Careful Jordan, when I was about Sadie's age, my grandfather promised me we could go to Missouri, then he went to take a nap. While he was sleeping, I "packed" dumping all kinds of supplies and things into the floor. When he woke up and my grandmother came home....boy did he catch it. LOL I do think about that though each time I drive into MO, and whisper to myself grandpa, I made it to 'souri. Someday, maybe Sadie will make it to China and remember the day you said you'd dig your way there.

“If we dig we will eventually dig to China”.🤣🤣🤣🤣 While back I worked at the University of WI child care center. Many Asian families live in UW family student housing. So cute, I told a Chinese co worker that Motra American’s say, when we dig deep holes. Especially in childhood sandboxes. She laughed. Her husband was enrolled in UW graduate program. We hired this gal as a student assistant teacher. So, when I told her all American’s say “you’re digging a hole to China”. You’re going to love to hear what the kids are taught and what they say when they dig deep deep holes. It’s beautiful and you’re going to love it. In China, the jump in the deep holes, stomping it down. They say “wake up America! Wake up America,” isn’t that adorable.?

Jordan, you gotta Cut that sugar out man and start loading up on the Beef, Chicken & eggs for Protein! You'll have far better recovery, pack on some muscle for free while working and feel a whole lot better! No crashing energy levels or carcinogenic effects of the sugar, just smoothed out constant energy and less cravings! (If you Cook up some meatballs or burgers in the evening to have them cold ready to eat when you need a snack you won't reach for the sugar!)

I wonder if the rainy season is going to affect those holes. Maybe you could start making the rebar to go into them, and then pour the concrete into them one at a time, as the digging continues. You don't really need to do all the digging, then add all the rebar (about 70 kg per cubic meter), then pour all the concrete you know. All that you have complete could just sit there curing during the rainy season. Then continue after it's over. Dry season is only got about 5 months long
The cool thing about building with steel is you can paint it with rust resistant paint as you build, so it's unaffected by rain or mist. You can just grind off the paint from your weld spots as you add vertical beams. After you build the entire steel frame, you can roof it and add a few tarps, so you can work on the inside out of the rain.

I was a builder for 41 years. Questions for you. Have you considered how you will place the concrete? Will you be using a concrete pump or mix it for each hole? Given the amount of rain you get, will rain collect in your footings or will it dissipate into the ground? It appears that you’re placing your building in the lower part of your property. Have you considered how you will collect water as it flows across the grade to prevent it from flowing under the house to protect your footings? When I started I had no idea how to set up a site to prevent creating issues as I built. I am happy to be of any help you may need. Feel free to reach out to me.
I gave my sons samples of your coffee at Christmas a couple of years ago. When we were visiting last weekend I was happy to learn that Chris my youngest is still ordering coffee from you! If the ground is naturally wet like a bog or swamp, don't dig a hole and make a lake! Build it up to the sky and build above the water. Nothing worse than a sogging garage! Remember you don't drill a hole in a boat to let the water out. Don't do the same and build your house in a swamp. But you can build above a swamp with no problems. Hint: Plan for rainfall runoff times 10X ie handle all floods!

I have always said that diging ditches / dirt / holes is THE hardest work around! Digging is exhausting!

I don’t know if you will ever actually read this but…. There is a book called “Holes”. I live in Canada and was a teacher, retired now. This book is often taught in junior high school. The process you’re going through reminds me so much of that book! The video of the holes and the piles of dirt is exactly right. It’s a good book though with a totally different premise. They aren’t building a house.

One of those drone shots of the digging reminded me of the movie 'Holes'!

Wow, those footings are huge, and that is a lot of digging! Sadie has the right idea about flying instead of digging to China!! 🤣. So glad Teddy is doing better….that was scary. You are all so enthusiastic about whatever you do. It is wonderful that you are hiring local workers to help you. Nice, too, that you gave your long time worker a raise and a promotion. Cute Teddy playing Supervisor! You sure do get a lot of rainbows…..good karma!! Love from Pennsylvania💕🌷🐻
