- This one hour episode features Padmashri awardee @UstadShahid ParvezKhan, Sitar Maestro of global acclaim elaborating about Raag Desh with @MeetaPandit, herself a Hindustani classical vocalist of repute.
The 1st segment of the episode is a captivating interaction. The well known Kathak dancer and our host @ShinjiniKulkarni engages the maestro in an absorbing dialogue in his home in Pune, the city of Peshwas.
'My favourite Raga' is a ten episode series, showcasing India's 10 Hindustani classical music maestros hailing from various Gharanas of Hindustani sangeet. The show takes the audience through a journey enriched with history, tradition and ethos of Indian classical Ragas. The series features one particular Thaat, one Raag and its uses in classical music. The audience get to know how the magical waves of music transformed the lives of the music legends

This is one of the best programme I have seen. Thank you so much Doordarshan. Only our own channel can produce such quality programmes. All other channels are "kacharpatti". Good that atleast Doordarshan is maintaining our "parampara" of great music and great artists. Sanjini Kulkarni is very classy lady who allowed Ustadji to talk rather than blabbering herself. Most female hosts must learn from Sanjini Kulkarni ji. Meeta Pandit as expected was complementing very well with Ustadji.

Meeta Pandit conducted one of the greatest music interviews ever. The setting was luxurious and amazing, the quality of the questions precise and to the point, and Ustad Shahid Parvez showed that he is not only a great Sitarist, but also excels at presenting his art with Saliqa. So this interview had everything that a great artist like Ustad Shahid Parvez needed, namely a great setting, and an informed interviewer like Meeta Pandit who is a vocalist with a natural understanding of ragas. Ustad Shahid Parvez displayed his mastery of the instrument by presenting Raga Desh in various short pieces of Khayal and thumri bandishes. His Sitar sang. Wah!!

In the second half the interviewer asks about "dhrupad" playing on sitar. Wonderful!
Great initiative to bring India's greats on the screen. One suggestion: Keep the setting simple and real, India is full of resources you dont need to use cheap plastic props and screens to simulate ambiance, This really looks cluttered with low quality artifacts.
A setting with proper gardens, skyline and sunsets would befit great artists, they deserve such setting and respect, and India has no shortage of great backdrops.

The second interviewer.... wish she utters unnecessary words while Utada ji is sharing his amazing intellect. Dr. Pandit? Argh....
The host in the first half - Kulkarni Madam - was very gracious. Whereas, Ms. Meeta Pandit was just not allowing Ustadji to bloom. Meeta Madam, it is not your show - we are here to watch, listen and hear Parvezji. Please stop being obnoxious. Such a staggering & tall personality and with your knowledge of the subject you should have pleasantly taken the conversation into deeper understandings of his likings, understandings, etc., but, you were more interested exhibiting your talent - Really sad! Wish someone else had interviewed the second half which was the sought after thing for the audience.
Absolutely right. I wanted to write about that unexpected event and finally noticed that you have written perfectly about that.

The lady could have come better prepared. I wish she would have asked him about how he laid stress on the different notes and what makes this Raga special. She starts chatting incessantly
