I have an M&P40 2.0 4.25" and it shoots so extremely well! I am sure this one does as well, I think a M&P45 2.0 will definitely be in my quiver!

I bought a new s&w. M&p before Christmas, I paid $ 410 at Bud's gun shop. I'm went to the range Wednesday to put 150 rounds through it. First time shooting it, sights are right on and the grip ergonomics were great. Mine came in a plastic case.

Excellent video. My first carry gun was a first generation M & P 45 compact, and while I like it a lot, I couldn't really love it. After all, it was good, but not a 1911. My next carry piece was a 9 mm M & P Shield, which I also really like. From there I went to a Smith and Wesson 442 J fremae revolver. That's been my summer carry since June 2014, and my winter carry is a Rock Island Armory m 206 doa revolver. But I may have to take another look at my M & P 45 c after watching your excellent review.

I just bought two 2017 M&P 9mm full size pistols, and they came in the nice blue plastic case. I like .45, so thanks for sharing!

@@SoccerVJ2011 HST and Ranger-T is my go to. Have 9mm RangerOne and they announced it will come in .40 and .45. waiting for my local LE shop to stock it cause I love RangerOne.

I just got my LTC and I went with this 45 shield as my first. Haven't had time to shoot it yet but watching all the videos about it.
Thanks for the great review. A couple of days before your review I came to the same conclusion regarding the backstraps, what a pity, the large one is the best for shooting but the medium large is the most comfortable one. You can't have all :-/

You are right about the back straps I bought a Walther PPQ M2 and I was getting ready to sell it but I put on the large backstrap and now it carries fine and it shoots just fine.

Owned mine for a year with too small a grip.
My finger does gall naturally on pad with Medium Large grip.

Your video is very well done and much appreciated! Now here we are in 2021 and I struggle to find OWB holsters for this model. I would have thought all the major companies would produce them, but so far Vedder seems to be the only one you can get.
Or you could look at leather holster for similarly sized guns
2.0 your not suppose to pull the trigger to remove the slide, suppose to depress the slide deactivation lever in the magazine well, trigger design is slightly different the the earlier M&P pistols.

Thanks Graham. Great info & presentation. We have been eagerly expecting this M&P. We are thrilled that it holds @ least 10. I have opted to get the 2.0 in 40 full size for capacity. Been seriously considering the 2.0 Compact since it's release. I carried the 40c for a few years and was pleased but wanted a bit more. Carrying the 45 Shield off & on has put me in the mind to wait for this gun. Looking forward to your range review. Good job soldier.
So how about holsters? Will the old compact 45 holster fit? It currently fits the holster I bought for the m&p 2.0 9mm 4.25”. This gun just come out last month and maybe the 4.25” for 9mm will work fine?
If a side by side 9 & 45 isn't too much of a headache, I know our family would appreciate it. There are three 45 Shield ccw in our family & some 9mm. This 45 is a definite possibility for some of us. Thanks again.
I like the Shield pistols, but I don't like the limited capacity, especially in 45 ACP. Try carrying a compact gun such as this and you'll grow used to it very quickly.
Love some 45acp. The S&W Compact is a good shooter. Should be fun.

Where Can I find a kydex IWB holster for this? I checked everywhere and they only make holsters for the 9mm/40 for the 2.0 however nobody makes one for the 2.0 in 45acp. Please help.
Nice video. Can you tell me the size difference between the 9mm and 45 magazine? I have the 45 compact 2.0 and ordered a holster for the 9/40 and it fit. Now i want to order another one with the extra mag ( sidecar style) and worried the 45 mag will not fit. Thanks.

Always save the box. It makes it easier for the store clerk to inter the necessary information on the pistol or rifle. And it is frustrating to buy the pistol in a pawn shop or a used gun section in certain sporting gun store and the extra magazine that is supposed to come with the pistol is missing!!! I recently bought a S&W M&P C in a 40 and it was missing the box and the extra magazine along with the adjustable grip sizes. The cheapest magazine I could find was $40.00.!! I keep making the rounds to the pawn shops to find cheaper ones. No luck yet. This S&W 45 is in my I need to have this one. I already have my Mil spec 1911 Auto Ordinance and stainless 1911 C in Ruger.

Once upon a time I worried about finger placement on the trigger. My hands are so big that even a Cz-97 is too short to get the ‘ideal’ part of the finger on there without pulling my finger away from the side of the gun. Then, I learned that some amazing shooters don’t even worry about it: they just hook their finger in as far as it will go. You can learn to pull straight back with any finger placement.

The S&W Spec sheets say the thickness is the same for the 2.0 45 compact and the 2.0 9mm at 1.3" thick for both. The .45 looks a bit thicker in the vid?
Grevlain The 9mm version has a little more cut away off the sides of the slide, but the slide at the rail is no thicker. My M&P45, M&P40, and M&P9 all fit in the same holster.
Compare to the 45 sub compact?

Almost a full 2 years later, S&W finally releases an *actual* .45 Compact, but, because they had already blown that name on this half-assed 'Commander', were forced to call the real compact a 'Subcompact'...with an 8 round mag, like it should have had all along! :)

Pop-up style loaded chamber indicators usually have contact with the round thus increasing the possibility of a male function
2.0 has a crisper trigger, but not much out there can rival the Walther PPQ trigger for striker-fired.

Holy crap you sound like a guy I work with. Although he’s never shot a gun so I know you ain’t him lol. I had a first gen M&P9 that I really liked although I had some issues. The M&P m2.0 fixed all my issues with the gun and they’re priced perfect. Great quality and not overly priced for what it is like Glock. I’m set on the M&P m2.0 as a truck gun. My HKs are loved too much and also somewhat expensive to leave in my truck at all times lol. I’d love my HK USP or HK45CT as a truck gun but if that got stolen that’s a heavy loss lol. This fits the bill perfectly and is still a very reputable gun!
I used specific firearms in my vehicle too until it dawned on me that if I always carry, isn't my carry also my truck gun?
Andrew Ostertag I like to have a gun that is easily accessible that’s always there even if I’m not CC. Drawing from a Concealed holster while buckled in is a PITA compared to having an easily accessible handgun. My $0.02

As far as accuracy you never know until you shoot them. Longer barrel does not make it more accurate.
Do you have a side by side of the 2.0 compact in this video and the shield 2.0 chambered in 45. I would love to see a side by side of those 2 guns.

The grip appears to be more of a full size grip instead of the compact 2.0 9mm grip.

Fabulous firearm! Would be good to compare against the Glock 21 or G36. Aren't the original M&P mags backwards compatible to the M2.0? Why not have a 14 Rd mag for
I carry a Glock 22 as my duty weapon, but I'm not entirely enthused with the Glock grip. I much prefer S&W M&P for personal self defense.
As of this point I think you're the only person on TH-cam to review this gun!! Going for around $400 now!!

Finally! This is the first review I have seen for this pistol. The box vs. case really cheapens the look of the product. I purchased the m2.0 9mm compact last year and it came with a case. The full size 45 m2.0 comes with a case as well... to my knowledge.
Can you please compare the grip length/height of the 9mm 2.0 compact with this gun OR compare this gun to the full size version. The biggest question many of us have is if the grip is shorter or not. I initially thought this gun was going to be a G19/2.0 compact size pistol. Many believe the grip to be full size in length. Which is it?? In the video the 45 looked taller but was that because the slide is thicker or the grip was longer? Thanks!
The grip is slightly longer. The .45 is a bit larger in all dimensions.

Yes. Personally I believe more barrel is always better. More energy on target and a longer sight radius

When you field stripped it, why didn't you use the sear deactivation lever, like you are instructed to do in the Owners Manual??

So this is more of a carry/commander size gun huh? Why didn’t S&W make it identical size to the original m&p 45c, which was an 8+1 true compact and size of the g19. It appears all they did was shorten the barrel and slide on the new 45c. I’m gonna hold out until after shot show to see if they make a 8+1 45c with a true compact grip. This gun still does it for me though and I might end up with it before the one I really want lol

I have wanted one of these in either .40 or .45 (have MORE than enough 9mm handguns!) and it’s a tough choice cause S&W made such a huge improvement between the O..G M&P and the 2.0 that it’s not so easy to decide anymore! If I had the $$$ I’d just buy both, but I literally just picked up my FN 509LE today.....you should DEFINITELY grab one if you can......so it’s one or the other. Kinda sorta. It's not a full mullet gun like the Glock 19X, but if you want 10 rounds of .45 you're going ot need some real estate.

Thomas Cuddy i had an M&P9 that was the most inaccurate pistol I’ve ever seen.
Slytiger - hummm. I didn’t have any problems with mine from an accuracy standpoint (other than my own poor shooting at times.) I just got bored with the gun and ended up trading it for a Bersa TPR9C. The Bersa is a hoot to shoot. It’s all metal and clunky as hell. If I run out of ammo, it’ll make a great club. As always, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.

Barrel size
So if the full-size 2.0 in 45 is a 10+1 does that mean that the compact 45 uses the same mags since its 10+1
There is no difference in capacity between the full and compact size .45 acp and they use the exact same magazines, the only physical difference is in barrel and slide length between models.
So, similar to a Commander-sized 1911 and a Government. Grip is identical, slide is different. I don't think they should have called it the "Compact" model, since their other "Compacts" have shorter grips and reduced round count.
@@Grevlain maybe but it was easier than calling it a SF for short frame or SS for short slide. I agree though it is rather odd in classification being that every other compact has reduced capacity by 2 rounds but that would make the compact the same capacity as the shield only in a staggered stack configuration. So while it would provide the same features as all the rest of compact models it really didn't make sense from a manufacturing expense standpoint and it would potentially hurt the 45acp shield sales making it a double whammy. This is speculation of course but would be my reasoning if I were the CEO of R&D or of marketing.
The real difference is the full size should have 3 more rounds. This is the classic compact frame size.
