What’s your favorite Victor recording?
Eliot Morris - What's Mine Is Yours
Love Victor’s work on Californication TV show - the theme especially!
hands down his playing along with Tony Mangurian on Willie Nelson's incredible Teatro record is a high high benchmark for me for musical drumming. has been since the first time i heard the songs. back when that album came out they had a black and white film of them playing those songs live in the teatro studio and i was just blown away by the rhythms. i didnt realize until years later that it was victor. every note is so musical and perfectly chosen. the parts intertwine perfectly between the two drummers and everything else. it's just perfect drumming.
haha. as i typed that comment, i got to the part in this video where you guys discuss that record. its so brilliant, i hope you have had a chance to go back and listen to that album.
Scott Weiland's 12 Bar Blues and Magnificent Bastards
Also, Beck!
These are such amazing interviews. Jake is literally getting the best drummers in the world to sit behind a kit and talk drums openly like they’re talking to their buddy. So valuable.
Wow ❤ I love this. The talk, the feel, and everything about this video is just great. I swear I jumbed first when started to jam. The greedy part of me wants you to have a regular show together. Just beautiful. Thank you ❤
Matt Chamberlain next!!!
That would be killer!
Yes!
Absolutely 💯
Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes please
I am humbled. 25 years of playing drums and I haven’t even scratched the surface of what is possible with these incredible instruments. Drum set, percussion, our discerning ears and even how eloquently we communicate with our voices. Victor and Jake are both a fine reserve of human. Top shelf interview, Jake.
With gratitude, Steve
I've done session work here and there, nothing major. It was such a pleasure to hear Victor had played on a few tracks I'm on. Even if I received the news well after the sessions. I love Victor's playing. Thank you for the interview.
I see Victor and click immediately. Loving this and all the interviews you've done. Thanks so much!
Wonderful! Victor gets it. It’s still about the FEEL. It’s also Ringo’s World ~ we’re just riding his Shining Time Train! 2 great cats talking and playing together!👏🏽
What a ripper! This long form format is killer Jake, thanks so much!🙏
Could NOT stop smiling when he and then the two of you played. Actually, I'm still smiling, pretty hard.
Had the pleasure of working with Victor a bunch in the mid 2000s. Dude was the first LA session drummer I got to watch play, and became the standard I judged all other drummers by. Also the nicest guy in the world!
Great to here discussion on click tracks and playing to them, especially when he talked about playing right on it for the verse, then laying back and other times on the leading edge. Also, my drum schooling was similar to his early schooling in the respect of only straight feel or swing feel, so good to hear him talk of percentage of swing feel, no one ever taught me that. Excellent to hear his approach to playing with a click track.
touch. feel. its all there. thanks for sharing.
Hermoso todo ❤
These interviews are incredible. So many tips tricks insights.
MIDNIGHT VULTURES?!!! Debra is one of my favorite tunes.
Can’t we all just tape a tom?
Great job Jake. Love ya Victor. JW🤘🏼
Thanks, Victor!❤
Amazing! Willies Teatro is one of my favorite records. Brilliant work.
Absolutely loving these interviews! So good!
Great interview! Victor is a treasure of a musician. Thanks to you both for your time and effort to put this together!
awesome insight! thank you for this... also, Chris McHugh would be an awesome guest! Cheers Jake!
Loved this one, Jake...very special.
I really like these interviews, and I hate to be that guy, but I think it would be nice with some more snippets of drumming interwoven with the talking. It makes a really good jumping off point for interesting discussions. Happy new year!
Wow, was not expecting that long list of very appreciable artists. Gotta search out Mr. Indrizzo's work after this vid ends.
So groovy ! Happy new year🥁
Love this, great to see his touch & hands
This was great! Thanks!
Great video.
You're doing some great interviews. Thanks!
great interview series. learning heaps from these (as a bass player). Valuable production insights.
Wow Victor is a great Drummer!!!
Great! Thanks (again)
Lizzo Indrizzo sounds like something Snoop said in the 90s
Top marks for the laugh this just gave me 😂
Great interview Jake!! I appreciate the conversations that you and Victor provided. May I ask what that ring is called on Victor's floor tom? All of the drums sounded wonderful!
another invaluable interview. thank you so very much jake for sharing your valuable time to create these treasures! BTW- im curious as to how you have YOUR bass drum pedal's set up typically please?
sick jam ❤
Groove BEAST. Plays with my bud Cedric in Alanis' band. Have loved his playing for years! 🫡
Sick jam, fellas! Great convo too
He’s explaining the normal drumming thoughts!!!
Thanks for this Jake! Victor is one cool cat. I'd like to have a herbal tea with him. 🤭 He would calm me down.
Great talk... thank you Jake. Victor comes across as an artist and not a technician. Playing out of a feeling.... indeed not talked about enough. He speaks a bit like David Kemper although they play different ; ] Keep rockin
Liked and subscribed.
I definitely have slept with the metronome with earbuds! In 2005 I spent a year learning to play with the click with the Mr. Click double CD 😂 Remember that?
YES
Vinnie Colaiuta next!
Josh Freese next!!
Sound in sync?
James Gadson or Harvey Mason Sr. Next??
Is it really necessary to put loud snare sound when one of your guests says shit or fuck? Is this channel for kids? Aren't we over that by now? But the channel is great.
Wait he played on Diary Of A Wimpy Kid???
Not Just a Great Drummer….Get him on a guitar:-)….Love Victor..
nope
What is this shit of overdubbing the guy's voice with a snare every now and then?
Censoring certain swear words for TH-cam’s monetization system
James Gadson or Harvey Mason Sr. Next??
