I found a masport lawn marshal today during a rubbish throw out I typed this in on you tube and viola I found a great channel Thanks for the information , you explained the operation of this mower in commonsense which is getting rarer Great channel junkyard 👌
love the work on the good old Masport Made in New Zealand Lawn Mowers there Joe Carroll mate i have one made in the year 2004 and made on April 29th and it,s a Masport President 1000 and gave to me by a good friend of mine as they went for Cordless instead
Quick and easy. Looks like monster Kikuyu you pushed it through. Can't ask for much more from a little mower. Looking forward to the next fix-ups. I consider GC motors almost throw away if anything too serious has gone. Keep it up, keen to see what you do.
Both of those gcv's are healthy, one has a crack in the fuel tank which I'll need to track down another one. the kikuyu out the back is thick as in that patch.
Masport are odd in that the wave washer is placed under the head of the bolt, unlike Rover and other brands...I thought this was incorrect too until I checked new Masports and the assembly diagrams of all Masports I've worked on. It certainly is counter-intuitive and possibly causes wear on blade carriers.
Hey man when are we going to see another feature from you? I really enjoyed seeing all the little things getting sorted adding up to a vastly improved unit with a life extension.
I recently picked up one just like this with the alloy chassis and slightly earlier engine. Runs and cuts well, but all wheels have serious wobble. I take it I will have to destroy the wheel retaining clips to get the wheels off? It's my first Masport chassis, so not sure about the wheels.
JG'day junkyarddog87 Just watched your Masport 450 video. It's good to watch something very familiar. However my unit developed a problem of no spark after operating beautifully. I tore out a coil identical from a spare 450 motor that passed a spark test and installed it on the mower with no spark. I also checked the cut off switch and wire that looked okay. But still no spark. I had a look at the head gasket and it looks great. What would you look at next please?
Love the vids mate, very informative! Help me, I have a Masport Morrison, same motor has the Mssport shown here! Runs, but blows oil/smoke out the muffler.... Hasn't be tipped, whats the likely cause?
