      😂😂😂😂 Thank you. There is a back story about that having to do with being to drunk to find the boat in a crowded anchorage. 😂 CUOTO

    First time I boated through the canal was in a sailboat but much smaller than yours. Started from a mooring near the west end, sailed through and tied up for the day at a beach further down the cape. Then return through the canal back to the mooring. Have been over both the Sagamore and the Bourne bridges many times and even been through the railroad bridge several times on the train. Other then the last 23 years, spent the rest of my life in Eastern Massachusetts and RI. Great video and it bring back many memories

      Thank you for watching Albert. You are lucky. I do not believe they let you sail through the canal these days. CUOTO

      @@svpaquita That sailboat trip was 45 to 50 years ago. It was smooth sailing both ways until we got past the railroad bridge and then we hit a huge rip and it was a very rough ride for a short while until we got closer to the dock. We were under power during that time.

    I love watching your New England videos. I grew up in Groton CT and went to Mass Maritime so watching these vids is like sailing through my old stomping grounds. I am living vicariously through you youtube channel lol.

      Thank you very much and welcome Paul. You will be happy to know that I still have a bunch on NE content to put together and the boat is still up there. So if all goes well, we will have a ton of New England content for you before we head south in November. CUOTO

    I try to get down to the canal a few times a week to make sure the water is going the right way. We live 15 miles east of the canal. They do have a well run marina and the best run launch ramp I have ever used.

    Enjoyed the ride through some old stomping grounds, but a couple of things onboard caught my eye. From my vantage point the u-bolt ends on the antenna over your right shoulder (just forward of the palm tree) look like puncture wounds waiting to happen. Also, it looks as if your headsail halyard could stand more tension to get the wrinkles out of the luff and move the draft forward. Or, I could be totally wrong (ask my wife). 1W

      Thank you for watching Randy. I installed the iridium last year before sailing to Puerto Rico. Those long threads bothered me as well, but they are far above head and out of the way. But they look terrible. I'll get around to grinding them off one day. 😂. CUOTO

    BI sound.. My old stomping grounds.. Where on BI did you tie up? Champlin's?? An aunt of mine owned it years ago and I spent many hours as a kid cruising the island on a bicycle. In later years I worked for the ferry service that ran New London to BI but we docked in New Harbor. Short hop to Ballard's for a few barley sodas!! Southeast light house was moved a few hundred yards several years ago due to erosion on the headland.
    Bummer about the drone restrictions I'd love to see some recent imagery.
    Great video, Best luck & CUOTO... JW

    5:06 Would you please get some shorter U-Bolts or trim those off flush? I would hate for the captain to have to wear an eye patch. ("When did you get the eye patch?" "Arrrr! The first day with the hook.") 🙄

    Is your locator on? You don't seem to be moving, but your video says you are. I like your electric palm tree. Enjoying the ride.

    • @svpaquita
      @svpaquita  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching Charley. I have two tracking mechanisms on the boat. One for offshore passages (Iridium Go) and one for coastal cruising (AIS). I think if you use the AIS you find SVP in the Gulf of Maine. CUOTO

      @@svpaquita No, at this time it is still showing that you are still at the mooring in Rhode Island. I just checked again at 9:45 PM 9/5/22. Must be something wrong with the transponder.

    Nice trip, early leaf season? Anyway, I wanted to comment about going downwind as I am also leery of the direction myself. It can be dangerous with shifting winds so avoid it then for sure, but in the ocean you should have fairly steady winds but I have no experience there. Instead of going straight down wind you could have tacked your way down, and given your speed increase on a long reach you wouldn't loose much time, kind of an amazing thing really.

    • @svpaquita
      @svpaquita  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching David. Yes. Downwind tacking is a tactic I have only recently started to employ. CUOTO

    I think your drone shots are great... perhaps when editing you could use some transitions between shots instead of including the camera repositioning... but in either case... I think they're great!

    Great video Tim. How did previous yachters survive without bow thruster? Wishing you fair winds. Thanks

    • @svpaquita
      @svpaquita  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching William. A bow thruster was one of those things I would not have spent the money on if buy new. But since this boat had one, well I figured I should use it. And now I can't imagine life without one. (Remember that this is a full keel boat and not a fin keel). CUOTO
