I'm 67 and love Science fiction. I'm absolutely blown away by the psychological complexity, narrative perfection and beauty of this 'short'. And the music and lyrics! There are indeed modern classics! Worthy of awe. Thank you!
@michaelholland5774 Wow! It seems like you have long journey into the sci-fi universe. Can you recommend your MOST favourite sci-fi books? I am currently reading Greg Igan 'Distress' - it is so complex to me but soooo interesting. It also blows my mind how such authors could predict tech advances which appear to be reality nowadays. So I would really appreciate recommendations! Thank you!
The sad thing is that after she make him sleep again, when Greta come and see him, you can see her face like she is about to cry. Thats because she wanted to make their dead in a good way because there was nothing she can do for them but she saw how he afraid of her. So she felt heartbroken.
The idea - slowly dying th in deep space, far away from Earth, and so far from your family and friends, when all whom u knew are dead, some alien creture give u a chance to die with love...so darkly beautiful! Soundtrack is really cool!
Still sadder))) Your life means nothing. That is, it doesn’t matter whether you are happy or not. Your happiness or suffering is the result of random events that you are not able to influence. Or perhaps we already live in a world created by someone else...
My favorite episode. I wish it was longer, or it had a sequel, or it was a full-blown movie. My theory is their situation is kinda hopeless and they are going to die anyway, so this creature that "cares for lost souls" is trying to at least make their minds happy while their bodies are dying.
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 i don't get how the girl in the other pod was dead the whole time when they show her getting up, suspecting something is wrong and cutting the creature.
@@stormbox4286 the whole thing was in his head, so no she didn't get up or cut her. It was just a clever mind trick that helped him figure out what he was already suspecting subconsciously
I just understood the symbolic meaning of having a statue of the Virgin Mary cradling baby Jesus in its arms floating around, when the red lights are flashing: something that the camera seems to give a huge amount of screentime given how short the episode is. If there was ever any doubt in my mind to whether Greta's intentions were benevolent or malevolent, there is no more. The story all but gives you the answer, so you cannot escape facing the cosmic-level tragedy of it's message by telling yourself she is just a predatorial abomination, and then use that to look the other way. This story, about despair and hopelessness, compassion, loneliness and the desire of connection, is amongst the most powerful pieces of art I've ever had the chance to experience.
2:36 it can be seen that the tears will come out of those eyes very soon, and they are from pain, the feeling is so strong that it even manifests itself in the avatar that she uses in the simulation for Tom, uff what sadness it gives, from that gaze of pain it can be deduced that she lives that feeling in the same way as we do, so it can be said that she has an emotional intelligence that rivals ours, which makes "Greta" even more impressive and interesting than she seems. Note:put it in speed 0.25.
This episode was so hauntingly beautiful and depressing, that alien who's lived for who knows how long, lonely and starving for any form of love, simulating these experiences for the lost souls so it can interact lovingly with them while (in a twisted matrix sort of way) protecting them from the pain of reality. And to then reveal the truth, and be rejected for it, heartbreaking 💔 This Episode. The Very Pulse of The Machine. Jibaro. Pop Squad. Absolute masterpieces ❤️ Mason's Rats was Comedy Gold too!😂☠️

id like to believe that if i was in that situation that i would try to be more understanding of greta. throughout all of this she had never once shown herself as an enemy or a danger. she gave thom love, patience, and even after he blatantly rejected her true form she still did all she could to give him peace... i know the appearance is frightening but shes done nothing but make him happy

I will never break the silence = you will always be a monster. The paradox of our circumstances. One meets their destiny on the road they take to avoid it. Heartbreaking as this song is, it's an inevitable reality. You are what you are. Give all, take all. Live as you are, embrace the chaos.
Hahaha that's sums it up pretty well. The nitty-gritty of it all would probably dilute the substance that makes this evoke so many emotions that we each experience based on what we assume to be happening. Horror for some, sadness for others but mysterious to all.
It's not the truth that matters, we all know the man (I've forgot his name) would never get to see his home nor his crewmates again, just be with the spider-ish creature for all eternity, under the face of a woman he once knew.
Could it be possible that if the creature was able to read minds,it knew where the food rations were on the ship, it used the food on board of the ships to feed the lost people and itself until the food ran out? It kept them in a dream to let them die peacefully.
He didn’t realise it wasn’t Greta in the second time because she renovated his short memory. @@Tj11714 oh , verstanden XD I suggest she wasn’t a real copilot… maybe she just played role of logic part of Tom’s mind , because he remembered her as sceptical , Not particularly trusting person? Maybe she couldn't maintain the illusion forever, maybe she (or Tom) was running out of strength and Greta wanted to see if Tom could take on her real form?
