Do not worry about getting and looking older. Agatha Christie’s advice about archaeologists will surely fit detectorists, An archeologist is the best husband any woman can have; the older she gets, the more interested he is in her. 😊

What a pleasure John. Catching up on my subscriptions. The longer ones wait sometimes as I don't always get the time. The heartburn will be the Jura I expect 😄. I've been on tablets over 20 years for it. Life changing for me. Kept me up for hours beforehand. Coming to Scotland in a week to see the family actually. Should be good. Thanks again buddy 👌

I truly love your videos. Your knowledge of Uk history keeps me coming back! By way of background I am somewhat of a musketball junkie. I am an armorer for the film industry and a flintlock geek. The little “nipple” on a musket ball is called a sprue. The more pronounced it is relates to the mold. The larger, the earlier as a rule of “bendy” thumb. I have tons of musket ball trivia available if needed. Frankly, never mind, it’s never needed. I’m just a musket junkie. Please forgive.

Some interesting finds as ever. Re your explanation of why so many coins etc in fields - dont forget also the shoddy trade (old wollen clothes being used as fertilizer). Coins, buttons, buckles etc would have been left on/in the clothes whilst they rotted, then just spread over the fields. Many of my fields have military items such as button/buckles, musket balls, bullets etc that I'm sure sure were left in the old uniforms that were dumped after Waterloo rather than as a result of actual local military activity. Happy hunting and keep 'em coming !! :)

Nice finds as usual. 👍👏👏🥃🥃 That musket ball with the ‘Sprue’ not nipple, was poured a bit cold, or the pour was interrupted. That’s what would cause the fold, or groove in it. The joint between the two halves of the mould, leave that characteristic ridge around the ball in line with the sprue.

Here in SE Idaho the kids still get 2 weeks off for Spud Harvest. The teenagers and adults still work during the harvest. They drive trucks or work sorting the potatoes from rocks and weeds. I wonder what could be found in those fields since they’ve been farming them since 1860’s. We’re just babies here. Lol

Hi John, I try making sure I eat at least 4 hours before bed. Also foods like wheat(gluten), milk, nuts curries, garlic, ginger, alcohol, acidic foods etc can cause heartburn as can junk foods like crisps. A couple of Gav Double Action would have fixed it but find the root cause is better. Avoid hot foods and drinks too that is how I deal with mine. Also try eating an apple before bed. Strange but works for me and was recommended. 👍
