  • Spring is here and the strawberries are soon to follow. To get into the "spring of things", I thought we'd make a strawberry syrup this week. But a plain strawberry syrup is kinda boring. So, I've been thinking - what kind of unique combinations go well with strawberries? ...Almonds? I think i've discovered something here! Cheers!

I can almost smell it! Quick question: if you have the time. A coworker of mine challenged me to make a cocktail using her homemade chokecherry syrup. Do you have any ideas that would work?

I recommend looking for a flavor pairing website and substituting the simple syrup of an already existing cocktail for the chokecherry syrup

If you're using chokecherry syrup, or any syrup for that matter, the golden ratio is a good place to start. This ratio is a mix of two parts spirit, one part sour, and one part sweet. Following this ratio will help you create a well-balanced drink. Try pairing your chokecherry syrup with brandy and lemon, which seems like a harmonious match to me. Maybe a little egg white topping for a great mouthfeel. Gin could also work well and complement the syrup's unique flavour profile. The possibilities are endless. You could try mixing it with Prosecco, lemonade, soda, or sparkling water to create a refreshing drink. These are just some suggestions off the top of my head, but you need to experiment with different combinations until you find your perfect mix. Cheers!
