I feel like this game's cute look and music is almost a prank considering its difficulty. But certainly it is a classic in its own right and should not be seen as Green Kirby. I'm so glad the anniversary edition introduced so many people to it, and with QOL features that will let them have a chance at clearing this very challenging game.
@@Lurdiak The cutesy style definitely hides how cruel the game can be. I really appreciate it though, the soundtrack is something out of this world. Oh and you're absolutely right, Special Edition is a fantastic package. Game looks crisp, and has stuff for experts and beginnings. They even added pictures of the manual and other promo artwork.
Gimmick on NES was truly ahead of its time, as many people have never seen a video game like that before. You have given a really good explanation about this game and I hope you continue making videos about obscure games. Also let's hope Gimmick 2 lives up to the previous game, or at least be a good game to have fun with.
Happy to hear I was able to convey what makes this game very impressive! I really hope Gimmick 2 turns out to be a great game, I'm a bit worried about it ^^''
Great video! I hadn’t ever heard of this game before, but it looks really interesting! I could definitely tell from what was in the video that it was definitely a really good quality game for the system. It seems like the kind of game you would get if you fused Kirby with Mega Man and Super Mario Bros. 2.
Thank you for watching! I hope you can give the game a chance, I do see the similarities between this and SMB2, Kirby and such, the end result is pretty great! xD
Oh it surely is a tough challenge! Though I hope Gimmick 2 keeps the difficulty, but adding some sort of easy mode, so new players can get into the game with no problem.
Ya know, it's kinda funny how people nowadays are complaining about how every game has to be this "High fidelity movie-like experience" or something like that when back in the day people stopped caring about NES games pretty quick after the SNES launched because it wasn't the new shiny thing anymore. It's a shame too because this game does look pretty good, I'll be keeping an eye on that new version. (Also spoiler talk down below) I'm kinda wondering what the inspiration for the final boss was actually, outfit looks kind of like a sports uniform, but the sword says "Action hero" so maybe something like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai? granted I'm not sure if there were any Riders or Sentai rangers who welded swords around the time this came out, unless Kamen Rider Black RX was out at the time. (You'd also have to wonder where he came from, I know he wasn't in the intro to have a "Super secret cool final boss", but if he wasn't in the intro, does the figure even belong to her? most young girls aren't into stuff like that, with some exceptions, so it does bring up a few questions)
Yeah, the 'graphics race' has always been a thing across videogame history. It is the reason why many games used to be canceled or repurposed for stronger consoles, like Star Fox 2 or Final Fantasy IV. I'm also wondering about who the inspiration for that fellow was, he definitely looks like a Kamen Rider, except for the sword. I'm guessing that figure belongs to her, but he was either thrown away or hidden somewhere. I guess it's left to the player's imagination! xD
@@burncrowsp Yeah that's a good theory, I also looked it up, and Kamen Rider Black RX came out in 1988, and this game came out in 1991, so there's a good chance Black RX was an inspiration considering he's one of the handful of riders who uses a sword.
@@burncrowsp Part of me likes to think this figure was something her father owned as a kid and he passed it on to his daughter early in her life. This could also be the Fire Emblem side of me speaking, but I swear this guy looks like Dedue from Three Houses.

A game I've wanted to try for a while. I didn’t know it had such a rich history, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching too! Let me know what you think once you give it a shot, I'm sure you'll enjoy it

Mr.Gimmick is cute
He's indeed a cute lil' fellow!
Oh. I am so playing this. It's both interesting and adorable. It's funny how a bunch of toys kidnapped their owner doe.
Please do! The plot is kinda like Toy Story before that was even a thing. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
@@burncrowsp yeah I will. Didn't watch the special stage section to not get spoiled.
Then good luck! I'm sure you can get in there no problemo :>
Toy Story gone wrong be like:
This game aged pretty well imo.
Yeah! Like fine wine, I'd say.
Liking the new avatar, buddy ^^
Ayyy, thank you! My fellow Chozomy did a fantastic job.
I hope Gimmick 2 will tone down the difficulty from the first game. Holy moley! this game is hard to get the true ending!

That could be the case too! He does kinda look like Dedue, maybe he's his lost great grandfather xD
