Why the initial report of the ages 65 and older at high risk, and then removed from the report? It's wrong to remove them and it's disengenuous.

Here in the NY metro area, there is a huge difference between highly educated healthcare professionals' willingness to be vaccinated, and willingness from staff w/o education but who interact frequently with patients. I am doing everything I can to avoid accidents and maintain my health. I do not need to contract this virus from the person who mops my hospital room or delivers my tray. I understand their historical and current hesitancy. That doesn't make them less of a threat to me. As a provider, I have received my first dose of vaccine, and look forward to assuring my patients that I am less (not fully) likely to transmit this virus to them during treatment.

I understand the frustration and anger in dealing with people that are hesitant to be vaccinated. They're putting others lives in danger.
I think the less educated (I prefer less curious as the qualities seem to go hand in hand) try to do their best with less of an ability to understand why they're putting others at risk.
There are people that can't imagine our body is made of cells let alone how a virus transmits.
I think less curious people are more susceptible to feeling scared. They're not dedicating time to understanding the problem and the solutions available to them through research.
I think they tend more to rely on discussions in social networks with people they trust.
If their network is full of other people who arent curious and are also more fearful it turns into a negative feedback loop. The "I heard..." conversations spread like wildfire.

I think you are right about the echo chamber of like-minded people on social networks. Also when they venture out to tell sane people they probably get ridiculed and find great comfort back in their safe "silo" aka "cult". But this creates positive reinforcement for them to stick together rather than thinking more critically.

    • @johndoe09876
      @johndoe09876 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@raystephens1985 Tristan Harris had an interesting discussion about the positive reinforcement dynamic with Travis View. Couldn't find it on TH-cam but here's the reference.
      Podcast: Your Undivided Attention
Episode: The World According to Q
      2020-07-08
      Timestamp: 38m25s
Tristan also mentioned a book by Margaret Singer- Cults in our Midsts.
Travis remarked how Q people that ended up alienating their family members and friends would retreat back to social media, ask for emotional support, and receive it from thousands of people who would come to their aid and offer comfort.
Tristan noted how that reminded him of how cults tend to prey on people who are in a moment of transition in their lives and are looking for a new sense of meaning. They use a technique called love bombing. They'd find people who lost their job or just went through a divorce or some other negative life event and surround them with love, connection, and attention. Travis replied that Q people sometimes rush in if they find someone on Twitter lamenting about a lack of followers and try to bring them into the fold by flooding them with follows and encouragement.
The whole discussion was interesting and worth a listen

A Google search indicates about 400 Fir Farms in the USA, of which 250 are mink farms. The main states are Wisconsin, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Minnesota. I think the possibility of a new variant or even a new strain developing from Human to Animal to Human very likely.

Thank you so much for sharing your presentation. I appreciate staying informed.
In your next video, could you address whether ADE (antibody dependent enforcement) is relevant if people were to receive the covid-19 vaccine and they were infected with a strain, such as the South Africa strain or the new strain found in California? Thanks.
My biggest fear is that getting the vaccine is great for now, but then another virus that is immune to the vaccine will become the dominant virus and then people who were vaccinated are now more susceptible.

Life boats analogy so true. Yet failure by some to truly understand the need here not to make the perfect the enemy of the good. Save more people by prioritising the first dose is what Osterholm is arguing. Not the ideal way of course but existing data already shows levels of protection given by first shot. No one is suggesting only one to be promoted but by making sure more get first jag, deaths from variant could be reduced. This is an emergency situation needing emergency strategy and this seems like watching impending disastrous situation in slow motion. I hope Mr Osterholm is wrong.

Precisely, the big question that is avoided. There’s only so long a lockdown can be plausible effective without unwinding everything else even with us all complying.
My concern is the other aspects this is having in skyrocketing statistics - massive increase in other diseases, domestic violence, opioid skyrocketing, massive depression, huge suicide, child abuse & molestation trapped more indoors, homelessness soaring, addiction relapses to those that were coping before, increased poverty, mass employment & more! This is collective suicide! But sure, we're 'safe'...

Dr. Offit did not disagree with the strategy of potentially delaying the second dose in order to get more people a first, but was simply emphasizing the importance of people getting the second dose. Not sure how he’s wrong.

Can we get exempt from taking it due to that reason?
Also, why not blood test all those positive people and check for antibodies/ Tcells ?
