    Loved the video!
What's really interesting is that over the past 20 years I have had two Whirlpool and one Samsung front load washers.
All three failed in the exact same way with the spider pulley beginning to disintegrate and then leaking from the bearings in the rear and the bellows in the front.
I also had the unfortunate Samsung refrigerator with the notorious ice maker.
The refrigerator was fine, The ice maker was not, they replaced it twice and it never worked correctly, ever.
What's scary is that I have had an LG front load washer, one of their more reliable models, for 6 years and we have had an LG counter depth French door refrigerator for longer than that.
    Both appliances are performing perfectly.
I think I got lucky with the refrigerator because I had read someplace or heard that the counter depth French door LG'S did not have the same model of compressor as the more problematic units even though it's still use a inverter compressor.
    Fingers crossed!
As far as the washer machine, after the three failures in the space of 12 to 13 years when I bought the LG I shifted gears heavily.
Abandoned liquid detergent and fabric softener completely as they are known contributors to failure in washing machines.
Now I use only powder detergent and I'm very careful about dosage not being too high, I also use vinegar for softener.
Religiously use the cleaning cycle at least once a month or more if I do a lot of heavy laundry.
Check the drain trap once a month to ensure nothing is getting clogged to damage the drain pump.
I keep the door unlatched so I can get air and the detergent dispenser pulled out slightly so it can air out as well.
Overall the machine seems to be functioning and looks as good as it did when I bought it.
I am hoping to get 10 to 15 years out of the unit before it needs replacement!
    Now for the big experiment.
Our electric dryer just recently began to go out so I did a lot of research.
After watching some of your videos and videos on other appliance TH-camrs channels I decided to pull the trigger on the new LG heat pump dryer that came out this year.
As far as the dryer's functioning, I could not be happier it is an amazing machine.
I feel I'm up to the task of being almost fanatical about maintenance on this machine.
Always clean the lint trap, both of them, every time I do a load and I wipe the interior of the drum as well as run a condenser cleaning cycle about every 10 loads.
So far I have been impressed with the lint system and condenser coil cleaning system.
I've had the machine now for a couple of months and probably ran about 50 loads through it and there is no lint whatsoever on the coils which can be accessed through the front to the right of the machine.
I feel like I will do my very diligent best to keep the heat pump dryer for as long as I possibly can especially since it's very expensive compared to a standard electric dryer.
It's really is a superior machine and I don't mind the longer drying times because the advantages far outweigh that one negative.
It's super energy efficient, gentler on clothes, and you don't have to have the vent to the outside to get clogged and need!
I believe it is a way to the future!

Thank you for this post. I have an LG fridge and just ordered an LG dishwasher. I was worried after seeing the dishwasher’s 3.8/5 rating on their website. Your service rating makes me cautiously optimistic. While the fridge’s ice maker required replacement($140), the compressor works fine so far. The trays and doors seem a bit delicate for a family but that seems to be universal these days.

How did Sub Zero, Wolf and Miele do last year? I'm surprised to see Gaggenau, but not those other luxury brands.

Nice video, Steve … 😅 your videos are always professional and informative….
Those are some interesting statistics… I agree GE has a pretty solid product line… And Speed Queen is definitely not as reliable as people think… (And their service manuals are poorly written ) I know Samsung somehow has “ good rating…”
I just can’t help but notice how thin the metal is on their products… and, as you said, the refrigerator seem to be a problematic as well as their dryers…😅… Happy new year😅 I look forward to following along with you and Yale Appliance in 2025

Thanks, great video, really appreciate sharing this info. I'm curious where Wolf/Sub Zero land on this list beyond these, I guess some of the biggest premium brands have lower reliability?

I think people expect more and there are more service calls that are education.

After watching many of your videos, this one prompts a purchasing question: do you think buying a package is better or individual appliances? Example: I like the Thermador Freedom cooktop, would you match it with the Wolf (or was it Melie) wall ovens and Bosch dishwasher...or just get the Thermador with the upgraded dishwasher.

I like side by side refrigerators yet everyone I know that has owned one in the last 5 years has had nothing but problems, have they improved the compressors? Is this based on only one year? I know the LG refrigerators seem to go out in about 3 years. LG Laundry is outstanding though.

Yes...premium has more minor service and education calls

My refrigerator just died. It is two years old. I asked the repair man what brand of refrigerator he would recommend and he said they all suck right now. And that’s because they’re all basically using the same compressor and that compressor is a cheap piece of crap. He says he is repairing all different kinds of refrigerators right now 95% of them are because of the compressors and the brand does not even matter.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Really? Compressors arent the main problem. In fact the maligned LG is only replace 1.1% of the time according to our service stats and many are lower than that.
Ice dispensers are the main issue

You are actually one of many. I am not a fan at all of that brand...and we only sell their laundry. Their product is generally reliable, but their service is lamentable.
They just fired their service manager which is a good start
