As I understand...clean bleed...oil bleed....then preload release before install.....however.....how does one prevent...pump up or pump over or AIR purged....my Final Solution is hold in vice....Install ONE at a TIME immediately after holding position in vice.......so as not to STAB a Valve because of pump up or TOPOUT into Piston during rotation installation test.

i just installed new lifters like this in my van , left them in oil over night , fitted them hard . van still isnt quiet after about 80 miles , maybe it should of put them in soft ?

Hi, One thing i decided to install them soft was that it should be easier to install if lifters are soft, and then let the oil pressure to lift them up. Many people do install them hard and not sure if their cars/vans are running alright? In your case, as you have installed them, if the engine oil pressure is in normal range, I would recommend to let it run for some more miles? Stay safe!

HI, The car should sound better after they are replaced. You could drive for a few days to see if it gets better. Make sure the engine oil at the correct level and you have good oil pressure. Good luck!

How to repair the tappets/lifters noise in VW vento petrol .. ?? Or do we have to replace them completely please help

Hi, if you car has no other problems and you intend to keep the car for more years, it would be good decision to replace all tappets/lifters. However if you only want to keep the car for a few months or a year or two, it may be better to live with the noise or just replace those that obviously faulty. Good luck!

Hi I purchased brand new lifters for my VW POLO 1.2 petrol 2010. I soak the lifters in oil the way you show it on your video and bleed them or removing the oil from it then fitting them when they feel soft when compressed and not hard. Then when I start up the engine it gives loud noise which I believe is from lifters. Then I removed the lifters again and checked they were very hard and can not be compressed and don’t feel soft like before fitting. Can you pls guid me here. Much appreciated.

Hi, after you installed them soft and ran the engine, they should become hard as the engine oil filled them up by running the engine. These removed lifters can be kept in oil for storage before re-installation. If you can remember their positions, you can just install them back without making them soft because they are at the correct lengths already. Have a good day!

RepairDIY thanks for quick respond but the problem is that I I forgot their original positions because all of them looks the same to me I replaced all of them by new ones. However when I fitted the new lifters and ran the engine for maybe less than 5 mins but there were still loud noise of the lifters. Should I leave the engine running for some hour or longer in order to get Rid of the noise. And about their positions I’m confused because all of the new lifters looks exactly the same and I have forgotten from which place I removed the original lifters. Thanks again

RepairDIY and how long will it take for the loud noise to go away ?

@@DARI-FARSI-TRADER Hi, you are right, all the lifters are the same. After they are fitted and you have run the engine, they may be at different heights at different locations. Only if you remember their locations on removal, you can install them to their original locations. If you didn't remember their locations, you can just install them as "new". To me, I think it is easier to install if they are soft and they will be at the exact correct heights after running engine. As some people do install them "hard", thus it may not affect normal engine running. Good luck.

RepairDIY appreciate it mate. I did that few mins ago and let the engine run for 10-15 mins but still loud noise coming from lifters. But it goes quiet for a little bit then back to loud noise again. I hope it gets better just to let the engine run for longer. God bless brother.
