Am I the only one who liked Spyder? It was the first MB film that I saw, and I wasn't an particular fan of Telegu cinema. But overall it was a good film, I understand the point about SJ Suriya overshadowing the film, but I feel you need to have a strong villain for a good action film.

Gaining fans with super hit films is normal, but gaining fans and love even for his flop movies is something unreal which could only be possible with Superstars like MAHESH BABU....He became the face of Tollywood even before 2010 when many current top actors struggling to score consistent blockbusters at that time in tollywood

2) businessman: anti hero
3)SVSC:Family drama(multi starrer)
4)1 nenokkadine: psychological thriller.

Hero's are doing experiments these days. Mahesh did experiments and took risks two decades back only. Genuine telugu audience is really proud of Mahesh Babu.
He was always leagues ahead his contemporaries. His filmography redeemed authenticity, charm and ambition. He held his craft higher without any audacity to confined boundaries, intact he is the only star to gain equal acceptance among the audience irrespective of genre of film articulating his unprecedented mark through his earlier films.
The fact that still he as an actor isn't accomplished much is a testament to his untapped potential. Hope he is in redemption.
I know some people trolling Mahesh Babu for his acting limitations. As am from Kerala i admire Mahesh Babu than any other malayali young actor. He is the man with best script selection in Tollywood. When telugu cinema was giving pathetic hits, he had done movies like, Athadu, okkadu, Nani, khaleja, pokiri, one etc

Mahesh stopped experimenting. It is not his fault I think it's the audience's fault that who did not accept the movies like 1 NENOKKADINE. The stakes are so high he can't risk his buyers with his experimental movies now but after #SSMB29, the game will change for him. He will come into a PAN INDIAN league. Again we can expect an STORY conscious Mahesh.

No nothing like that. He shows emotion in a subtle way. Recently I've seen a video in which his own daughter sits in his lap and cries, for that he will feel bad and i can understand his emotions through his reaction. He does same thing in movie also. He puts his fullest effort. I personally understand his emotions because i too don't make a scene for some emotions but feel good or bad within and show it subtle way.
Spider was a such a good film... The villan the story...I was hooked...it's so sad that people don't have good taste for movies...

Before Spyder, Mahesh delivered gems like Athadu, Khaleja, and 1 Nenokkadine, but for such content Telugu audiences were only not prepared and his own mass fans didn't support his experimental films. They only made illogical action movies a hit, pushing him towards projects like Sarileru Neekevvaru, Maharshi, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Guntur Karam.. these movies are so basic, pretty sure even Mahesh knows their gravitas, as a fan I hated these movies.
I believe he deliberately shifted gears, knowing he'd collaborate with SS Rajamouli anyway, so let's just make a sect of fans happy till then. Once that's done, Mahesh will definitely return to his old gig, the OG experimenter!

I see this is completely contrasting to my opinion as a Tamil viewer, for someone who have seen his movies dubbed or the original, they felt like they have almost the same story, hero can do anything, except for a few like Seethamma Vatiklo. His attitude or approach to different situations in movies was so similar. But Telugu cinema being carried away by pan-india quest, I do miss the local, made for us movies.
Telugu has something else for tamil.

You have to see his movies before Aagadu (2014). He is a beast and his dialogue delivery is next to none. He carries movie with minimum effort and great screen presence. That doesn't mean he doesn't prefer heavy roles but we only got to see that side rarely in some movies. For example, his earlier movies Yuvaraju and Murari had more emotional moments until again 1 Nenokkadine. In Dookudu entire movie is a comedy but there is one scene in the end between PrakashRaj and Mahesh babu which will pierce your heart after laughing throughout the movie. This example is to say how easily he can emote. Sure, he doesn't have the build for rustic movies but he is soo good at what he does. Just 5-6 movies he chose template movies with minimum effort on acting and dancing and still managed to score blockbusters. Mahesh Babu also had to take long breaks in his career which is also a reason for his low movie count and still managed to create big impact on Telugu Cinema.
He just stopped experimental movies but i still love his recent movies with messages

MB is a star boxed in by his own fans. Even Guntur Kaaram underperformed because his fans have him in the smallest box possible. He is a formiddable talent and its really unfortunate . I loved how much energy he put into GK. Waiting for SSMB collab.
Spyder was an interesting premise but it blended too many unnecessary elements with the old ladies, and over the top climax. We as a tamil audience should have been proud to welcome MB into Tamil Cinema as well - I mean he dubbed so well for himself and ofcourse he looks like a dream.
1 Neno - Tollywood audience failed such a fantastic and nuanced movie by Sukumaran. I mean if this movie released in Malayalam it would be talked about as an all time classic. We place a lot of emphasis on box office numbers and while that is good its unfortunate that stardom hinges on this.
Brahmotsavam - also something he tried. But his own fans rejected this because they did not want to see him in a SRK type avatar.
As a fan I can proudly say we always recognized Mahesh babu's potential. We always dream to see him in different characters he has not done yet. Every Mahesh fan wants to see him in James Bond type role. I personally think Mahesh would do so good in feel-good romantic love stories. The problem was the movies you mentioned lacked in execution. I agree 1 nenokkadine is a great attempt in Indian cinema but for many it would feel like dumbed down Thriller movie. Not the fault of director if he thought everyone should understand the film. It was just ahead of it's time. Brahmotsavam has a cool concept for a family movie but execution was very bad. Coming to Spyder Mahesh fans felt they didn't get to see their star in full potential for such a high budget movie. Guntur Kaaram has the same old template of director Trivikram with messy screenplay, lackluster BGM and faulty promotions made it even worse but still managed to be one of the highest collecting regional movie. Fans were always with him and Mahesh sir acknowledges that we are his best critics. I don't mean to put your opinion down but this is my take on his movies and career. But thank you for loving our Super Star so much.

What's so wrong with messages?? Srimanthudu, Bharath Ane Nenu and Maharshi are awesome movies and are hits. First half of Sarkaruvari paata is fun too. Parasuram failed in the second half. The only cringe was from Anil Ravipudi, who tends to go overboard without a story. Gunturu Kaaram has good content except the makers rushed to release an unfinished product. One can blame Mahesh Babu for being too obedient to the directors' vision without gauging the results.
Finally a comment I agree with! Yes there’s nothing wrong with messages in movies.. also it’s was just those 3. What world message did sarkaruvaari paata or sarileru nikkevvaru or Guntur karam have? Even after he stops doing the template after 3 films, they say he has a template. His body language and characters are completely different in all 3 movies too.. I wish the makers got blamed for Guntur karam as much as mahesh babu is getting blamed. His effort shows and he was truly a delight to watch even if the direction and screenplay was so mediocre.

I watched Spyder in theatres and TBH i really loved the movie. It was such a thrilling experience for me that i felt finally Mahesh Babu tried something new. Well there are some sequences which weren't so appealing but still i loved it. SJ Surya as Bairava was terrific man ! He was such a strong psychotic villain. The points that you told was also true. The second half was really too much for that storyline. Well SS Rajamouli is the only director we can blindly trust as his ideas never fail to relate with audience.
