@Watchdog, especially every line said by Karen and Jack, as in "Karen & Jack," the title this series was supposed to have originally, AND during the reboot.
I DON'T even know where to start with scene. That kiss, that "couple", Karen's captive audience hanging on every word wanting MORE, & that ending! This clip was so clever and witty ALL I could do was applaud and hope they won an Emmy just on this clip alone! 👏👏👏
NPH hasn't officially come out yet during that season. That's what makes this so much more fun, funny and subversive. And it's all in the writing and delivery.
Rosie O'D did the exact same thing around the same time. She wasn't out though it was an open secret, and she played a closeted lesbian on W and G before formally coming out publicly soon afterwards
Oh i didn’t know that. I really wondered why in This version of the clip Neil Patrick Harris’ last line was cut out…. - where he - as a response to Jacks question about the two of them soaping one another down in the shows - say “- AS LONG AS IT’S A HETEROSEXUAL SOAP DOWN” - revealing that his role really IS gay after all…
If someone wanted to showcase the show's humor, this is the scene that I find best describes the heart and soul of Will & Grace and why it was one of the best sitcoms of the 90s. Witty one-liners, physical comedy, great performances. I mean, every line in this scene is comedy gold.
@@AlexCole09 I guess it's when it starts? I just think it's weird that they would call it the "LGBT prolific show of the late 1990's," when episode 10, of season two aired on January 11, 2000, last episode of season 8 aired on May 18, 2006, then reboot was in the 2010's.
I always admired how Karen and Jack embraced the kissing - goodness how they managed it without falling about laughing was delightful. Also of course because they had such a close bond they could do and say the most outrageous things to each other - who can forget the number of times they slapped or spanked each other and the infamous denied/ approved card sequence.

my favourite parts of each episode of W&G were always those where there were Jack & Karen together. of course Will and Grace were funny too, but the show would not be half as hilarious as it was if it wasnt for Hayes & Mullally
The reason is because the director, James Burrows, felt it justified Jack’s sexual escapades. At the start of the second season, the creators dressed Jack in all Prada, but they felt it made him seem trashy. Burrows felt the sweater and shoes made him innocent and childlike. This justified who he was. This is from Warren Littlefield’s book, Top of the Rock which talks about the making of several NBC Shows.
There was always fashionable clothes even back then. But Jacks wardrobe is awfully boring. For such an out queen his clothing never reflected him. It's called the preppy ivy league look. There are lesbians that also adapt this fashion style. Khakis, checked shirts and crew sweaters. I personally would never wear it.
First, as if I ever needed to be reminded of the comedic gold that IS Neil Patrick Harris, I was thoroughly reminded. And I love the irony of an openly Gay actor portraying a "converted" gay to straight man. Second, this clip also reminds me why this series was supposed to be called "Karen & Jack" the first time, and during the reboot, too.
@@greenbrown7776 I respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree. Please understand, I know that both Debra Messing and Eric McCormack are very, VERY talented actors. However, the show really needed to be named "Karen and Jack." From the beginning!
@@bkynbiker19 Yes, that is correct. Perhaps I mis-wrote. As someone who used to watch "Doogie Howser, M. D.," I knew that it was not until later when Neil Patrick Harris came out of the closet. Nonetheless, the irony is there: THE Neil Patrick Harris, who was a guest star on a show that featured two openly Gay male characters (one of them portrayed by a Gay male actor), and was not exactly no longer Gay himself in the episode. And, eventually came out as Gay. The intricacies and the comedy are so there.
Of course I have to watch this a couple times I can't stop laughing and there's more to the show! Before and after the scenes this is a riot I'm so glad I stumbled onto this old footage pretty wild hahaha
5:45 When he said 'righteousness' I for some reason suddenly thought of John Waters (out and proud gay director known as the King of Camp, the Prince of Puke and the Pope of Trash who is also a Catholic) commented that he, as a Catholic, feels that Catholocism is a very gay religion. As he put it "What other kind of people think it's normal to kneel in front of a naked guy nailed to a cross?" Will and Grace predicted so many closeted gay actors before they even they came out to the public: NPH, Ricky Martin, and Rosie O’Donnell .
