    Hey guys! I just wanted to hangout and chat with you all today! I talk about Tater a lot in this update but he and his health are a big part of our lives! I would love know if you guys think the neck bruising is normal or if that should be an area of concern. The vets office didn't see the bruise but they said it was probably where the blood was drawn so Im hoping that is all it is because google has made me nervous about dog bruising😅! We have been continuing our house hunt and I promise I should have an exciting update soon about the "thing" I have been talking about and maybe even a potential move! Leave any comments or questions you have down below! Love ya💖

      Hello! Veterinary Nurse here! The bruise looks super consistent with a blood draw, especially if he was super wiggly - it can definitely cause a bruise like that! For his allergy testing - not sure if he’s seeing a dermatologist- if not I highly recommend going that route vs doing the blood allergy test. Most derms will do intradermal allergy testing and it’s usually a lot more accurate. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them!

      I think it depends, was he wearing a leash often, is it hurting the dog or he is acting normal, did he had some vacation or medication on that área or close, if he was wearing something it can also just be an allergie or reaction, my dog had those with a leash, and she used that one over almost a year before no harm but one day is was bad, we throw it out and bought other from different material and it was gone.

      You may check the peanut butter to see if it has any of the fake sugars in it bc that can cause issues with dogs. Make sure the peanut butter is only peanuts

If I lived near you I think you and I would be great friends lol I don’t think you realize what a truly wonderful person you are❣️ The love you have for Tater and Ren is a sight to behold. The fact that you wanna go fight someone because you think they might have hurt him warms my heart ❤ He is so lucky to have you and Jeremey for his pawrents. I really enjoyed this catch up video and thank you for making it. It’s nice to see where you are with your health, the house hunt, work and whatever else you want to share. Hey babes, licensed esthetician here! It sounds like your skin barrier is severely damaged. I’d recommend a gentle, simple skin care routine for a few weeks until it’s repaired. Gentle cleanser, leukwarm water, hyaluronic acid serum, barrier repair serum/cream, moisturizer, spf for daytime. No harsh chemicals or makeup or anythingggg until it’s repaired. I hope you see this and it helps 💕 aquaphor also is extremely helpful!
    Also I’m not a dr so do whatever your dermatologist/pcp says 😂❤
    P.S. you are beautiful with or without makeup 💋

      Exactly!! EVERYONE on TH-cam complains about their skin problems but then proceeds to try too cover it up with make up. You won’t die if you go a while with out makeup to let your skin heal. You might be uncomfortable but you won’t die and your skin with thank you for the breather.

    Hey! Lifelong crocheter here! Here's an easy way to make sure you have no tails: you can either (one) take the tail and the main yarn that you're using and crochet them both into the first few stitches, or two) you could use a yarn needle and after you're done with your project, Stitch it into the project and hide it that way. Just a couple of things that I've done over the years. Have fun on your crocheting Journey!
    Also, you can make so much with Granny squares! I have a friend who has made blankets for beds, bags, she even made me a little wrap using granny squares this christmas! I've actually used a granny square pattern similar to the first one you showed to make a baby blanket for a friend. (Just kept doing the rounds til it got big enough.) You can do so much with them!

    My bunny, who sadly passed over a year ago, was sickly from the moment we got him, and I remember that feeling of being grateful we were the ones who adopted him because I’m disabled so I could always be with him. I think being constantly there to monitor him helped us keep him with us for nine wonderful years. I still miss him so badly I’m tearing up, but getting those years was such a blessing. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me. So I really empathize with you and Tater. I hope he gets healthier and has a long, wonderful life with you. Hi Alexandria, When you go to your new doctor, ask them for a complete blood panel workup. It can determine a lot. Most of your symptoms you mentioned are ones that I suffer from with my Hashimoto's which is a thyroid condition. The weight gain, headache and gluten intolerance along with the rash you are describing are ones I suffer from. The body aches are one of the ones I suffer from daily. It would definitely be worth getting it checked out and the blood panel work up can really tell you so much

    • @stampertje9844

      I totally agree and make sure they also do an allergy panel because some of the symptomes can come from allergies that you mabey developt over time. Changes are that multiple things together causing all the problems.

    Hey, I work at a vet clinic so I can help clear some things up! The jugular vein is the quickest and easiest way to get blood from a dog! Tater is a pretty small boy and smaller dogs tend to bruise more easily and that’s most likely why he had the bruise on his neck. Most clinics are fear free so as soon as a pup lets us know they aren’t having it, we send them home with some calming meds (aka gabapentin and trazodone) that helps take the edge off. If it makes you feel better, you could always ask them to draw blood from the back leg too! Hope this helps. Also, if he hasn’t tried Apoquel or Cytopoint for allergies he can try that as well! It works wonders for my pup

    • @sarawhite9338
      @sarawhite9338 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Our vet last time sent us home with 100mg capsules of gabapentin for my 13 lb boy kitty that they scared the pee out of literally. They put a towel over his head & he freaked out & peed on the floor & maybe them (ha! I'm not saying they deserved it, but they kinda did). Just for shots! My boy wasn't having it & we weren't happy with them either. Our 3 other kitties were fine. I've been on that med & I think 100mg is a lot for him at 13 lbs (plus, I know people that have had bad reactions to it & he's my baby, even at 10 yo), so I got rid of the pills. We'll take him elsewhere next time. Maybe my boyfriend can hold him while they do the shots. He's good at keeping them calm for nail trims & such. I'm a bag of nerves at the vet with them. Does that sound like too much to any vets or vet techs here? 100mg capsule gabapentin for a 13 lb male neutered cat to clarify. I have no idea HOW I was going to get the med in him either. He's feisty & picky.

    • @destinyphillips5110
      @destinyphillips5110 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@sarawhite9338 aw I’m sorry you had that experience! We sometimes put a towel over the kitties head if we feel like they are super super stressed so I’m sorry that didn’t work out for your baby. Maybe he could be in a kitty burrito next time? Some kitties find that comforting. For the gab, 1 capsule is in his weight range. It’s suppose to help chill him out and keep him calm but if you are concerned, I’d definitely let your vet know. As far as you or your boyfriend holding, that’s a liability issue. Not saying your baby would ever bite, but if he did and you two got hurt or anything the clinic could be liable. I would definitely talk to your vet about other calming measures such as Feliway and such. Hope that helps.

      I agree with you! Fellow RVT here. I sing the praises of apoquel and cytopoint it’s helped so many pets even mine (I got a itchy baby who break out a lot) and other thing you can look into is feeding him a sensitive skin and stomach diet (I personally love purine pro plans salmon version due to the added bonus of omega 3 fatty acids) or you can talk to your vet about placing him on a special prescription diet like royal canine’s hydrolyzed protein or hills science diet z/d formula !

    Having worked as a tech in a vet clinic for several years, I can reassure you that the bruise was instantly recognizable as something that does sometimes happen during blood draws. It looks awful, but it sometimes happens especially if the pet is really fighting the blood draw.

    • @hailyjohnson407
      @hailyjohnson407 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My dog is what the vet techs affectionately call "squirmy" and so he had a blood draw one time and they brought him back in the patient room to me, and about a minute layer, I realized I had blood on my hand and sleeve. He must have been very squirmy when they drew his blood and it caused him to bleed more than expected from his lower neck/upper chest area. I walked out into the hallway and said "hey, uhhh, no big deal but can I get some paper towel or something in here? He's still bleeding." And they apologized and explained that he was fine for the initial poke, but he was dehydrated some and they had to stick him a second time to get enough blood for the test, and he did not do as well with the second one once the needle was in place he wouldn't sit still. The vet tech helped me clean him up and had me hold some compression on it for a few minutes to make sure it had stopped, and it already had. My little man is stubborn though 😂

    I crochet! 2 things to note: 1 the leftover strings you sew in. You need a Darning Needle for that! And 2 your granny square probably came undone because you trimmed your string too short. Sew it in and trim off some extra. 😊 I've actually never done a granny square before, but there are some great tutorials online for making other things. Making theblittle critters is actually kind of easy. You should just look up how to make magic circles, slip stitches, single crochet, and of course chaining (which some of those you probably already do for granny squares!) The biggest thing with making the critters is to make sure your stitches are tight otherwise you'll see the stuffing through it! I would love to see any other crocheting you do!

    Hey, Alexandria!
    My fiancé and I have a allergy prone, very itchy fur baby [pug]. One thing that helped her for a while is Apoquel [doggy allergy med]. We also had her on hydrolyzed protein dog food [the protein molecules are too small to cause allergies like most standard dog food] which didn't help her much, but could maybe help you? And that spot on his side reminds me of when our pup had a stint of Demodectic mange. It's non contagious! It's just a reaction to mites that are naturally found on the body [both dogs and humans, actually!], usually when the immune system is weak. It typically impacts puppies, but can hit older dogs if their immune system is bad. I'm not sure if these are things you've tried/heard about, but figured I would comment in hopes of providing something helpful. Hope Tater feels better soon! I love showing the boys to my fiancé whenever I watch your videos and they're in the background.

    Omg girl, your squares are precious!!! I have been crocheting for 15 or so years. It takes a lot of practice and patience but you got it!!! I recommend making dish clothes when you're first starting. Just make sure you get 100% cotton yarn! And just Clip off the little string in the center, or weave it into the finished piece

    I have very sensitive and very dry skin. On my face, I use vichy's 89 Hyaluronic acid. You put that on your face after a shower when it feels tight and it works wonders. I follow it up with cerave moisturizing cream and honestly my skin as never felt better! For my body, i use la roche posay lipikar body moisturizer and body cream wash and my skin is so soft. I also use it on my 4 year old that also dry skin.
    I have IBS and going gluten free has helped me a lot with my gut issues. Limiting my dairy intake has also helped a lot. Hope these suggestions help! 🙂

    As a vet assistant / wildlife rescuer and a vet med student, that bruise on Tater is most definitely from the blood draw. It's a super sensitive area, but common for blood draw -especially when the animal is as you put it, a little rambunctious, the legs especially the hindleg are near impossible to access. Also the bigger gauge of needle can also cause bruising but are necessary for some areas of the body. I hope you both perk up a little bit, soon!!! Sending you all, all of my love! ❤

    I'm so sorry about Tator. I'm glad he's doing better!! With your stomach issues, I wonder if you should ask your new doctor about IBS. I was diagnosed with it back in October and like you i can pretty much only eat meat and rooted vegetables without being in pain and getting sick. Turns out I can blame the IBS for the Frictose, lactose, and gluten intolerance. I hope you feel better soon!!

    My dog uses those two medications for stressful situations ( we got it so we can try to board him as we haven’t been on a vacation in the 5 years we’ve had him . We gave it to him a couple times at home to make sure he will be ok with it. Just a heads up per our first experience vs the second, the first time he took it he slept like 15 hours and we had to wake him to walk. But the second time he was much more himself, chilled out but wandering about as normal.

    whenever my skin gets like this my dermatologist tells me stop using all makeup. Last time I had to stop putting makeup on for almost a month (but it helped my skin heal (because Everytime you put makeup on when ur skins reaction like this it’s only making ur skin worse & worse & will only prolong the process) but I stoped makeup for almost a month, & did a very minimal skincare, just a gentle face wash & moisturizer, my dermatologist told me when ur skins like this you have to just stop makeup & do very minimal skincare basically limit how much stuff ur putting on ur face so ur skin can heal, also if it gets worse they might give you a prescription cream (that’s helped me in the past also) but definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist cuz they can help

    Oh! I'm so excited to see you're learning to crochet. Your granny squares look so cute!! Go buy a darning needle (or several - they disappear). They are larger needles that have a big eye and blunt tip and you can use that to weave the ends into the middle of the stitches to hide them. Look up a video about weaving in ends. You can use your first little pieces to put under plants to catch any drips. Keep going! I can't wait to see what else you make.

    As a registered dietitian in Canada, I can tell you that if you have a gluten intolerance, going gluten free is the best thing you can do. After a few weeks you should start to see less bloating and general inflammation, so weight might slightly decrease. You might also experience less headaches. Celiac Canada has some great resources for identifying hidden sources of gluten, which would also be applicable to foods in the USA. Generally unexplained weight gain is a sign of thyroid issues. Thyroid issues can also contribute to hair loss. Ask to have your TSH, T4, and T3 checked to look at thyroid function. It is also not uncommon for results to come back normal, you might need to advocate for continued testing every few months to actually establish issues.

    I hope you and Tater get to feel better soon. You might want to try some plain baking soda in the bath it helps to soften the water and helps ease rashes I do it for mine. Also you might ant to also look at foreclosed homes you can often get a good deal. I hope you find what works for you and Tater and that you find the place you can call home.

    Poor Tater! My cairn terrier started going bald in patches and gaining weight, we thought it might have been caused by allergies since our lab had allergies, but after Benadryl didn’t help her we finally had her thyroid tested and her levels were way off. Two pills a day and she was back to her old self!

    As someone with enormously sensitive skin; CereVe burns sensitive skin, when my skin is throwing a tantrum the only thing I can use is the Kate Somerville DeliKate. It's expensive, but worth it for me since even most sensitive non-irritating moisturizers sometimes burn.

    Love the "just chatting" video - very sorry to hear about all the itchy skin issues. I have problems with my face skin being both flaky and yet covered with "oil scabs" no matter how often or carefully I wash my face and often putting on moisturizers stings like a bee (wearing makeup has been near-impossible for me most of my life, except for my eyes). I have recently found that castor oil (specifically hexane-free and cold-pressed) has been making a huge difference and without the stinging. Would highly recommend trying that natural remedy, but of course talk to your derm with any concerns first. My mom has similar "allergic to every (food) thing" too, gluten especially, so I can empathize completely with the struggle that makes. Crocheting is a good hobby to start! Granny squares are probably the only thing I've never made when I used to crochet, lol.

Half a$$ed renovation, unnecessary modernization, gutted things and then ran out of money half way through. The housing market is absolutely terrible.

    Out of curiosity, what brand of food does Tater eat? As a retired Vet Tech I will say one area the Veterinary world is lacking would be food education. I can't tell you how many times I have heard a Dr say "Oh that kibble is fine." The regulations for dog food is severely lacking. We just acquired a dog that had been found on the side of the interstate as such I did a deep dive into dog food and nutrition. I have gone with Open Farm brand. They have everything from freeze dried raw to gently cooked with a large variety of proteins. Their food is Human Grade and traceable, not ill animals butchered and put into dog food. My dogs skin and haircoat have improved dramatically. He literally drools as I prepare his bowl.

    Allergy testing is interesting. Both my girl and boy got tested and it was such a help for her! We found out she's allergic trees and ragweed which is why she broke out BAD in spring and fall. She's on special shots now and they work wonders. No breakout this past fall. My boy is allergic to cats so hopefully we never find out how he reacts. As for the crocheting it's fun and infuriating at the same time. I can't make granny squares but I can make you a hat, scarf, blanket, headband or shawl!

    Hey hon you may want to get checked for Psoriatic Arthritis. It took several years for me to be diagnosed. A lot of what your describing is symptoms of it. Try cutting out sugar. Sugar can cause inflammation you won’t believe how much better you feel once you get past the sugar withdrawals.
