of Make Believe!! AWESOME!!
The
It seems that the adults enjoyed it more than the kids

Now it's the Daniel Tiger Trolley.
Did Mr. Rogers himself do the voices of the characters for the ride?
I want to know too!
Where is that at
im from indiana county next to westmorland county were idlewild is now i live and wv
Why was it called the Boomerang- Toomerang-Zoomerang?
Just Fred Rogers' sense of humor, trying to show how eccentric Lady Elaine was.
I never new this existed. Where is this located ❓
It's at Idlewild Amusement Park.
Believe it or not, I just found out this ride existed a few days ago. Daniel is soooo cute on this ride! By the way, how come the sound goes out at various points? Technical difficulties?

Hi
Where is this ride located what state
It was in Pennsylvania but it is now Daniel tiger and friends as of 3 4 years ago
A beautiful pink and blue castle. Does anybody know who lives here? Taylor Swift? No? Just a guess.

What would have made it for fun is if Lady Aberlin was driving the trolley.
They're getting rid of this ride and making it daniel tigers neighborhood
So I read. It's a shame that some characters will be absent from the ride though.
