I’ll certainly try this fly on the next fishing trip! Thank you, Davie!
It's been a trend, tying on Jig Hooks for at least ten years now and probably some were doing it on a smaller scale prior to this.
It really makes sense to do them this way as we try and adapt hooks to patterns. Bead heads work so well this way, although I admit it was with some reluctance that I started tying with jig hooks. Like anything else, once you realize how well it works, you lose the reluctance quickly. Thanks Davie!!
Love these wee scruffies. Between these, the micro nymphs and the caddis pupa you really cant go wrong on the river.
Nice one Davie. Love simple nymphs.
Thise look great, and would catch many species! Thanks for sharing mr. McPhail.
Nice Davie. Thanx 4 sharing this video with us. Aloha🌴🎄🎣🕊
Great looking fly mate. The crappie and bluegill would modern that puppy. Thanks for sharing a great video. Best Regards, Ken
Very nice pattern. Made it. Still have a lot to learn, thank you.
That neon rib is eye popping;always think of gold, silver, copper etc, must give it a try. Thankyou, Davie.
Lovely flies Davie, thanks for showing it. Big Davie
Nice little euro nymph, great color combination too! I like the softness of the cdc hackle too
Lovely pattern!
Thanks for that one Davie.
You’re gonna ruin me with all these great flies, I keep on buying more and more materials 👍🏻😆
I was wondering if you could make a playlist and/or tie a few more seatrout patterns. I would really appreciate it 😁
perfect as always
Very nice that one Davie. Mind, all yours are nice! lol. Thank you for another one dude. Just wish we could get out more..... ☹️
Nice effective searching fly. I didn’t know Spirit River had that color in Diamond Brite. I use similar color named Dun UV in Hareline Brand. I include a couple in that color in friend’s fly orders and they think it’s blue😁. One hates blue flies too.
SUPER!
Magnifique 👍👏

Great fly. Can I ask what lighting and camera setup you use for the videos, trying a bit of filming myself.
Many thanks.
Hi Owen,
I use a Sony Ax100e camcorder on which I screw on to the lens a +2 filter which allows me to get a closeup shot of the fly, the lighting I use is a GVM LED Panel which I bought of amazon I also use a Daylight lamp which helps...I have attached links to them for you to see..

Hi Davie, very nice fly, i just finished tying a couple in natural brown, no where near as well done, but will see how i do with them. One question what super glue do you use, i fing that the brands here (canada) will not last or work as well they either get thick/gel like or dry out quickly. Thanks. Also did you get the info on the river ranger fly? i posted to instagram and facebook.
Hi Steve,
I used the Loctite Easy Brush Superglue. I'm glad you liked the fly and that you are going to give it a go as well as other colours, let me know how you get on...Could you send me the info on the river ranger..
All the very best Davie
Excellent looking nymph. I think I have all the materials on hand to give it a try. I'm currently fishing for dollaghan. Any particular nymph pattern you would recommend. Love the videos davie. Hope you are keeping well 👍
Hi Paul,
If I had to pick a nymph then I would fish a hare's ear or even the pheasant tail, tye a couple of the hare's ears with a red or an orange tail as this works well for me too...
All the very best Davie
Thanks Davey. I use both with good success but will try colour variations for improvements 👍
Why not use a slotted bead?
Hi Sean,
I've always used the normal beads rather than the slotted as I have a pile of the normal ones that I have bought over the years that I need to use up..
All the very best Davie
