When Pete says, "do I need to set? Nah, I don't need to set!" Right after Green AND Orange just got done trying to ram their sausage into his Switzerland hole ❤
I’ve been in this scenario many times. Two more experienced players both realising that the other remaining player is a novice and therefore fight to the death between one another, allowing the novice to win. Tricky. It is so frustrating to watch a novice attack only what is in front of them with no intuition for the rest of the opponents.
It is ironic that taking good "end game" capitals in the middle of the board is actually bad vs low ranked players since they only know how to head smash whatever territory is next to them. Gg Pete not much you could do in the middle of those two noobs
Just got around to watching this video…I was orange 😭 Definitely going to rewatch to see what I should’ve done instead. Pete, if you see this, could you please explain why I shouldn’t have rolled your cap? On 9 troops it seemed like a decent shot. Would the better play have been to work with you to defeat green and then go 1 v 1? I think my hope was that green and I would eat you together and then I would go into the 1 v 1 controlling the east. Thanks for a great game! (And sorry I messed it up for you)
Realistically you had no way of knowing how terrible green was. And since we only know in retrospect if our decisions were good ones I would say despite me being pissy about it, that was probably the time to go bad to me. You won that game didn't you? Ggs man.
@@robertlowther4170 You're welcome! I have no idea why I thought not setting and opening his cap was the play. It was definitely not the play. I'm glad you won you definitely deserved it more.
On the second turn when black broke both you and orange using capital troops it looked like black reinforced to a different country than his capital. Could you have stolen the capital?
I genuinely dont think True Random is the better move over Balanced Blitz. I understand the frustration of Cap Dice defending "improperly" and probability issues with BB, but True Random in my opinion doesnt satisfy those small troop territory hits to compensate for the Capitol Attacking/Defending hits. A 10v1 without slider loses 8 for some reason, because its "True Random," but with BB at least you dictate the amount of troops you're dedicating to try and mitigate the troop loss. Just my two cents.
21 Minutes in Slam #1 Over half way in you get slammed, when are all these slams coming? 22 Minutes in Slam #2! 23 Minutes in sad for slam 3. 25 minutes in I did not know there were neighbor caps there until you showed me, One of those was black's was orange's the left one?
Like your stuff, but I find it funny when you profess “ poor quality play” against opponents who win in the end. Their strategy worked, whether you like it or not. Most of the time beginners are a little greedy and opportunistic, both traits I’ve seen you have just as often.
I’m not sure that saying green was awful when having Pete’s cap would greatly improve his position / reduce probability of being cardblocked is a good take. Especially after he was the one who opened up greens cap so that green had an even easier time taking it, and then still whining that green sucks
Risk is a game of probabilities, oftentimes when Pete calls a play “poor quality” or “dumb” he’s not saying it would never work, he’s saying it’s a strategy that is unlikely to work. You’ll notice that Pete wins like 80% of his games, (idk any exact number but it’s most of them), so he evidently uses strategies that have a higher probability of victory.

Not only did I defintitely need to set, there was no reason why I should have opened up the green cap
@@FreePete yeah i think you might have been fine not setting if you didnt open up green
I mean, it was an Alps/Switzerland cap so it is historically accurate

I think orange was good enough to win in the end. At least I hope so

I did open the green cap to me which was a fatal error.
@@FreePete I saw that. "Your anger betrayed your capital young Padawan" GG
Lmao the vicious mockery at orange right after they fail to take the 9 cap

I did end up winning. Btw, I’m a decently high expert because of your vids. Thanks for all the content you make!

Looking at the title, I think he may be right about that
The battle of St. Petersburg
I don't know how you missed the black cap earlier when he broke both of you and orange , the bot clearly left his cap 😢
This is why I always play neutral bot. Never reward bot out cowardice.
I'll try a little more neutral

Hilarious... whenever Pete loses (which is rarely) it's ALWAYS because the other players play so badly!
Oh man. You can imagine there may be one or two games where I screw up so bad it doesn't make it to TH-cam 🤣🤣🤣
