- Hi everyone,
I recently picked up my dream camera. The Fujifilm XH2s.
Over the past week since receiving the camera I went away up to Scotland. So naturally I thought it would be the perfect chance to get some shots.
I am absolutely blown away with the quality and features that you can get out of this small camera that I almost feel inclined to call it a compact cinema camera.
All of these shots were filmed in 6.2K open gate, apart from the one slow motion shot that was filmed in 4K 120p.

This is why we need open gate on Sony cams
why does it matter? it literally has a film emulation powergrade slapped on it so any resolution the entire 6k sensor picks up is meaningless. Nothing wrong with film emulation, but this video does not show you why you need open gate is all im saying lol
@@CryWolfFilms: for that juicy 3:2 and 4:3 aspect ratios, dummy! I am paying for full frame, I am demanding full frame! Resolution is secondary.

Beautiful shots, love to see Morton Castle, and shoutout to Dumfries and Galloway in general. I went from X-pro2 to X-H2 a few months back and love it.
Ha ha😅 Yes I'm grateful to have family in Dumfries and Galloway. Amazing part of the world. Good to hear that you're enjoying the XH2. I nearly bought that myself but seemed to be more aimed at photographers. However I'm aware of its fantastic video capabilities.

what a lovely video, the music and the shots creates an indescribable feeling! What film simulation was this filmed on? Keep up the good work!! :)
Thanks;) I didn't use a film simulation for this video but rather the Log profile. So in this case F-Log2
I then colour corrected the footage and added some Grain and Halation to add to the film look that I wanted:)

This is unbelievable. How do you grade? Plugins, LUTs, or purely graded entirely yourself? The colors are stunning.
Thanks man😊 I graded it entirely myself within Davinci Resolve. I did however use a F-Log2 to Rec709 conversion lut along with adding in some grain and slight halation. Oh and I also used a 1/4 mist filter
The conversion lut is by Serr if your wondering. It adds a slight filmic look to the image

How did you stabilize your footage, is this mostly tripod shots or a gimbal or hand held?
This was all Tripod shots apart from only a few

does the camera automatically do halation? or do you add that when doing post production?
No, it's all added in when grading the footage! It's best to keep it on the low because it can look cheap when overdone

No film stock/look. Just built my own grade

@@AMALHI15 No, I actually shot it all at a low aperture of f2. I then just focused on infinite or just below to get most of the frame in focus:)

Thanks man. Yeah, sometimes people really over do the film look and add tones of grain and halation. Really doesn't look good. But to be honest I was guilty of this at some point😅

Thanks man🫡 I believe I used the standard 16mm grain overlay in Davinci Resolve:) I may have slightly reduced the strength of it though👍

Thanks😊 I used a K&F VND with a 1/4th pro black mist filter. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the make of the mist filter. However, I do use ones made by Tiffin and K&F, and they are very good:)

Where did you graded the footages?
Thanks:) I graded it myself after converting the F-Log2 footage to rec709 with Serr's conversion lut. I'll link it below:)

@@buzz1n I've used Google Maps to find the house in Lanark where my great-grandfather grew up. I want to go visit it. I'll also have to go to Antrim in Ireland to see where his father lived before moving back to Scotland.
