    Can't deny that hale navy (BM), polo blue (I forget) & nightclub (Behr) are beautiful blues among the many more. Classics like those colors stand the test of time.

      Old Navy vs Hale Navy is a battle for most people

    Our new navy kitchen will be a big improvement on the '80s orange wood we inherited!

    I once had a part time job cleaning a kitchen that had deep jade green cabinets, super high gloss, and no visible hardware. The cabinet doors were push-to-open. This was an unfortunate combination of colour, finish, and hardware, because it was impossible to open the cabinets without leaving very visible fingerprints on the glossy finish.

    There was a day high gloss was always used on doors and trim in higher end homes( yep showing my age, lol). By far, the best gloss I've used recently is Farrow & Balls - it's water-based and levels beautifully. im glad to see Gloss returning

    I like the blue variety kitchen cabinets. Wow very interesting to see so much high gloss. I've never been able to make a high gloss paint look good. I have no clue what I'm doing. haha

    Well… not sure what you mean by “affiliated with Architectural Digest.” Summer Thornton has been published in AD, I can’t remember if Jenna Chused or Michael Aiduss have. Haven’t heard of the others. Yes the black frames in the kitchen by Summer Thornton are glass and how she divided the kitchen from the living area. I totally agree that there’s way too much blue currently and will probably be the harvest gold or avocado green of our time eventually. The first time I saw a lacquered blue butler’s pantry, it was lovely. The 25th, not so much. I saw a high-gloss blue in a regional Luxe mag this weekend that wasn’t properly prepared, and was just a mess of bad brushwork and wood grain. My understanding is bc of the labor for all the sanding in between coats, it’s a very expensive finish to do correctly. I think they call it Level Five, but maybe you could share what that means?

  • @jstokes
    @jstokes ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Notice that the kitchen by Manolo Langis has no upper cabinets. There is a shelf there above the highly figured marble backsplash, and White Arrow also has no upper cabinets. In this type of configuration there is usually a wall opposite that we cannot see in these mages that is completely fitted with cabinets like a pantry closet. And/or an additional butlers pantry room where there is storage. The benefits of no upper cabinets is visually the kitchen seems more like a living space, and in other designers work especially in the UK you now see artwork incorporated in the kitchen. To make the shelving work is to have things on the shelves that you use every day -otherwise if its just decorative accessories those will get dusty over time.
    Other trends in kitchens not shown here are dark yellow kitchens (India Yellow, Farrow and Ball), dusty warm beige cabinets (Cord, farrow and ball) dusty pink cabinets (setting plaster Farrow and Ball, sulking pink ) and green cabinets (bancha Farrow and Ball) and dusty Blue cabinets (Yarbridge Blue Benjamin Moore)

    Jewel tones are fun but I lean towards classics. Trends are trends for a reason. Maybe I’m boring but I don’t want to repaint every few years. Loved a previous video you made about ways to update your kitchen without completely repainting. IMO, outer space for the win😊

    • @jeffbiddle1956
      @jeffbiddle1956 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sweetie, no one is repainting every few years. I picked navy cabinets before this trend started and they’ll be navy after the trend is over. Just do what makes YOU happy and if it’s trending, hooray.

      That's the thing, people either have the money to have a company come in to repaint maybe even order new cabinets or they do it themselves. Just seems wasteful to use colors like this but to each their own
