  • The Yurta is unlike any yurt you've ever seen. It was featured on Breakfast Television, Toronto's most watched morning show on September 21, 2011.
In the first part of this video, you can see the unique frame design that allows two people to completely install a Yurta in two hours, with no tools. At 17' feet in diameter, the 226 square feet shelter is an incredibly steadfast large shelter. Because it is so portable, it is easy to adapt to changing needs.
Yurta is a superb leisure or permanent shelter for all climates and sites. Snow or wind loads not an issue.
    The Yurta also features:
    -amazing 100% wool felt insulation
    - breathable and non-toxic outer fabrics
    - large operable skydome
    - large multi-function windows
    - solid cedar door

Wonderful, I love it! I'd like to know the net weight. I suppose it's easy enough to fold up and throw on a small flat bed tow.
Btw, most of these are slightly above ground, so I would advise putting a skirt around the perimeter to keep out animals especially skunks. Thanks for the show.

very funny, it's yurt of 21 century. But I want to say about the main idea which was kept for thousands years by those who invented it, my ancestors - nomads. Our ancestors kept the idea that we are all only guests in this world, nothing can be ours, cause everything in it: the land, the sky and stars belong to God. And it's a sin to say my land (its not yours), so they never forgot that they are only guests of this world, and were grateful to Creator for the land, sky and nature.

I did look into larger Pacific Yurts, and other yurt ideas online. But then ended up building a "round cabin" with a similar yurt shape and a sloped roof. It will stand up much much longer than a yurt like one of these. I will upload a video of it soon and give you the link. Thanks.

I do prefer your design as it is more in keeping with the portable idea, and can be put up with one person, also it doesn't nead a lorry to move it.

another benefit is since they are considered a "tent" if you put one on your property there are no x-tra taxes incurred. :)

Points for effort but seems like a very weak structure compared to a traditional yurt (built two myself).
