I went to this with my Father when I was 14. To this day my Father says this is the best game he has ever seen live. The Posh had a really good side that year (finished 10th) but Newcastle were a different class that year.
That is the Moyes End stand, always a good atmosphere when it was packed to the rafters. Forest and Leicester brought big followings too, Geordies made the most noise though.
Moyes End was torn down a couple of years ago for a shiney seated stand, it broke my heart when I heard they were getting rid of it.
    Respect from the Posh ☺

One of a fair few chants which you rarely hear now, home or away. Shame.

Leeds fans stopped chanting "United" like that in the early 1990's as we hated the fact that scum also chanted "United" and we didn't want to souind like them... but I didn't agree, United belongs to us, and you, and Southend, and Sheffield etc. etc.!

Some class Toon chants from the 80’s wish they would bring them back(late79’s early 80’s Skinhead), then I joined the Paras..

was there that day the hottest day av ever sampled at a match....travelled home on the most packed train ever....in my top 10 of away days....support then and even before in the 80s was differant gravy to the new batch of supporter whos memorys only go far back as the entertainers....my memorys go back to my 1st game in 82 keegans debut....with promotion in 83 84 since keegans return as manager promotion it was shite inbetween....1st division relegation sack the board demos constantly and selling of players....home crowds of 15 to 20 thousand etc etc etc....when i was 12 and went to my 1st game keegans debut me father said to me cos he was a newcastle fan "son be prepared cos as long as you follow newcastle all youll get is heartache and disappointment....and he was correct but being a newcastle fan is differant to being a fan of anyother club....unless ya a fan of newcastle nobody understands...proudness and loyalty....

I was there. Sat in the middle of the main (home supporters) stand...surrounded by Newcastle fans. Place went metal when Sheedy scored. Our 7th win in our 7th game of the season.

Fantastic away day. Sure the reports at the time said there was about 11,000 travelled. I just remember the ground was packed with Newcastle fans on every side. I was behind the goal so got a great view of Sheedys' goal. Absolute bedlam, but what a feeling!

I missed out as, aged 14, I looked at the map and thought there was no way I was going near London! Then i learnt of kids my age doing the train with ease, in a few hours. Gutted I missed out. Footage like this is Golden.
Attended quite a few aways that season, but not this one. sadly.
